  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Looking back at your posts, no, you didn't blame this season on his injuries. Either way, I hope one of us reopens this thread next September when Bay is in AAA Buffalo or he is leading the NL in HRs. It's very likely we won't remember, or won't be able to find the thread. Maybe send me a PM about this and it would be easier to relocate?
  2. Rick Hahn. It's like having Kenny's job, but I wouldn't have to be blamed for things. Plus, I could see what goes on in Kenny's thought processes.
  3. OMG the Tigers suck so bad! They took the lead in the top of the 11th inning. Then in the bottom of the 11th it is 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. Joe Mauer strikes out. 1 out. Then it's a DP ball to Inge. He bobbles the ball, tries to throw to 2nd, and it's a bad throw, the runners are all safe. So now it's bases loaded with 1 out. Next batter hits a perfect DP ball to 2B. Rhymes gets the ball, tries to go to 2B, but Santiago is standing on the base, blocking him. So he runs into Santiago, they fall down, and he barely gets the out at 2B, but the tying run scores. Blown save, and 9-9. Then the next batter hits a grounder to 2B and he makes the out thank god. Tigers are so terrrible. 2 perfect DP balls that could have ended the game, and they messed up BOTH of them. Now it's the top of the 12th. f***ING s***HEADS!
  4. Something kind of funny..... I post on another site and I mentioned my top 3 MVP candidates... I said Hamilton, Cano, and Konerko, with Hamilton winning easily. And about 2-3 Blue Jays fans jumped all over me saying Konerko is barely a top 10, and Bautista should be considered in the top 3. Then I mentioned how the Sox actually have a shot at the playoffs, and the Blue Jays are buried in the standings and for the past half a page it's been "Yeah, I wish we played in the s***ty ALC" and "The Sox would be a .500 team in the East" and all this s*** that does not even matter to my original point. LOL. It's been a headache. I guess it's true that no one outside of Sox fans recognize Konerko as an elite player this year.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Yeah the BoSox were absolutely desperate to bring him back into the fold for this year but just didn't have the luck. But by all means, a 25 year old budding ace and a former MVP candidate at his absolute lowest value for an aging injury risk with a massive contract, it makes sense on paper cmonnnnn Kenny Nah, I'm good. I don't need to back down because I am the minority. I guess we will see in the end when Danks gets his next contract, and when Jason Bay returns healthy next season.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) Bay had been healthy all year before the concussion and he still sucked Did my post say something different?
  7. And they just showed a replay from earlier in the game when West blew ANOTHER call against the Twins, and then threw out Gardenhire for arguing. Maybe he hates the Sox AND Twins.
  8. Joe West just blew a call against the Twins in the Tigers/Twins game. Unfortunately, Jesse Crain pitched over it, and now the game is going into the bottom of the 10th. I wish these f***ers would just lose. I mean, Scott Baker only pitched 2 innings today, and yet the Twins bullpen kept them in the game tonight because Verlander and the D-town D-fence sucked.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) What's wrong with Danks' health? Wrist I think.
  10. So I just had an idea run through my head..... Correct me if I'm wrong, but when a pitcher recovers from Tommy John Surgery, it's not usual for him to see a slight increase in velocity.... So what happens if something similar happens to Peavy from this injury? I'm no doctor, I have no knowledge of the sorts (which is why I searched for this thread instead of starting a new one), but wouldn't that be amazing? Or maybe somehow it allows him to have some other advantage in some way. Just bored and thought about throwing this out there. I am pumped to see how he returns from this, and just thought it would be interesting to learn about how a pitcher recovers from this since it's never been performed on a pitcher before.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) Try claiming it was a really long joke/troll post instead of one of the worst trade ideas of all time. Nah, I'm good. I don't need to back down because I am the minority. I guess we will see in the end when Danks gets his next contract, and when Jason Bay returns healthy next season.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 06:07 PM) Why would Danks take that money now, when he only has to wait two years to become a FA? If you could go back in time 2 years and offer Danks that deal again...but that's not realistic. He can easily make $15 million the next two seasons just from going to arbitration or year-by-year (like Crede and Jenks), so he would be only receiving $15 million for his first four years of free agency? No way. Danks is going to get a HUGE payday from someone. That eventual number will be closer to $150 million than $15 million. I agree. Danks is going to make major dollars in a couple years.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Who the f*** is overrating players??? Speaking in general.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Dude, you're normally a very intelligent poster but that trade offer is just absolutely awful. Alright.
