  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) .248 for Konerko...it's crazy to think how much him and Jones have struggled since their great start They both have extremely identical numbers in May... Paulie - .215 AVG, .303 OBP, .670 OPS, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 10 BB, 18 K Jones - .217 AVG, .304 OBP, .739 OPS, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 10 BB, 14 K
  2. Freddy still at 89 pitches. He could start the next inning too, and have Santos ready in case anyone reaches.
  3. Only the 5th time this year Carlos has been hit. He really needs to catch up to Jose Guillen who is running away w/ 8 right now. A beaten and battered Carlos = Carlos "MONGO" Quentin. For those fools who don't get the Mongo reference from Blazing Saddles.....
  4. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) I think he was a converted position player and they did not expect that much out of him. He made his name in their minor league bullpen and they might think his arm has a limited number of innings in it....... Also I do not study the cubs numbers but it seemed like a week ago the entire team except for Lee and Ramirez were well over .300 like a bunch of guys in the .330 range and now while there are still a couple in the .300 range there are bunch that are now back down to earth. Well, he did convert from catcher to pitcher when he was 20 years old, but that was back in 2003, but he only had 20 games as a catcher.
  5. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Wasn't Wells slated for the pen anyway? He was as good as anyone in that rotation and young. He could not have been too excited about the move. It's weird how badly they view Wells, but he was their best starter last year, and was doing well this year, yet it seems he is always the odd man out.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) The only thing worse is the dumbasses trying to get the wave going at the Sox game yesterday. Really? The 70's called, they want their schtick back. Sox game I was at last year, we had an epic wave going. It went 3-4 times around the stadium, with lower bowl and upper decks involved and synchronized. It was great.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:19 PM) Is Ted Lilly not even standing on the mound? It's funny because I actually noticed this right before Blake went off. Due to the Buehrle fiasco, I was watching Lilly's feet to see if he was bringing his leg over and balking, when I noticed his foot was a good 3-4 inches off the rubber. I was saying "Wait a second, he can't do that, that's cheating". And then a minute later Blake started to yell about it.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 28, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) Actually that quote is pretty funny and almost redeems himself from this situation. How does that redeem him? Making decisions about things based on how long the game will take? That's horses***. Eject a guy because he deserves it, not because he works slow on the mound.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 27, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) I am pretty sure we have the worst farm system in baseball now. When out of your so-called top six prospects: Hudson, Mitchell, Flowers, Danks, Morel and Viciedo (since there is a clear drop after those six coming into the year) one is having a great year, two solid years, two bad years and one out of the year, you system is going to decrease in the rankings. Add in the s*** we have minus those guys and it's bad. I am not even excited about Hudson or Viciedo because I just view them as White Sox prospects who will come up the majors and suck. Then, either toil in the minors or get traded. It's all about Hudson, Flowers, Viciedo, and Morel it seems.
  10. Joe West just keeps digging himself a hole..... http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5225554 You can hear his 11 minute interview on 670 The Score, and at around the 2:30 mark he starts talking about how he did not want to eject Buehrle because he is a fast working pitcher....... "As soon as I kicked him out of the game I was thinkin, "Aww, this is great, now how long is this game going to take?", so you know, we aren't looking to kick him out of the game" Seriously Joe? You ACTUALLY think to yourself that you shouldn't eject a guy because he makes the game go by quicker? Wow. He is just scum. I wonder how many plays he calls the guy out just so the game does not take too long....
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5227063 That's a shame.
  12. Pena has 28 RBI while hitting .188. He must have an insane avg w/ RISP.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) It's funny the way people talked about Kotsay all offseason, a heady, grindy incredibly intelligent veteran ballplayer. Still waiting for that guy to show up. I liked Kotsay when he was strictly a bench player. I can't stand him as a starter.
  14. .......wtf are you doing you f***ing idiot? God damnit.
  15. Paulie is like Soriano with those low and away breaking balls.
  16. This is ahead of schedule? Good news and all, but I thought him in the AFL was the original target. Meh, I just hope he is 100% and his speed is not hurt too much by this.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 27, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) John Ely is the man. 7 shutout innings now. 2 hits allowed by Ely. ERA down to 2.79. Ho hum.
  18. Ely is dominating the Cubs right now. 5 IP, 0 R, 1 H. His ERA is down to 2.95, and his WHIP is around 0.94. He has still yet to allow a HR this season....
  19. At least SI got it right... "This time, Buehrle flipped his glove off and was immediately ejected by West, who stood with his arms folded near the first-base line."
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Check out this major spin job by Yahoo sports: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-whitesox-ejections First, he dropped his glove. Second off, it'd be nice if they reported the facts and pointed out that the pickoff attempts were clearly not balks. MLB.com has this... "West called the second balk with one out in the third inning, tossing Buehrle after the left-hander threw his glove to the ground in frustration." I would say it was a flip at best.
  21. Part of me wants Bobby to blow this thing so we can just release him or officially kick him off closer duties. I feel like if he gets this done Ozzie can just say "Well, see, he got the job done, and thats all that matters".
  22. QUOTE (gordonventura38 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Gordo looks helpless against a curve ball right now Yeah, or the slider, which is all he saw that last AB.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) Just woke up. I saw Buehrle got ejected. What did he do? I can't imagine Buehrle going crazy arguing w/ an ump. Did he hit a batter? Nevermind, Hawk filled me in.
