  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) How is this for a time to revisit the deal that had been discussed both with the Pirates and then with the Pirates and Yankees involved McCutcheon. Tyler Glasnow is having another horrible run in the majors. 44 walks in 62 innings and an era in the Dylan Covey range. Kevin Newman put up a pretty mediocre year splitting time between AA and AAA putting up a combined line of .267/.311/.363/.675. Even Austin Meadows who we really wanted, but wasn't ever supposedly available put up a mediocre year. Mitch Keller was the only guy connected to the deal who really put up a good year for the Pirates this year. I know people have focused on the Astros for ire, but did anyone sacrifice more and get less than the Pirates turning down the offers for Quintana? They might regret it, but even with Quintana the Pirates weren't a serious playoff contender. There's also plenty of time for these guys to rebound - Glasnow might be better suited for the bullpen though.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Carson Fulmer post Sept recall 10.2 IP, 2 ER, 5H, 5 BB, 12K 1.68 ERA, 0.937 WHIP. He's gotta get those walks down a bit but I really like what I've seen from him lately. If he's throwing strike 1 he's so hard to hit. A WHIP below 1 with 5 walks in 10 innings is crazy.
  3. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) I'll be back to drag you guys down, especially since I quit before TTK. Invite sent!
  4. If anyone is looking for a Destiny 2 group to play with, I've got a consistent group of at least six, and probably more. We should always be able to fill out a strike/nightfall/crucible/raid team or two. Send me your PSN and I'll give you a clan invite.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) My impression about how the sox are handling these players after this year is for their top prospects they say they will slowplay them, but have given those players something to work on. As soon as it seems they have put in the work to get around that, they get promoted and the team starts immediately talking them up as close to the bigs. Collins k rate went down to 18% in august. Kopech cut his bb rates down. Whether they actually do this is another thing. But I could see a case where this is real and they are reenforcing the idea that those items will prevent you from being a long-term big leaguer so take care of them first. This makes sense - "hey to be successful in the majors you need to do X, Y and Z. Once we see you make progress/hit these milestones, we'll put you on the fast track because you'll be ready".
  6. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) After reading this asinine "preview" from RR I'm ready to sweep their asses: https://www.royalsreview.com/2017/8/11/1612...s-derek-holland What a royal jackass that author is. If you're going to be painfully unfunny at least don't be a Royals fan as well. Eh, just clickbait garbage trying to get a reaction out of people. Not worth even thinking about.
  7. Why would you walk a guy to get to a guy who already had a HR and double?
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) I'm going to say we see him as the #1 prospect in baseball on some lists in 2018. Having two different guys at #1 two years in a row would just be crazy. This rebuild might not be as successful as we hope but the Sox are doing just about everything right.
  9. Insider link Nothing we really don't know - he covers our strong top 10 (how we fit 15+ quality prospects into a top 10), Jimenez, and Robert. Also mentions Collins, Basabe, Giolito and Fulmer performing below expectations.
  10. I'm blaming that strikeout on the bunt attempt on that ball Hendricks left up.
  11. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) For a good laugh you guys should check out the Astros subreddit "Good, I was really worried that we would overpay for mediocrity." 16 points an hour ago "Smells like a Drayton move. This’ll bite CHI in the ass down the road, not to mention Quintana isn’t enough to boost the Cubs’ 2017 postseason aspirations." 6 points an hour ago Some salty Astros fan in the r/baseball thread about the trade too. Buncha "good we didn't want him anyways!"
  12. Top 6 is all position prospects - Rosario/Torres/Devers/Robles/Eloy Jimenez #5/Mejia Talks about Giolito throwing 95 again due to getting advice from James Shields.
  13. Open rupture of right patella tendon for Fowler. Having surgery tonight.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) Seriously...you are rebuilding...at the minimum, if you didn't want a player on the roster this year (cause you wanted to play the 18 pg's we have)...at least just take a flyer on a Euro player. Not doing anything and getting cash (for a very rich organization) is a complete and utter embarassment. Are GAR/PAX going to max someone this year and then try for 2 more max guys next year or something? At this point I wouldn't be surprised.
  15. Per source, Jimmy Butler has informed Cavs that he wants to stay in Chicago rather than be traded to Cleveland.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) So I don't know who else is paying attention, but we are to round 30. We still have picked exactly 1 HS player. Not only that, but our last 11 straight picks are college seniors, or even a 5th year senior. Day 3 has given us exactly zero young lottery tickets. 12 of our 20 picks so far today are seniors. So weird. I wonder why? No worthwhile lottery tickets, or maybe monetary issues?
  17. From Keith Law's latest chat:
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 05:49 PM) Reminder that the Sox have a new development staff.Sure, but Kendall's strikeouts are really high, and I don't have any faith yet that we can be the first team to turn someone with his K rate in college into a productive player.
  19. Beck's the most interesting of the prospects potentially available around when the Sox pick to me. I'm a little hesitant because of our inability to develop hitters, but someone like Kendall I'd be even more hesitant on due to the strikeouts.
  20. Seems like a lot of concern he could be a reliever. I'd rather focus on positional talent early and take pitching to develop in the later rounds.
