QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) Oh please. Griffey may not have the range anymore, but he'll get good reads and breaks on balls. Crazy Carl and Mack were just clueless out there. Griffey's played a little CF before. just a little.. and yes the sox split the contract with the reds, i feel bad for balta having to keep saying it

QUOTE (heirdog @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Or send Konerko to Arizona for Micah Owings (recently sent to AAA) and a spect please dont, we better be getting like 3 players back with him and 1 of them better be better then Owings Owings is going to AAA for a reason, Dbacks should just tell him to become a 1B

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) We should have offered Richar for Liriano. hell give them Masset too ...
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) Alexi Casilla is most likely out for the year, per Stone. Wow Yeah, Tony posted that a couple days ago, huge news which is why the Twins have been eyeing Roberts and the other available 2B
-
pretty much bad news all around for the twins ... I just dont know why they wont give up any of those players for Beltre, if would help us
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) Since the chances of Griffey to the Sox would have been seen as less than 1% yesterday, I wouldn't go assuming anything. true, but no one said Griffey wasnt going somewhere, or that the Reds werent making any deals
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) I think I've got this figured out... Swisher's headed back to Oakland in a deal involving Duchscherer, whom KW has been after for a couple of weeks.

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) Anyone hear Artest's comments this morning about what Yao said about him? Ha, this is going to be hilarious to watch. You can tell why Geoff Petrie just wanted to get rid of him. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3512419

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Your mistake. whats my mistake? haha, but its not a big deal it still going to be worn
-
Swisher better not give up his number, nor be going anywhere(obviously not likely he does) My Dirty 30 shirt hasnt even been worn yet
-
Nick Masset didnt know about the deal .. haha Once again i wasnt fully listening but some radio guy called him and hung up because they didnt want to break the news to him.
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Dye has played 1B and SS

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:11 AM) I am so excited for Griffey, but not excited for his defense anymore yeah probably my same feelings, except I am so excited for Griffy, but it will be interesting to see what Ozzie does with him
-
Yes ... Griffey! ... but yeah I have no clue where hes playing and I am not reading 24 pages. I woke up to Silvy and whoever else is on right now, and my first thoughts was that Fields would be going somewhere, but my nightmares went away quick. Anyways "Expect a package of Brian Anderson, Nick Massett, and Wes Whisler" thats what is says on ESPN, I see someone put what it says on CBS, we will just have to wait. "Griffey has approved a trade to the White Sox and is expected to join the club immediately, according to a source with knowledge of the deal." http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8398348...de-to-White-Sox He has accepted, I dont know if thats out there yet.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) I'm not trying to be Captain Wise-A** here, but when I think of hard, I think 95+. If Massett throws a moving 92-93 mph fastball right down the shoot, it has a good chance of going 400 feet, while a 95+ mph fastball right down the shoot is tougher. And yes, 2-3+ mph does make a difference. Floyd played those chances tonight, 93 MPH right down the middle to Morneau, and then there was a big breeze coming from his way.
-
He Rakes and K's ... its that simple, for just the thought why not throw it out there, but yeah. I am thinking you could see him called up if Manny is traded to the Marlins.
-
QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 11:09 PM) I didnt know the Indians picked up Steroid Stacker Jaun Rincon .. he'll lose it for the Indians definitely saw this one coming Detroit is up 14-12 right now
-
Alright, changing views here a little bit. What are people thoughts of what Bay will do in Boston? He'll be in a big market now, unlike Pitt, I think it will be interesting to see him play in Boston and see if he goes right to the 4th spot to the lineup.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) Is there a chance we will wake up to a trade? What time is deadline? Does the deal have to be announced by deadline? Just trying to figure out how that works... Deadline I believe is 3 central, I could be wrong but I thought thats what it usually is. If teams call the MLB offices they may be granted with extra time to finish all necessary needs of a close to be done trade. Will we wake up to one? Well what time do you wake up? I would say No unless you wake up after the deadline

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) Picks can't be traded but the Marlins will get 2 draft picks as compensation when Manny signs elsewhere in free agency. 1.) Manny rates out in the top 20% of OF, 1B and DH for the '07/'08 seasons by the Elias Sports Bureau, making him a Type A player 2.) The Marlins decline the 2009 $20M option they hold on Manny 3.) The Marlins offer Manny arbitration 4.) Manny declines arbitration 5.) Some team signs Manny in free agency 6.) If said team finished with a top 15 record in 2008 and did not sign any other Type A free agents before signing Manny the Marlins get that team's 2009 1st round pick as well as a sandwich pick (somewhere between 31 and 45 overall) 6.a) If said team had finished with a bottom 15 record and has yet to sign a Type A free agent the Marlins get said team's 2nd round draft pick 6.B.) If Manny is signed by a team that has already signed a Type A free agent then the Marlins will receive either a 2nd or 3rd round pick depending upon said team's 2008 record. yeah thanks for going through all that if actually wrote it all out haha , I guess i just didnt pick up what you meant at first

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) He means it as when Florida doesn't pony up the cash to Manny in the offseason to re-sign him, they'll get those picks. Just like how Milwaukee will in the end have 5 first round/sandwhich picks next year after losing Sabathia, and how the Sox will get 2 for losing OC. EDIT- Beat me to it. yeah, you couldnt correct me again bummer ...
