QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) Can someone make mine "The Official Soxtalk Nicknamer" I think it's obvious everyone loves my nicknames. Haha, awesome. Thanks. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) Except for Williams and Guillen And me.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) This swing was about 2 swings before Dayan Viciedo's first major league home run. He really does look like Uribe in that swing.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) awesome news, really wanted him to go to NL, but thanks for the poster for pointing out Rangers still have games with Twins and Detroit and we don't, but 2 series with now a Lee-less seattle squad You're welcome.
-
I REALLY hope he goes to the Rangers. I say this because the Twins have 7 games left w/ the Rangers, the Tigers have 5 games left, and the Sox are DONE with them. The only time the Sox might have to see them is in the playoffs.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Lee, Volquez, Cueto, Leake, Arroyo Wow.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) i said the preseason that this guy is under the radar given if his age is legit, and he plays at a premium position with good tools. Glad to see him performing at GF. But he moved he 3B now so his value took a little bit of a hit, if he can manage to stay at SS, he could easily be a top 20 given his age and our weak system. on a side note Flower is really struggling 0 for 3 with 3 k's though he didn't pick up a SB, interesting.. He used to draw alot of walks and is a great OBP guy, now he is not making contacting, striking out 40% of the time, and is not drawing any walks, somethings need to be done about this guy. Yeah, like a trade. He is looking like somewhat of a bust. I defended him for most of the season, but now I am losing faith in him.

Now THIS is the lineup I want to see out there everyday. Sucks I'm going to miss the whole game.

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Was just looking at the Rangers' prospect rankings at Baseball America, their top prospects each year have had a crazy success rate: 2001 Carlos Pena, 1b Rays 2002 Hank Blalock, 3b Rangers 2003 Mark Teixeira, 3b Yankees 2004 Adrian Gonzalez, 1b Padres 2005 Thomas Diamond, rhp Cubs 2006 Edinson Volquez, rhp Reds 2007 John Danks, lhp White Sox 2008 Elvis Andrus, ss Rangers 2009 Neftali Feliz, rhp Rangers http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...010/269402.html

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) You're a fool if you really think that a Flowers/Retherford/Torres package would even get the M's attention. Montero is a top 5 prospect in all of baseball. We don't even have anyone like that in our system, unless you want to talk about Beckham. Yeah, Flowers is no where near the prospect that Montero is. For us, we would have to trade something like Hudson, Flowers, Danks2, and someone else I would believe.
-
Apparently the "mystery team" is the Rangers. I would believe they would offer a package around Smoak.
-
God I hope the team that "has entered discussions aggressively." is not the Twins or Tigers, and a little nervous as to what we would give up if it's Kenny throwing down offers.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Honestly, I think we need to realize that these guys are human beings too...maybe the guys doesn't want to move here...I don't understand why sports fans take this so personally sometimes... Yeah, but it sucks to hear this when you live in a great city, and there is another team in your city that no one ever rules out. If he would have said "I don't want to go to Cubs or Sox", then I would deduce that he just doesn't like Chicago. But he only ruled out 1 Chicago team, so clearly he just doesn't like us, and not the city itself. Doucher. (Oswalt, not you)

How do YOU want this team to look in 2011?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:14 AM) It's not the names on the back of the jersey that counts. It's the name on the front. That was adorable! -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Silverio with another HR. He's raking: .329/.375/.562. What does everyone think of this? Good, but I won't get excited about him until he is doing things like this in AA.
-
I can agree w/ the OP. I'll take a sweep of the Twins, as long as we sweep the Royals.

I picked..... -- Quentin. I think Q is still a valuable player to us, and his high amount of RBI compared to his AVG proves how clutch he is and is such a solid run producer. I would like to see him DH though... -- Pierzynki. I just don't think Flowers is quite ready yet. I would like AJ for one more year. His handling of the pitchers might be enough for me to sit through his incredible cold streaks. -- Putz. I loved this signing from the beginning, and I think he can be our future closer as it seems Thornton may not be comfortable closing. Whether he is closing or setting-up, he is very solid. -- Buerhrle. Mostly for sentimental reasons. I really don't want to see Burl's leave, especially since his contract is not up. If it was his final year, I would be more apt to be ok with him leaving. -- Thornton. Basically the same that I wrote for Putz. He can be our future closer, or if he is not comfortable, he can be a solid set-up man for us to Putz. -
Sox draft signings and reporting places

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) So we are pretty much a Grimes signing away from having everyone we wanted? I was just about to ask what the idea is on Grimes. He is considered to have some pretty good potential, but dropped because of signability issues, right? -
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) The rumored time line was a mid July promotion to Charlotte and then Chicago some time in August. I think Sept 1st is when they will bring him up when the rosters expand.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I wonder when they just say, screw it, and send Sale to Charlotte. Supposedly in a week or so.

2/3 with 2 2B and a BB for Morel today. AVG up to .276

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) Chris Sale threw a scoreless inning in relief today with no hits and 2K's Hell yeah! 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Not bad buddy.
