This is Hudson Watch 2010, and it's making me tremble with fear of a bad move.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:25 AM) Flowers Ok, that's fine. I would say Morel, but that's my opinion.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) At this point, I'd say: Hudson Viciedo Mitchell Sale Flowers Morel Thompson Danks Gonzalez Gilmore Ok, so for me I would flip Morel and Flowers. Does that mean I think he is untouchable? If I apparently think Morel is untouchable, then I have no idea what that makes Viciedo.....
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:16 AM) This is what I'm trying to say Joe theres no reason for Morel to be as untouchable as you want him to be. I just don't see why not wanting to trade Morel for Jackson, and preferring NOT to trade Morel in a deal for Dunn or Berkman makes him anything close to untouchable. Danks, Flowers, or Morel. Who of those 3 would you want to keep?
-
QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:13 AM) I don't even consider Morel our 3rd best prospect (maybe not even top 5 though I'm different when I count high upside guys like Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. even injured and I didn't even mention Sale) in our entire weak system. He isn't the "next best thing." Solid prospect, but not a blue chip (or even a red chip). Good news for you is I highly doubt the sox could trade a guy with a torn labrum unless said team really likes the prospect overall to off-set that injury. It's not like they could hide it/see it comming. (ala Sirodka, Garcia, etc..) I wouldn't consider Morel our 3rd best prospect either, but we sure as hell aren't in the market to trade Mitchell or Sale. I would put Morel as our 5th best prospect, if you really want to know.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:03 AM) No necessarily this deal, but everything I read from you makes it seems like Morel should be completely untouchable which is odd because he isn't a cant miss prospect. If you really are reading everything I post, then you would see I put Morel and Hudson on the same level of "keep them if you can". Obviously since Hudson is the one everyone covets, then the next best thing would be to protect Morel if you can.
-
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) You have a weird obsession with Morel it seems. Because from reading all these threads I don't think you'd trade him for Pujols. Also trading Hudson for Jackson would be a mistake for the reasons everyone else has already covered. Not wanting to trade Morel in an Edwin Jackson deal is completely reasonable, but don't compare Edwin Jackson to Albert Pujols.
-
No, no, no, no, no. Not Hudson + prospect. I wouldn't even do Hudson for Jackson straight up. But I guess if the Nats want Jackson + prospect (non Morel), then I guess I'd do it if it meant our total loss was no more than Hudson + Flowers + Danks + low level guys. No Viciedo or Morel in either trade.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) This guy came up a few years ago I THINK, and it was against the Sox. I was kind of impressed, and by looking at his minor league stats, I wonder why he can't make the big league club in KC. However, I wouldn't get him saying "We got Ka'aihue for cheaper than Berkman". I'd get Ka'aihue as another guy in the system as the organization continues to attempt to rebuild the farm. You don't think if we got Kila he would get a chance to be our DH? I mean, he is raking in AAA, and is a lefty bat. Also, he is 26, so he deserves to get a shot real soon.

I like the wave. It brings the fans together and gets them up and having a good time.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) Andy Wilkins hit a 2 out grand slam in the 9th to cap a 5 run 9th and tie the Voyagers' game at 8. Pretty sick. 21 RBI in 19 games to start his career? Not bad. Would like to see him pushed to Kanny.

MLBtraderumors brings up a good point about the Sox possibly trying to get Jackson just to flip him to the Nats for Dunn. It was either Olney or Rosenthal who said today that nobody may like a certain player more than the Nationals love Jackson.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:22 AM) Then I take it you're fine with Garcia/Hudson rounding out the rotation? And I don't want to trade Hudson. But if we could get Jackson without giving up Hudson I'd be pretty pleased. Jackson has been pretty hit or miss this year. But he consistently hits 95 MPH with his FB and his slider is + when it's on. He's actually been pretty good in his last 15 starts: 4.24 ERA, .247 BAA, 7.67 K/9. The walks are obviously what's hindered him. I mean, just like Ted Lilly, if we are getting him so we can then get a bat, then fine. But if we are getting Jackson without the intent of adding a big bat, then nevermind. I'm just not an Edwin Jackson fan. Even when he throws a no-hitter he looks pretty unimpressive doing it.

What would the Royals want for Kila? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=451500 Has some pretty gaudy numbers with that .462 OBP and 1.055 OPS. Dude walks a TON and doesn't strike out too much. 26-year-old power lefty. I am not up to speed with the Royals farm system, so I don't know how much they value him, but I wonder if he would come cheaper than Dunn or Berkman.
-
Uhmm.....no thanks.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) Same with me, I love Dunn as an offensive player but that's way too much for 2 months I agree. I'll bite on Hudson and Danks, or Hudson and Flowers. But if it's Hudson and Viciedo or Hudson and Morel......then PASS.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) CSN will be re-airing The Club starting in mid-to-late August. Cool, so when it finally becomes available on a channel I actually, I will go off to school and still not be able to see it.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I love how they still play Your Love whenever Beckham gets a hit. Gordon said that a lot of fans complained about him changing his song, so he decided to compromise and said he will have them play Your Love if he gets a hit, so in other words, he felt he was not playing well enough to warrant the song, so when he gets a hit he gets rewarded with hearing the song play. ] It's working.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) I wonder if Torres has been traded. That's what I was thinking. Torres is not a top-tier guy in our system like Flowers, Danks, Hudson, Viciedo, and Morel, but I would certainly put him as our 2nd best trading chip pitching wise. Torres himself could be a centerpiece of a smaller trade.

Morel now 2/3 with 2 2B.
