  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Are you a personal friend of Parra's? You've been on his bandwagon since like March. You get an A+ for dedication. Oh...I'll never tell. But yes, I am dedicated. Even if he hits .100 the rest of the season, you will see me suggesting we pick him up in the off-season.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) is bad, is bad, is bad. .266/.315/.392/.707 line on the year, and he doesn't face lefties. He's a 4th outfielder who has been forced to play too much on a bad Diamondbacks team. He is a 23-year-old lefty who has good speed, plays great corner OF defense, has maybe one of the strongest OF arms I have ever seen, does not strike out a ton, and generally hits for a good average (.308 minors hitter, and hit .290 last year). He is not having a good year this year, but he is still only 23 years old. There are plenty players better than him, but this thread is calling for a sleeper player, which I assume means a guy we can pick up that no one knows about. I can't imagine his value being too high right now, but then again, AZ may want to keep him for their rebuilding process. At the least, he is better than Mark Kotsay, and him and Rios and Pierre would make a very strong OF defensively.
  3. Gerardo Parra, Gerardo Parra, Gerardo Parra.
  4. Pierre dh Ram SS Rios CF PK 1B Q RF AJ C Viciedo 3B Jones LF Beckham 2B Floyd pitching.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I thought you meant he started and I was about to say "Stretching him out for #5..." Yeah, a poor choice of wording on my part.
  6. I would be fine with Teahen being on this team if it meant the end of Kotsay. I mean, Teahen would then take over the role of Viciedo (3B/DH), and then Viciedo would take over the role of Kotsay (1B/DH).
  7. I'd rather see Omar at 3B than Teahen, and I'd rather see Viciedo DH than Teahen....soo.......I really don't need to see Teahen at all...
  8. Worst outing of Sale's very, very short career so far, and he still managed to strike out the side. 10 K in 4 2/3 innings in AAA.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) The last time Tony Pena started a game at any level, Carl Everett was the starting DH for a World Series winning team. Tony Pena is not a starting pitcher on this team, he is the swingman, and he will remain that for the rest of the season as there is no time to stretch his arm out to be able to throw even 80 pitches, let alone 100 or so. Carlos Torres would be his replacement. He might not be the worst 5th starter the White Sox have ever had, but he is not a desirable option to say the least. His major league equivalent FIP is 4.94, which could lead him anywhere from a 4.50 to a 5.50 ERA. As stated, that wouldn't be the worst 5th starter ever, but on this club, it would not be desirable. Hudson's 4.51 FIP translates to the majors much better, and he is a much better looking pitcher than Torres or any other replacement from within the system. The reason I didn't say Torres is because I had him included in the hypothetical trade of Hudson + Torres for Dunn in the 3 way trade. With Hudson and Torres gone, I would rather have Tony Pena throw 4-5 innings for us and Linebrink/Sale back him up for 2-3 innings then throw someone like Jeff Marquez or Lucas Harrell up there to pitch.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) Probably because the White Sox realize they're 100% screwed this season if they have to trade Hudson, so they're trying to find a way to do the deal without moving Beckham or Hudson. I wouldn't put Hudson and Beckham in the same group at all. Beckham should be rather untouchable. Hudson is only hard to get because of our lack of depth, not because he is a great looking pitcher. Is the difference between Adam Dunn and Mark Kotsay not greater than the difference between Dan Hudson and say...Tony Pena?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Because Jackson is cheaper than Dunn this year and is also signed for next year. I would think Dan Hudson would be just as valuable as Edwin Jackson, so if they want just Jackson for Dunn, then why can't we just trade them Hudson + Torres or some other mid-level prospect?
  12. Talks of a 3-team player trade right now between Sox, Dbacks, and Nationals.... Sox get: Dunn Nationals get: Edwin Jackson Dbacks get: Collection of prospect pitchers from Sox http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/edwi...team-rumor.html So the Nationals would essentially be trading Dunn for Edwin Jackson, and the Sox trading pitching prospects for Dunn. Not sure why the Nationals would trade Dunn straight up for Jackson IMO. EDIT: Apparently I am late to this discussion.
  13. Awesome, glad to know he can have a good couple days and then immediately be thrown back into the fire where he can blow another save for us. Is that really all it takes to prove "he is back"?? 2 goddamn innings?
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) Saunders has zero potential. He's 30 and has been a mediocre pitcher throughout his Major League career. 2008 was an anomaly, just look at 2009 and 2010 to find that out. Zero potential eh? allllllllrighty then... And he's 29 actually.
  15. I think I am the only person who likes this deal for the Dbacks. To me at least, Joe Saunders is a pretty decent #3 pitcher, with #2 potential. I doubt he ever reaches the ace level of Haren, but the Dbacks also pick up 3 prospects, one of Skaggs who is a pretty legit prospect, and they shave a LOT of money off their payroll too. I think the Dbacks could have gotten more, since the reports said Haren would be very hard to get, but I still like this trade for the Dbacks. Saunders moving to the NL West will help him get back on his feet.
  16. Where was Hudson 12 months ago? You can't act like this is some former 1st RD pick who is a bust. We are lucky enough that he panned out as awesomely as he has, let's not rip him apart after he has a start that makes him look like a 5th RD pick and not a 1st RD talent.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) I assumed all three of these players were either facing prison or a suspension from the header. I'm glad i was wrong.
  18. Jeremy Reed is 1/1 with a 2-run HR. .314 AVG. I am rooting for ya buddy!

  20. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) Is the center field deck for private parties only? I walked up there a few times and was told to go away. There must have been private parties both days or some work function up there. I don't know, I have walked up there with friends and watch the last few innings sitting there. We also found a cell phone, hah.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Maybe he can make his long awaited White Sox debut. That would certainly be strange. Andre Rienzo 6 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 0 BB, 2 H. WOW. Shades of DLS there. Holy shnikies! 70 K and 21 BB in 58 IP. Not bad on the peripherals, but he is certainly giving up his fair share of runs.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Does Steve Stone need to call out Ozzie for not starting Dayan?? It worked with Lou He needs to. Colvin has been a star since Stone "persuaded" Lou to play him more.
