QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) if right now Walk is unlocking a lot of things Alexei has never seen before, firing him tomorrow and bringing someone in with a whole new set of principles could derail that work. And Alexei's growth could be stunted. This is what not doing anything (on that front) could accomplish. People are missing the entire basis of my argument, which is that Walker is doing some good to really good things. Alexei, Quentin. The fault lies in the vets who are already set in their ways. It doesnt sound all that well thought out to say, "Just do SOMETHING." It's as if you're admitting that exasperation is taking over reason. Walk gets credit for NO ONE except maybe Dye, Konerko, and Crede. I can't think of any other hitters that really exploded with us before being good anywhere else. Cabrera was good, Alexei was good (in Cuba), Q demolished the minors, Thome was good, AJ was almost as good, Swisher was good, Uribe has never been good. My point is that only 2 or 3 guys have done really well while Walker has been here, all the rest have done it elsewhere already, and now they all suck. Now for the opposite effect, look at Coop. Coop is a GREAT pitching coach because he can take strugggling guys and turn them great, and they can continue the success they had before they came here as well. PLEASE fire Greg Walker. PLEASE call up Josh Fields.

Anthony Carter (Crazy stats)

QUOTE (Noberto Martin @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) I personally like Poreda and Ely better even though their numbers are worse just because of their draft positions. Hopefully he pans out but lots of pitchers dominate low A. (remember Ray Liotta? god I wish he made the bigs) Yeah, I like Poreda better as well just because he was drafted in the first round so he is probably a safer pick, but regardless, it will be fun to follow Carter and see if he goes through the levels well. -
June Wallpaper Featuring Alexei Ramirez

Good luck so far. Alexei is batting .750 in June with the wallpaper! -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Trade Cabrera, Buehrle, Swisher, Uribe, and Crede to PIT for Sanchez and Bay. Trade Thome to BAL/KC for a minor leaguer or two. Ramirez 2B Sanchez SS Quentin LF Bay DH Dye RF Pierzynski C Fields 3B Konerko 1B Anderson CF Vazquez Contreras Danks Floyd Broadway In the offseason, go after Sabathia to be the ace, or maybe even Teixeria for 1B. If we get Tex, trade Konerko to a team for a bag of bats. Just a thought. That first trade is TERRIBLE for us. Bay is the only good one, and he is offset by Swisher. I assume you are joking anyway though.

Most likely scenerio - Lineup shuffled. Something crazy like everyone in order of batting AVG, or OBP, or something. Most disired scenerio - Walker fired, Uibe released, Fields called up, Crede traded

QUOTE (TheOcho @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) I'd like to get a few ideas for some White Sox novelty t-shirts, much like the one's you would find outside U.S. Cellular Field. Feel free to get as "Dirty" as you want. Any ideas would be appreciated or photos! Thank you all for the help and if I decide to make a t-shirt out of one of the designs I'm sure I'll send one or two your way. Thanks. How about my Quentin sign that I was on the big screen for 3 times, and mentioned in the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times... Q-UPERMAN

QUOTE (KevinM @ May 31, 2008 -> 08:51 AM) Ramirez and Uribe are essentially the same player, so I'm not really concerned who gets more playing time. Except Ramirez is younger, faster, better hitter, and can play the OF. And after Ramirez getting playing time the past couple weeks, im not so sure that they aren't very close in defensive ability. Ramirez has a lot more athletic ability, and they both have rocket arms. Give me the younger, faster player over Uribe please.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2008 -> 02:24 AM) I'd bet damn good money he's not throwing through a teacup in A ball. In fact, I'd venture to guess he's getting quite a few generous calls down there that he wouldn't dream about getting in AA. His control's a bit overrated. He's one to watch, but I'd look at how he does in AA or get a velocity report before I'd even consider Carter a prospect. Not a non-prospect, just a wait-and-see minor leaguer. Similar to Cook. Based on what? Maybe he is actually getting squeezed on those walks and he really is even better than his 66/10 shows. I mean, unless there is something to back that up, I dont think it's a fair assessment to make. -

Son of a b****. I am a jinx. Tonight Carter pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up 7 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 5 K's. His ERA is up to 2.77 now. Of COURSE this would happen. Ugh. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) That's actually a pretty positive little blurb - makes him sound pretty projectable, with good movement and location. Velocity may be a concern (who knows), but, its not everything in any case. I think the most encouraging thing is his awesome control. 61 K's and just 8 walks. Thats remarkable. As we saw with MacDougal, you can have electric stuff, but if you can't locate it, it dosen't matter. I love that this kid is throughing through a teacup. I am really excited about him just from what we have read and seen through his stats. Does anyone here have an MiLB account? You can watch all the Kannapolis games if you do. It's like $7 a month for the subscription. If anyone has it, it would be nice to hear how he looks. -
A poster over at SSS brought him to my attention. He is a 22 year old righthanded starting pitcher at Kanny. Here are his stats for this season thus far... 5-1, 1.92 ERA, 56 1/3 IP, 38 H, 3 HR, 9 BB, 61 K's, 0.83 WHIP That ERA, BB/K ratio, and WHIP are tremendous. I hope he makes AA before the season is over, and then AAA by 2009 season, and maybe make a bid at the rotation by 2010. I am getting a little ahead of myself, but his numbers are nasty right now. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=457580

