QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) One of my all time favorite players. ew -- since you took that out of my quote

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) Not Wee Willie, how can that be? oh it can be Wee Willie very easily .. I went to the game where he hit his first career home run(or his first in the sox ballpark, but im pretty sure it was his first career) so I he looked like a bright young star to fix our second base problems ... yeah that worked out well

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) I think that's what we're trying to figure out. What exactly is there not to like about him? well not everyone is perfect .. (besides josh fields of course ) .. but I think the reason I didnt like him was because he was on the Cubs before that 03 season as well as 01 and I just didnt want him which may be where the dislike came from .. and yes you can throw on the how many others players who have been on the cubs and gone to the Sox and ask me if I hate them too for the same reason, but no I just never found a liking toward him

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Flash is probably one of my favorite Sox of all time. oh well .. I am not gonna hold it against anyone for saying they liked Flash .. and I hope no one is going to hold it against me for saying he was one of my least favorite players part of the Sox .. but as much as a fine player he was with the Sox there was just something about him I just never liked back when he was with the team

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) What the hell was wrong with Tom Gordon? Great 2003 season, cried when the Sox died in Minny, and we used two of the draft picks we received for him on the overrated Gio Gonzalez. i never said i hated the guy because of the great 2003 season he had .. just never liked the guy

QUOTE(rockren @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) I agree that was probably a sticking point....we wanted Figgins....they wanted to give Matthews. Something along those lines was probably the deal breaker. However if they had the chance to get Erv, Howie and Speier for Konerko....they should've jumped all over it and have worried about who their leadoff hitter was later. Hell if we got Kendrick...I could stomach Jerry Owens in CF leading off. hell if they want to keep Figgins I would still give them Crede and ask for Willits back, Willits just seems like a player the Angels are happy to have, but if hes traded they wont really be worried. For the angels then you have your 2 corner players and put figgins in the OF

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Just for conversation. What team in the Central is gonna get the most good starts over a 162 game season? The names below are orderd by Indians, Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Royals #1 Sabathia, Verlander, Santana, Buehrle, Meche #2 Carmona, Rogers, Bonser, Vazquez, Bannister #3 Byrd, Bonderman, Baker, Contreras, Greinke #4 Westbrook, Willis, Slowey, Danks, Davies #5 Laffey, Robertson, TBD, Floyd, De La Rosa By may Liriano should be back in the rotation so that should be interesting, Blackburn or Perkins will probably take that number 5 spot til he comes back

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7656588 have anybody posted about this yet? I think this has a WAY better chance of happening then a 3 way deal, the Orioles net much better players, if anyone looks back and sees my post about Triunfel, hes an 18 year old(at the start of 08 season) who I think just has incredible upside. Then of course getting Jones gives you OF, and Tillman who could be a future replacement of Bedard, and then Sherrill goes in the BP now for them. Also this means Bedard would be going to the West and the Angels did not want that to happen at all, so if this went down what do you think their mindset would be? Would they stay put and panic and try to make a trade?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Who was the guy the Cubs took then? Tyler Colvin maybe? Because I remember they then didn't draft from round 2 to 4 or 5, but they really went over slot when they had their next pick. In 06 the Cubs took Colvin with the 13 overall then took the Shark with like 149

Alex Ovechkin can call Washington his home for a couple more years ... http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3190712

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Ideally that would be the best scenario. I'd just like to see more of an international presence from us also. With us not having a 2nd round pick, we need to take the best player available at #8. I want a Jay Bruce type of prospect there, not a Drew Stubbs (I think that was the guy the Cubs took in the 1st round a year or 2 back). Cincinnati Reds drafted him in 06 with the same 1st rounder the Sox possess in this June draft

What happened tonight just should not happen. This is starting to get sad, 88-78 in favor of Bulls going into the 4th quarter and the final score is 105-100 once again Joe Smith is a stud .. but that is it I can not even really comment on this game .. do not lose to the Knicks
-
what a horrible game .. Loss 4-3 in OT ... 2nd period was fun to watch .. but god damn Lalime(had a couple good stops) Goal Scorers were Skille(first career), Lang, and Versteeg I really like the way Versteeg has been playing though he definitely deserves to stay up, Havlet again needs to get back to his ways because he just still not there all the way though he added 1 point with the assist on Lang goal. Samsonov, I liked him, but he did play 23 games this season and was not productive .. the thing I liked the most about him was his speed on that ice, but now hes off to Carolina, we pay half his contract -- Carolina takes the other half

I am just wow'd by the big names on this list

QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) I just don't think the Sox have enough to land Bedard. Besides, this is simple speculation from some fans imagination, but I will play along. Here is a realistic 3 way trade that would likely work for everyone. Sox gets: 2B Roberts(Baltimore) RP Bradford OR Walker(Baltimore) SP Santana(LA) CF GMJ(LA) LA gets: 1B Konerko(Chicago) 3B Crede(Chicago) Baltimore gets: 2B Richar(Chicago) SP Broadway(Chicago) 1B Kockman(LA) Why it works: Sox - They address all of their remaining weaknesses. They get a leadoff hitter, an upgrade in CF, a veteran reliever, and a young starter with upside for the bottom of the rotation. LA - They get the big bat to protect Vlad, a slight upgrade at 3B if Crede is healthy, and they get rid of GMJ's contract. Baltimore - They get 3 young major league ready players for 2 veterans. Now back to reality. Invalid trade anyways since LAA needs to get something from Baltimore for giving them Kotchman and I believe Balt is trying to find an OFer in package return for Roberts I know its all speculation but had to point that stuff out and I would have to say I would take my chances with Owens over GMJ kill me if you must, but thats just me. Id rather have to bat Owens 9th then have to throw GMJ somewhere around 7-8th spot.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Bedard and Matthews Jr to Sox for Crede and Paulie. hmmmm. I hate having to take GMJ's contact but to get Bedard it might be something to consider. where did you get that information anywhere in that link? .. some guy made up some offer that he would like. He also said the Angels would give up Kotchman, Santana, Willits, and a spec ... why did we bring the Orioles into the deal if the Angels could have just given up Kotchman, Santana, Willits, and a spec for Konerko and Crede anyways like i said thats more then likely not the deal so lets not speculate over it plus in order for it to actually be a 3 way each team has to get something from each team *Speculation* Something like the Angels getting Brian Roberts, Konerko, Crede Orioles get Kotchman, Richar, Conger(why not) Sox get Kendrick, Figgins/Willts, Santana, GMJ You got to love my speculation, and thats probably not goign to happen, would be fun to see, but just an example of how a 3 way would have to go

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) I was way off on start time... I missed the opening TD. Damn Gladiators yeah i just turned on the game as was surprised to see a 7-0 OSU lead already and now they are at the LSU 10 -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) Im a big Jose Lopez fan, so if we deal with the Mariners id hope he was involved.... maybe somethng like Konerko/Richar for Lopez, Jones, and a spec? Idonno how much of a prospect is Jones anyways? Jones is their top prospect by a good amount .. I would hardly see Konerko for Jones even more getting Lopez I see that not happening. Jones has a nice amount of power, good speed, plays OF(mostly center) and I believe he can play the middle infield positions. If Konerko to Mariners talks actually happened I would have to make sure to ask for Carlos Triunfel, not as a main piece, hes a bit under the radar right now but I think he will be on the top 10 for them this season, hes a middle infielder, SS mostly. He turns 18 in February
