Carlos Torres removed after 75 pitches of 5 inning shut out ball, 2 hits, 1 BB, 6 K.

Scott Merkin notes via Twitter that Carlos Torres was removed after 5 shutout innings tonight and only 75 pitches. Either they have a hard pitch count on him, or he may be included in a trade. OR they wanted to pull him after having a really nice outing so they don't jeopardize him having a rough 6th inning and hurting his value over the next 40 hours or so.

Very nice start for Collop. 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K. Collop has 90 K to 21 BB in 110 IP. Very nice peripherals. Needs to cut down on the hits and runs he allows though.

Morel is 1/2 with a 2B so far.

John Danks is going to be on ESPN Radio at 7pm central. Whoever was just anchoring on SportsCenter said to tune into the radio at 8 for an interview with John Danks. -
QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) Heard on 104.9 The Horn in Austin TX: Houston Chronicle writer Richard Justice said that the best bet for Lance is to be traded to the Rangers to fill in the 1b hole now that Justin Smoak was traded earlier this month. You can also read Justice' s blog @ http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/ It makes sense. The Rangers have a hole in 1b and if Lance is traded to the Rangers, it would keep him in Texas which he was born in New Braunfels (Between Austin and San Antonio), went to Rice U in Houston and was drafted by the hometown 'Stros. Wow, the Rangers would be adding a LOT of people (and payroll) if that happened.... Molina, Cliff Lee, Jorge Cantu, and Lance Berkman. Geeez.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Hebrew Hammer is Braun Oh ok. I've never heard him be called that before. Didn't even know he was jewish.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Wynn Pelzer. Was just saying it would have been funny if the Hebrew Hammer got traded for Tejada.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) So a piece of CR/AP. I just thought it would be funny if he was, I have no evidence.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Padres Acquire Miguel Tejada By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 29 at 4:24pm CST] 4:37pm: The Padres will acquire Miguel Tejada from the Orioles, according to MLB.com's Corey Brock (on Twitter). Connolly hears the O's get a pitcher and salary relief. Aaron Poreda. lol.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Miguel Tejada has been scratched from his game, where did he go? Rangers.

QUOTE (clown baby @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Does anybody else really like the idea of keeping Morel long term? He's been praised for his defense, and that would be great to have an elite infield of Morel, Alexei, and Beckham. That would be spectacular. I want to keep Morel even more than I want to keep Hudson, but I'm a big Morel fan, so take that for what it is. But the idea of having a great glove at 3B, and a guy who hits and adjusts well at every level excites me. Plus, from communicating with him, he seems like a really nice guy who I'm sure would be a good clubhouse player. Morel is a keeper IMO.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) They just traded Oswalt for a pitcher with less upside than Hudson, I think we could get Berkman if we took on his salary and gave them a combination Morel/Holmberg/etc. Danks + Holmberg sure. Keep Morel at all costs if you can.

With Brett Wallace just being traded to the Astros for Anthony Gose, I think that this may mean Lance Berkman gets moved by the deadline. Wallace would become the heir to Berkman. I would think Berkman would come cheaper than Dunn. So maybe Hudson + Torres or some other non top-prospect?

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) Hahahaha, that is quite odd considering I was doing basically the exact same thing... And that's odd considering I was just on Bangbros getting hot and heavy.

Cantu to the Rangers.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:54 AM) Important Question: Are the Whitesox in Lilly's no trade list? I know Minny is and I also believe Detroit is. Plus I here that cubs players are afraid to play for contenders. They rather play mediocre ball, just like the ball their fans pay to see. I would really doubt Lilly would have the Sox on his NTC. I mean, the point of a NTC is to stay where you are, and albiet it's for a different team, I would think Lilly would like to stay in Chicago if he could.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) You nailed it right here. I just hope there's no smoke here. I'd rather just roll with Hudson. I think it's more about would you rather have Adam Dunn and Ted Lilly, or Daniel Hudson and Mark Kotsay? I would take Hudson over Lilly too, but the point of getting Lilly is to get Dunn, and that's a sacrifice I think most here would be willing to make.