June Wallpaper Featuring Alexei Ramirez
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to SoxFan1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
very nice. Got my new wallpaper for this month. -
I am going to say 2B is a good spot for an upgrade. Phillips - too good Roberts - Too high of price (see Cubs offer) Durham - Too old Sanchez - Do-able Hudson - Last year of contract, expressed interest in leaving ARI Ellis - Do-able Basically I see the most likely suited as Freddy Sanchez, Orlando Hudson, and Mark Ellis. Lets take a quick look at them. 2008 stats Hudson (30) - .307/.380/.491, 4 HR, 26 RBI, 12 2B, 3 3B, 2 SB Sanchez(30) - .238/.267/.310, 1 HR, 21 RBI, 12 2B, 0 3B, 0 SB MarkEllis(30)- .235/.323/.380, 4 HR, 16 RBI, 8 2B, 2 3B, 5 SB I like Hudson the most. He is having a good year this season, and provides above average defense at 2B. It also helps that Arizona has been a very good trade partner with us. Would they go for Lance Broadway or Kyle McCulough? Also, if possible, I would also like to see us make a move at getting Ryan Freel. I really like his style.

Pls Say Bye Bye AJP at No. 2 slot in order
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 24, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) problem is, we're faced with the choice of wanting someone who is good at being a #2 hitter, versus just putting someone there who can do...well...anything. not too many choices right now for who fills slots 1-4 now that Swisher is starting to get some walks again, i wouldnt mind having him at the top again. the sad truth is we dont have a #1 or a #2, so we have to make do. I mean, Cabrera really needs to bunt better. do all better. Put AJ at leadoff. Afterall, he did have a GREAT bunt down the 3rd base line Friday night.. But seriously. I want Swish hitting 2nd. Put him in a spot where he doesnt have to swing for the fences (3-6), dosen't feel like a jackass (7-9), and dosent have to sit and watch 4-5 pitches (leadoff). Try a lineup of... OCab Swish Q Dye Thome Konerko AJ Crede Ramirez Then it still pleases Ozzie with the handedness because its potentially R-L-R-R-L-R-L-R-R, which gives a decent variance. -
Did anyone who went tonight see my Quention "Q-uperman" sign? I was on the big screen 3 different times.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 23, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) Just bring a hoodie, you should be good with that. Yep. Im going to be wearing jeans and my winter jacket (Easier to smuggle in peanuts and pop). Also... I am going to be sporting a poster sized image that "Thecip" so cleverly made. I am going to be sitting 12 rows behind the visitors dugout, so there is a good chance you will see me with my sign. Will simply feature the picture with the words "Q-Man" underneath it. I am taking suggestions for other titles such as "Super-Q" or "Q-uperman" Incase you haven't seen.... Brilliant.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) Thanks, hopefully I'm not a jinx for the winning streak. You can all blame me if we lose. Me too. I will be in attendance as well. Won't bother me much if it rains, I have passes for the stadium club, so I will be dry.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) We did this last year or the year before, but, now we have new players. And I think some players changed theirs. Anyone know what Quentin, Swisher or Ramirez have as their intros now? Can anyone recall the existing ones? For the love of me I can't remember, but Swisher has a rap song. Quentin has some latino pop song. Not sure on Ramirez.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 22, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) for those of you who know much more about this than I do, the soonest we can expect to see him in Chicago? 2010. I imagine he starts in AAA next year, with some short september call up, then getting a look at an actual roster spot in 2010. -
Doesnt Dave Kaplan seem like a Cub fan?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 22, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Background: If the Sox win 10 games in a row, CTL's Dave Kaplan (and Nick Swisher) apparently will dye their hair pink. It started as an offhanded comment around the time of the pink bats and chia chins. But now it's snowballing and apparently they are making preparations to really do it and have a charity tie in. That said, when asked yesterday if he was rooting against the Sox for one of these next games, he pretty much yelled, "YES!" Which leads me to believe he's a Cub fan (if not another team).... and thus it will be pretty hilarious to (hopefully) watch him do one episode of CTL with pink hair. Did you ever consider the fact that he just dosen't want to dye his hair pink? -
5/21 gamethread: Indians vs Sox, 7:11, WCIU
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to witesoxfan's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Alexei has been improving, that's for sure. At least with him in the lineup, there is SOME speed. He also has a pretty good cannon at 2B. Not Uribe status, but he surely has a nice arm. His average is actually right in line with all the other slumpers. -
Cmon people SWISHER. He is already on the June calendar that the White Sox gave out, and he NEEDS a slumpbuster.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 17, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) SS Orlando Cabrera 3B Pablo Ozuna LF Carlos Quentin RF Jermaine Dye 1B Paul Konerko CF Nick Swisher 2B Alexei Ramirez C Toby Hall P Buehrle I think thats what Rongey just said. Feel free to correct if I am wrong noooo. AJ is hot right now. Let him play while he is hot, and certainly against a crowd that will fire him up. After making those comments about the fans booing yesterday being "weak", he will really hear it tonight.
