  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I know a place where you can get jerseys for $16 (shipping will cost you a lot though). Not authentic, probably from the pawn shops of China, but word has it, they look and feel like the real thing. Sounds like lightinthebox.com
  2. I have always thought this would make a perfect walk up song..... Nelly - Batter Up Start it at 1:54, and should run to at least 2:07 when he says "Batter Up!" Afterall, Nelly DID play minor league baseball, and is a pretty good athlete. You ever see him in the celebrity softball tourney they have at the all-star break? Nelly mashes! Go to 2:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL8f9WnQw_4...feature=related Go to 2:35 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNfPSsTqR9o...feature=related
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) I believe so yes. Yes. I was lucky enough to watch the Dodgers and Indians square off in the fields in the back.
  4. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Yeah I don't get that. If he was doing so well why reassign him? Is this normal for young prospects? I don't recall Beckham being reassigned last year. He played the entire ST. This doesn't make any sense. No, Beckham did not make it the whole ST. Trust me, I know. I flew down to AZ for ST last year, and was wetting myself with excitement to see Beckham, only to find out he got reassigned the day that we flew down. We saw a game on the 25th or 26th vs. the A's, so he was sent down probably March 23rd or 24th. EDIT: Found a link. He was sent down on the 25th, the DAY BEFORE I went to go see them play. Talk about some bullllssshhiittt. http://www.mouthpiecesports.com/media/whit...-beckham-19938/
  5. De Aza is really trying to make this team.... 2-2 with an RBI so far. He is hitting .556 on the spring. Also, big Andruw with a triple and 2 RBI thus far.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) David Cross did a very funny bit on people misusing the word "literally" in one of his stand-up routines (I think this one) a few years back.
  7. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 07:44 AM) Corey Haim What an odd ending to this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukg2fgUgVSA "Corey Haim Dead"
  8. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) Ive tried a new hitting strategy thats been working wonders for my RTTS. Instead of moving the left stick around to match the location of the ball on pitches, i just leave it at the center and WAIT for the pitch i want down the center of the plate.. I dont try guess pitch location anymore because it throws me off more than it helps. I just rely purely on my own eye whether its going to be out of the strike zone or not. Once i trained my eye to see certain things, i started to salivate at the sight of a curveball that starts out high and ends up right dead center of the strikezone for a HR. I have my RTTS guy at 21 years old, batting .378 with 30 HRs at the start of August for the St. Louis Cardinals... I have my power and contact at 90 a piece and im just starting to invest in other abilities. Very nice. I am getting the hang of hitting too. I have only played about 20 innings, but my last game was much better. I played the Twins at Target Field (Sweeet looking field btw). I scored like 5 or 6 runs. Hit a HR with Konerko and Jones. Konerko actually went 3-4 with a HR, 2B, single. I basically took my approach of always guessing LOW and FASTBALL, and then did the obvious. When I saw the pitch was not going to be low (because it didn't light up), i would slightly move the batting cursor up a little so it covers the top half of the zone. This allows me to get to a lot more high pitches, and barrel up the hanging stuff. I started crushing pitches after I did this.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Gar Ryness, known as the batting stance guy. (which a poster said prior) Pretty old video actually.. (08' I believe) it was posted before on this site. The video was taken at the end of January, '09.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) 3 cuts today. Catchers Miguel Gonzalez and Josh Phegley, and OF Jared Mitchell were reassigned to minor league camp. 52 left in camp. Ahhh bulls***. I wish they didn't cut Mitchell so early. He is very exciting to watch.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Q don't need no stinkin' walk-up music. Actually, Q's walk up song is "4 minutes to Save the World" the Madonna and Timberlake song. EDIT: I take that back, in 2008 he did, but maybe he has silence now. Then again, maybe he should go back to that song since it obviously worked for him in '08.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) There was a lot of buzz on Silverio a couple years ago, but he was signed during the signing bonus scandal period so after he struggled in the Appy League people assumed he was another over hyped foreign signee. People seem to be taking the wait and see approach. I'm sure many will get back on the bandwagon this year if he does well in rookie ball. I believe the age rumors were wrong, but there were rumors that he had to play in the DSL because he had visa issues. It's been a weird series of events around this kid, that's for sure. What happened last year? Was he injured or something? http://thebaseballcube.com/players/S/Juan-Silverio.shtml They don't list any 2009 stats for him, and this site has stats for EVERY player who has ever played at any level including college.
