  1. My first CD was either Backstreet Boys or Hanson. My first concert was Lil Wayne and the Yung Money crew. I don't like Lil Wayne whatsoever, but I was convinced to go by a group of friends from work, and only agreed because Drake was an up-and-coming unknown artist I was following and he was a part of their crew. Well, of course Drake ended up breaking his leg and missed the concert. Have never seen Drake since.
  2. David Kaplan was saying that if Darvish needs TJ and would miss all of 2019, that he will probably just retire. Can you imagine the Cubs getting away with that? He ends up retiring, they save $100M, and then go out and easily secure Harper and possibly more. That would be so fucking sickening to see go their way.
  3. Hansen, sure, but Dunning is back to pitching. He will probably start 2019 in AA, but spend most of his season in AAA. He could be ready for the majors by early 2020. No reason to trade Rodon if you think you can be competitive in 2020 and 2021. By summer of 2020, you could be looking at Rodon, Kopech, Giolito, Lopez with one of Cease/Dunning/Covey/Stephens/Guerrero taking that 5th spot. I don't see us throwing big money at a starter any time soon. I could see us signing a veteran like Verlander for 2 years (He will be 37) or Tanner Roark to a 3-year deal (33 yrs old) just to give us a veteran presence with playoff experience, but not to any long term deals.
  4. Yoelvin Silven just continues to pump strikes. 5 more K to 0 more BB today. 68 K to 13 BB in 59 IP. Just barely 19 years old. He still intrigues me.
  5. Replace the metaphor with "floodgates opening" if you wish, but you understand the point. Kopech is the first of many prospects we will be graduating through our system for this rebuild.
  6. ** I posted this on Facebook, so ignore the spoonfeeding. My average FB friend isn't as in-tune to baseball, especially the Sox, as we all are** Michael Kopech has been called up. Phase 2 of the rebuild begins today. Phase 1 was acquiring talent for the minor league system, via trades, drafts (still 1 more big draft in 2019), and international signings. Phase 2 is graduating those players to the major leagues. Not all players acquired in Phase 1 will make it here, and not all will become cogs in the future, but the more that reach this level, the exponentially closer the team gets to becoming a perennially winner. While Moncada, Giolito, and Lopez all represent players acquired during Phase 1, all 3 of them made their major league debuts with their previous clubs. None were products of the White Sox system. Kopech (Sale trade) represents the beginning of a Tsunami of prospect talent that is on its way to the South Side, that were groomed by the reworked player development team. Phase 3 will be signing and trading for veterans, and that phase could start as soon as November of this year, with both Phase 2 and Phase 3 continuing concurrently for a couple of years. Phase 4 will be the contender phase, where the team will be poised for a playoff spot, and Phase 5 will be sustained success, where all 5 phases are occurring simultaneously and feeding each other. None of these phases of a rebuild are promised. Some teams flame out and have to start back over. Some get stuck in neutral for a few years. But one thing is promised. Phase 2 has officially begun, Michael Kopech will pitch in Chicago on Tuesday, and you bet your sweet ass I'll be there. ??
  7. Wow that looks intense. Speaking of bikes.....I just got my first bike that I've had since I was about 12 years old. My girlfriend has been trying to push me to get us bikes, so on a whim I decided to buy an e-bike that Costco had marked down as a display for $400. It sells on their website (Jetson) for $1800, and $1500 on Amazon. I didn't get it for exercising purposes I just wanted to suffice her and I thought the tech part of it might be cool.
  8. Obviously nice to see him go 8 innings and only 3 BB, but the lack of strikeouts is strange. I wonder if that was by design, or just didn't have swing-and-miss stuff tonight.
  9. She was acting as if I said Kopech did it on purpose (he totally did), when I never mentioned anything except that I hope Eloy doesn't become the target in retaliation. AAAAAAAAAAND, I WAS watching the game....on milb.tv, the same damn way she was.
  10. Kopech's sister is tweeting about the game. I replied saying I really really hope they don't retaliate by hitting Eloy in the next AB, and she replied with.... "Are you a fan of this team or.... because seems like you’re just going off what the coach tried to say from the other team? watch the game & then tweet me." .....alllllllllllrighty then.
  11. Everyone knew it was on purpose. Can't believe he didn't get tossed. Bats bench was going nuts. Eloy probs getting drilled soon.
  12. Ends the inning with a slow curve for a K. 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K (1 very intentional HBP)
  13. LMAO, Kopech then picks O'Grady off of 1st base on the hardest pick off throw I've ever seen. Kopech then started slapping his mitt in celebration. The guy holds a grudge.
  14. Would be a good excuse for Hahn to shut him down for 2018 and not worry about the fans b****ing at him over service time manipulation.
  15. Jesus, Kopech. O'Grady, the guy who bunted on Kopech in the 2nd inning and pissed him off, gets DRILLED with a 99 MPH fastball to his ass in his next AB. The benches clear, Kopech is restrained by Rondon. Ugh.
  16. Kopech allows 1 runner to reach in the 3rd via an error on Trayce, but then Zavala throws him out trying to steal 2nd. Kopech struck out the other 2 guys, one on a slider, the other on a fastball. 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. The only non-strikeout outs have occurred on the bases.
  17. Kopech just missed a strike 3 call to end the inning. It was probably a ball, but very close. Then Zavala made a tremendous backhanded pick on a curveball in the dirt. Kopech strikes him out looking on a 96 MPH fastball to end the AB. 2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
  18. Kopech gives up a run on an RBI double to LF. Eloy relayed it back in, and they nailed the trail runner at home easily. 1-0 Bats
  19. Leadoff hitter in the 2nd bunted on Kopech, and Kopech got pissed off, faked like he was going to launch the ball in to the stands. It's not like he broke up the no-hitter with a bunt single in the 7th inning. It was only the 2nd, so I'm not sure why Kopech was so mad.
  20. Kopech just struck out the side EASILY in the 1st. Threw maybe 11 pitches, 10 for strikes. 1st K - Curveball at the shoetops 2nd K - 95 MPH fastball down the middle 3rd K - Curveball bounced in the dirt
  21. Madrigal is in danger of striking out twice in a game for the 2nd time in his life, and not since his sophomore year in HS.
  22. J-Rod also stole 2 more bags. He stole 2 last night as well. He now has 16 SB to 2 CS. Christofer Melendez's numbers are up big time since the Sox picked him up when the Astros released him. This is his 4th season in the DSL, but his K/9 has spiked from 8.23 in his 3 seasons combined, to 11.76 this season. That's like a 40% increase. And his BB/9 has dropped from 5.65 to 3.30. The Sox have also stretched him out to a starter, when he was entirely a reliever with the Astros. He's 20 years old, so I hope he comes stateside next year.