  15. QUOTE (Karko's Throat Skin @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 06:07 PM) Yeah, I probably should just use my HDMI... And Dizzy, I just moved down here for graduate school. Any Sox bars...doubtful, I know. Or, even easier if you have a PS3.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) On another note - Brandon Allen is raking and Tony Pena is sucking. =) Did you see that catch me made a couple nights ago in LF? Suprising for such a big man, and then he promptly hit a grand slam for his 1st career HR.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) Joe I'm sorry but your trade is just volunteering to be raped. That trade is like the equivalent of offering Mark Teahen for Adam Jones and Brian Matusz. Why would the Orioles do that? Right, because Mark Teahen has been a great player in his career right? It's funny you guys act like Jason Bay has been a league average player over his career. Maybe you don't give him any credit because he played for Boston, or because he was traded for Manny, or some other irrational reason, but he has had a lot of great years over his career. He just happens to be having a bad year, and got injured. Maybe a player turns to suck after 1 year in your mind, but I am much more forgiving. The over reaction and overrating of our players here is pretty laughable.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) This season his splits are .259/.347/.402/.749 and he is not getting any younger. Don't blame that on his new spacious home park either, cause he hits much better there. Just because you are only paying 60% of Bay's salary doesn't mean you are getting a deal, he will still be overpaid. Would you really rather have Bay at $10 mil than Danks at $10 mil???? In a vaccuum, Danks. But this team is looking deep in the SP department. With Buehrle-Peavy-Jackson-Floyd-Garcia-Sale all still here without Danks. Plus we had a flurry of pitchers pitch very well in the lower minor leagues this year. Chances are at least 1 of them will make the majors. So to answer the question, this team needs an OF more than it needs a SP. So if I can get a guy that has put up great numbers his whole career outside of this season in which he was injured, then I'll take that.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Uh. No. It's because I could not hate the idea of acquiring Jason Bay right now any more than I do, let alone trading a starter with the value of John Danks to get him. Bay is 33 next year, and set to make 17 mill per for each of the next three seasons. That is an AWFUL deal, and I said so when the Mets signed him to it. I'd much rather allocate those resources, if we had to, to locking up Danks rather than trading a player entering his prime to land someone so old, so expensive, and really, quite bad. Throw that 5 WAR crap out the window, dude's prime just done passed him by. May God have mercy on your soul. Try not to exaggerate everything please... Bay is 31 right now, so to say "he will be 33 next year" is quite the slighted comment. He won't turn 32 until the end of this month. And he will make $16M the next 3 years, not $17M. Which is irrelevant if we are paying $10M of it each year anyway.
  20. Excited to see what Rienzo does tonight.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Dear Lord this is the worst idea of all-time. Why on Earth would we want a 32 year old with plummeting numbers who is unhealthy and costs $17 mill per for another 3 seasons? LET ALONE why would we want to trade one of the better young starters in baseball to obtain his services? Jason Bay averages 30 HR, 105 RBI, .278 AVG, .374 OBP, .882 OPS. He has been worth 5 WAR or higher 3 times in his career. Quentin has never done that, and Danks has done it once (2008). Now I can see why Danks + Quentin is an overpay due to Danks being only 25 years old, but I think Danks will be QUITE expensive in a year or two, and I wouldn't be too surprised if he becomes too expensive for Kenny. We currently have a surplus of starting pitching, and will need an OF and some power next season. Bay provides both. In this "scenario" the Mets would be paying us almost half of Bay's salary, so it would only result in us paying close to $10M a year for him which I believe will be close to what Danks would be seeking in a couple years anyway considering he will be just entering his prime when he is ready for a new deal. Maybe you don't include Quentin in this deal, maybe you don't have to. But I guess I (and maybe others) value him so low right now that he was basically just a throw-in in this scenario to save more money and to give the Mets an OF in return. I think it's fair to think it's not a good deal, I'll grant you your opinion, but to say it's the worst idea of all time means you REALLY over-value our players, or are just trying to make me look bad. Because if you honestly think this could be the worst deal of all time, then I seriously question your baseball knowledge.
  22. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Manny is flying his barber into Boston in order to get his dreads cut. Apparently his barber is a MLB player favorite and was in Minny the last two days. Will have hair cut before tomorrows game. Who knows how short. Per ESPN Chicago http://m.espn.go.com/general/story?w=19ujc...P&topslot=1 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...9232&st=105
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) You're joking, right? It better be Bay and Beltran and a cash subsidy to help pay for them, lol. Absolutely not joking.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Sweet. I didn't like competing for division titles anyway. Explain your point, please.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Isn't Bay recovering from a concussion? Yep.