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) Surprised not seeing Juan Silverio's name there. the guy's only 18 about to turn 19, plays at a premium position, base on his performance in DSL last year, he had made some strides in hitting for contact, base on the age, age, and the position alone he should be a top 30. I think Silverio is kind of under the radar in everyone's list, and I can't really find much scouting reports on him. Anyone has any read on this guy? and if i am not mistaken (didn't know he was invited to ST, and his stats wasn't listed on whitesox.com), he actually played as a DH in last saturday's game vs the Cubs going 0-3 with 1 k. Considering that he has never played above the Appy League, the Sox must have high hopes for him to send him to ST? Maybe I am mistaken and am thinking of a different person, but I thought they found out Silverio has actually older than he claimed, and was really like 21 years old.
  14. QUOTE (Soxy @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) When Rue McClanahan was recently hospitalized Betty White sent her a card that said something to the effect of "Hurry up and die so I can be the only Golden Girl left." That's awesome.
  15. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) I've been struggling with hitting so this past Saturday I did some research and found a technique that seems to be working for me........ First, I guess low, fastball on every pitch. Typcially, if I guessed wrong on the pitch, then it will be some sort of off speed pitch which I'll be ready for. Second, if I guess wrong on the locatoion, there is a good chance it's going to be up in the zone. Whatever the current count is helps to determine if that pitch will be up or out of the zone...like a 0-2 count, you can pretty much count on it being out of the zone. As I've done this, I've become much more comfortable with hitting, and successful as well. At first, I would refrain from swinging on any pitches unless I guess right, but now I'm swinging more based the pitch history, etc. Another thing that might help is to turn on the plate coverage indicator, this will help you without a doubt. This game is very rewarding when you start ripping singles up the middle or doubles down the line, it's where you really start to feel the authenticity of the gameplay. That is exactly what I have been doing too.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:31 AM) Thats dumb and no reason to answer it. I am just wondering how much people value a proven young star (Beckham) vs. 2-3 guys who look like they could contribute as above average players, but have not yet.
  17. Completely hypothetical question here, but what if the Padres said this..... You can have A-Gon, as long as you give us.... Beckham + lower lvl prospect (Back end of our top 10 prospects) or Mitchell, Danks, Flowers, and Hudson You had to pick one deal, you could not just say "No", what deal would you do?
  18. My game just suffered a stroke. I heard a weird noise come from my system, and then on my next pitch, the game sped up 3 times as fast. The pitching meter came around in half a second, and the gameplay spiked big time. On the throw back to my pitcher, the game slowed down, and the animation was way off. My pitcher caught a ball that was thrown 4 feet to the right. Then on my next pitch is was fine, and then the 3rd pitch was once again sped up. I decided to just sim to the end of then game, and turned my system off. I hope my game has not been scratched, or my system going haywire. I would say now is a good time to call it quits for the night.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) Future bust. Yeah, my ERA should be like mid 3's really, but I get so many double plays it's amazing. I have challenged the record for most DPs in a game (8), by rolling up 6 of them. As I type this, I just got a double play ball. Not sure if they track that stat in this game, but I would venture to guess I have at least 30-40 double plays turned. EDIT: Add another. I have 4 DPs this game, and I am only through 6 IP.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 01:23 AM) This is easily the hardest part of the game, and why I haven't played my 2B/RF for the Angels in a while instead of my pitcher. I K like I'm on a mission to beat Ryan Howard. If I could get some recognition, just about all my hits are doubles are HR's...all like, 12 of them Eh erm...I think you mean Mark Reynolds, he obliterated Howard's record (which he already beat in 2008), by striking out 223 times, a full 24 more times than Howard ever did. Anyway... My pitcher is just smashing AA right now. Just finished my 3 CG of the season. 9 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 11 K's. Season stats: 9-2, 2.19 ERA, 103 IP, 102 H, 2 HR, 6 BB, 67 K, 1.05 WHIP, and of my 9 wins, 7 were on the road. I am hoping to get the call to AAA soon.....
  21. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) haha i remember when KW yelled at Swisher for this exact same thing. . i love KW! That didn't work out too well....
  22. My dad was watching me play The Show. He asked is he could bat for me, I asked why, he said "I don't think I could do any worse". First pitch he saw, he singled up the middle. FML.
