You'd think the schedule favors them. They play the Rockies this weekend and then the Braves and Brewers next week, who will have nothing to play for and will probably want to setup their playoff rotations (especially the Brewers).

Miami has the Brewers, Mets, and Pirates left. Brewers' magic # is 1 now I believe, so they may lay down if the Cubs lose one game this weekend.

Reds have the Pirates, Guardians, and Cardinals.

Padres have Cardinals, Giants, and Sox, but they're 4 back with 9 to play, so they basically have to go undefeated.

Schedule has favored the Cubs so far and they're playing like garbage.

Eloy at MLB level: huge power, good hit. Quickly outgrew every position, but the bat will play anywhere. Topped out at 20 homers due to no improvement in approach and the fact that he never learned how to move in his body.

Eloy has issues but topping out at 20 homers isn't one of them - he hit 31 in his rookie year (122 games) and has averaged 34 in 162 games. He just can't stay on the field to ever get there. This year is the most disappointing to me, as he's going to play in 125+ games but with .70 less SLG points than his rookie year.

I still just don't buy that white sox player development is particularly more aggressive in swing changes and pitching motion adjustments. I remember TA saying he was barely coached until AAA.

I'm just making jokes because I'm sad

  4. Sox hitting coaches: "Looking great Colson! We think we just a few minor adjustments you could be even better, though. Instead of being selective and driving the ball, we think you should swing at everything and hit grounders up the middle and to the opposite field!"

he'd be a good hire for minors for sure.

I think he underachieved given the resources he had at major league level, his returns, and that dombrowski's hole is overstated.

Man I dunno. They were in the ALCS two years ago and play in the toughest division in baseball.

  6. If Bloom doesn't immediately find another job I would love for the Sox to bring him in as an advisor to help with just about everything. It seemed like he was doing a decent job rebuilding in Boston after Dombrowski tore everything down for the 2018 championship.

Not gonna happen though. But I'll dream.

  7. I don't think they're going to get anything better in free agency (the list is pretty dreadful) so they might as well hang on to him and, if he sustains this performance, they can flip him for a little something at the 2024 ASB. His back issues make me super nervous, though.

Then 1/3rd of America qualifies, lol.

In all seriousness, did we honestly expect Dave Wilder was going to respond to questions related to JR/KW/Hahn by first apologizing to White Sox fans for destroying our Dominican operations going on almost 20 years later?

I doubt many people would be stupid enough to do it in a print interview 15 years after it happened, so no. There are plenty of ways for Wilder to bring up the same points about how poorly this team is run without using it to justify his actions.

If everyone who got greedy because they believed they were underpaid (or simply thought they could get away with skimming) was defined as a "sociopath," the list would be exponentially expanded.

If those people show no remorse and place the blame on others? Yes, absolutely.
