Also, as for the Sox scouting the Astros' minor league farm....I would say that's because the Sox have relievers to sell contenders, and are likely scouting all contenders for that reason, not because of a specific Abreu trade.
-
Hostetler, pretty likely, referred to Bukauskas' meltdown pre-draft last year as something that to paraphrase, "completely took him off of our board". I think if they hated his make-up then, they wouldn't like it any better now.
-
I think Abreu can get you one top 100 guy, and maybe 1 or 2 mid-tier guys. But what I wonder is if the Sox can pair Abreu up with one of our relievers, like we did with the Yankees trade last year. Go for one really high-end guy, like Alvarez, whom everyone is mentioning. But on his own, maybe something like LHP Cionel Perez, 3B JD Davis, and C Garrett Stubbs??

Not awful, but still wrong. The Dodgers overcame all of this and scored 2 in the 9th inning, down to their last strike, to win anyway.
-
Kemp and Roberts already got ejected over the awful calls, and this one caused Grandal to be ejected in the 9th, with the game on the line.

This is just through 4 innings...

I've been having fun checking the @CubsUmp on twitter and seeing how incredibly slanted the zone has been for the Cubs. Chatwood only has 5 BB, but he should have at least 7 or 8.

Yup. His family is from the Griffith area. His uncle was my boss for a summer. -
Badler J2 Preview - Sox Tied to 2 Cubans

Oh I know, I just mean none of these guys are considered top signing, so I'm just trying to put our excitement in perspective. Hopefully a year from now when the chains come off, we can snag a top 10 guy or two. -
Promotions/Releases/Demotions of Sox System

I'm a little surprised Cease is already getting the call up. Not that he doesn't deserve it, or that 70 IP isn't a decent sample, but because both the Cubs and Sox have been so patient with him, I kind of expected him to have another month or two in W-S. But exciting nonetheless. Kind of interesting to see that Birmingham is netting 2 more outfielders. Do Muno and Brett get released? Or release an IF like Barnum or Basto? -
Badler J2 Preview - Sox Tied to 2 Cubans

I know we are excited about these guys because they fit within our $300K cap, but assuming we didn't have any restrictions, would these guys just be footnotes? They can't be that hyped if they are signing for sub $300K, right? -
And he was drafted as a reliever, hence the slow progression.
-
And just like that, 3 days later and he's up to .289.
-
Do we have a fun name for that yet, like we do with a 9-pitch 3-K inning? And for the White Sox tie-in...it's only been done once in White Sox history. Wilson Alvarez, 1997, and yes, I got video. https://www.mlb.com/video/alvarez-strikes-out-four-in-7th/c-1873961883

When I saw Schererville, I was wondering if he went to Lake Central, where I went, but of course, he went to Andrean. Should have known.

2018 White Sox draft picks and signings thread

I'm going to assume that's a "no" then. -
I'll continue to see these athletes as humans with emotions. I'm sorry you feel differently.

Well you're exactly describing a Range Extender, so that's why I was confused if you were being facetious or not.

Do the White Sox have too much starting pitching?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Dam8610's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But seriously, any "excess" pitching that you can't find a spot for becomes currency. Sure, you can't USE all those starters at the same time, so you pick your favorites and sell the rest off to supplement the rest of your roster. -

Of course not, there's never enough pitching -
Uhhh.......I can't tell if this is sarcasm....but......yes.

I was just about to mention this. He was hitting like .309 on Monday. That's what small sample size does. Guess what, if he goes 4 for 4 tomorrow, his AVG will be .307. That's an 80 point difference in one game. There no reason to worry about Robert whatsoever.
