HRI is very good, but I typically pick up V & N II, which is probably not available in Florida.

Its associated with the one in Hickory Hills, not the Chicago one on Pulaski.

I like the sauce on these the best, crust is good, cheese & toppings meh but works in a pinch.

Can't remember if I tried Vito & Nicks frozen or not. Don't remember ever seeing it. Grew up in Oak Lawn though so we would go to the one on Pulaski a lot.

I like New Haven style. Also the rhode island clam pizzas.

I actually think truth be told I love all pizzas. Have extremely strong feelings once we enter frozen pizzas, where there is HRI and then you are better off getting $1 pizzas than any of the trash above it. But whether its detroit, tavern style, deep dish, new york, new haven, neopolitan, brazilian, japanese....i've loved it all. Didn't put down st louis, but its good. It's just definitely ranking at the bottom for me personally.

I also think Illitch is probably fine, just took over at a weird time and then was too deferential to starting with his fathers last hire (right?). New group seems good. He still splurged on Erod/Baez when they thought they were about to pop.

edit : i spelled japanese with a z for some reason.

Home Run Inn is the king of frozen pizzas and no one else is close. So glad I can still get it in Florida.

  3. I dug into his splits a bit, wondering if he's unlocked something. And the answer is... maybe? He basically hasn't walked since the all-star break - his batting average has gone up by 49 points in H2 vs H1, but his OBP is DOWN 7 points. That seems hard to do. SLG up by 19 points.

Over the last month, though, he's at .299/.322/.460, which is fine. .313/.327/.542 over the last 2 weeks. If he gets that OBP up he'll be a nice low-mid .800s OPS guy, which I think will put him over 2 WAR as a first baseman over a full season. He's probably never going to be more than mid-high 4s SLG, though, unless he earns more power through being more selective or through a swing improvement. I doubt the Sox can do either.

I think there are a couple possibilities at work here.

    Talented pitchers but bad approach.

    Good approach but no talent.

    No talent and bad approach.

I think I know what most folks here will pick.

Combo of 1 and 3. Also stuff regression, especially Cease.

Well they aren't rebuilding either, so what exactly are they doing then?

They're definitely rebuilding. A team that loses 100 games is going through a rebuild. There's gonna be a ton of roster and personnel turnover in the next couple years. Getz is either as delusional as Jerry is, or he's walking a very thin line.

This is a great post. How much wasted money is going to be spent on patches to a 100 loss team with a mirage of competing in 2024/2025? Not to mention the decline in value of whatever assets we could have traded at higher returns.

The only positive I can see is, this team is almost surely a 90+ loss team again next season so maybe they pull the plug on the competing shtick sometime next season. I would be concerned if they had a chance to be middling around 81-81 but they are so bad the rebuild hand will probably be forced.

Most of what Getz has been saying indicates they don't expect to compete next year.
