  1. This was gonna happen with Saladino eventually. Hopefully he bounces back from these mistakes.
  2. It's weird to have a guy on this team who doesn't flail at junk and takes his walks.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) I would consider that. But if you trade both Quintana and Samardzija, man, you are decimating this starting rotation. Bright side, I guess, would be that there is a crap ton of starting pitching FAs available this coming offseason. It would, but I trust this organization to develop pitching way more than hitting, so I think this is the kind of move you need to make, unless you want to wait around hoping we figure out how to develop hitters, or take more chances on the free agent market.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Speaking of Dayan ... how's he hitting in the minors? Is he making a decent comeback? Not good. He's hitting .214/.277/.330/.607 so far over 100+ PA in the PCL, a notorious hitter's league.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Still amazes me that Hendricks has really not been touched up in his career so far.He has good control. Paints the corners for 2 strikes, then throws junk.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) I totally get the love. He's a physically gifted player. He has the physical tools to be a really good player. Taking those tools and turning them into an actual contributing ballplayer continues to be a much bigger step than this organization treats it as.A step this organization has failed at repeatedly with other players. It boggles my mind that we go after raw players with tons of potential, when we can't develop any offensive talent - then again, even the polished players (like Beckham) fail here, so I don't know.
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) All the Cub fans yesterday were complaining about the Cardinals getting "lucky", as if the Cubs haven't pulled a bunch of wins completely out of their asses this year.Yeah, another "lucky" night for the Cardinals I guess. 8 lucky runs.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) This is a high risk for this organization. They a) can't develop them any further b) ruin them by getting them to learn a new position they never played It is, which is why it's such a big deal they haven't been able to develop any in years. Also, I think it's going to be very difficult to get teams to trade away their prized hitting prospects in the high minors since offense is at such a premium now.
  9. Sox were going after Jason Castro pretty hard it looks like. First offered Hector Santiago, then Bourjos from LAA.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ May 20, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) That trade is illegal, and we also do not own Bobcats pick anymore, that was sent to Denver last year. And if Knicks trade pick, they will want to trade it to a team that will get them the chance of future lottery picks.I thought it was only illegal to trade coaches for players, not coaches for picks, even if players are traded from our side.
  11. http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/samsmith/dra...-nba-mock-draft Some chatter in the comments about the Knicks wanting to trade their pick. I wonder if Thibs/our pick/the Bobcats pick option/Noah/Taj/etc could get it done? If so, what would the Bulls want at #4?
  12. I'm still not a fan of trading Semien for what could be one year of Samardzijia (much less THIS version of him), but I feel his numbers are misleading. His walk rate is the lowest of his career (6.6%), he's still striking out 20% of the time, and his BABIP is like 30 points higher than his previous full-season high (.359 vs .323). I'd bet he's due for a regression soon, and I don't think that version of Semien makes up for his defense.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) He was pretty good today actually. Agreed. The home run was wind-aided quite a bit, but in general you can't make mistakes to the Royals right now because they'll hit every one of them hard.
  14. Errors are about the only way we're going to score lately. Hopefully this opens the door for a big inning, though.
  15. I'd like to say Volquez has been unhittable today, but like half our lineup is hitting under .200. It's this team more than anything. Anything hittable we've missed, for the most part.
  16. 50 pitches in the 5th. Man we can't work a count.
  17. That was a break. No idea what the Royals are thinking there.
  18. QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) Volquez is missing his spots a ton today. It's surprising we haven't been able to get anything going until now (maybe not so surprising with this terrible strike zone).Real big mistake to LaRoche there. Too bad he's completely unable to hit right now.
  19. Volquez is missing his spots a ton today. It's surprising we haven't been able to get anything going until now (maybe not so surprising with this terrible strike zone).
  20. 3-0. Yeah... this is probably going off soon. Hopefully this offense wakes up before the All-Star break, and it'll sure be nice to stop playing the Royals.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) What is going to finally get this offense going? No idea. Abreu is fine. Melky has been alright. Just about everyone else has been awful.
  22. Danks looks fine, especially for where I expect him to be. The problem is the offense.
  23. Haha man if Jose was playin' dead there... What a mastermind.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) He's fine. Just a little bruise.Man I hope so. He fell hard but it didn't look awkward or like he pulled anything.
