Cease was hitting 96-97 today with a good slider. This is the guy who dominated last year.

Schedule has favored the Cubs so far and they're playing like garbage.

Games seem to spiral so quickly out of control with this team. I'd blame that on Pedro but it's been happening since 2020, just more often now because the team blows.

Writing was on the wall with him. Going to Japan is probably his best option now.

Eloy has issues but topping out at 20 homers isn't one of them - he hit 31 in his rookie year (122 games) and has averaged 34 in 162 games. He just can't stay on the field to ever get there. This year is the most disappointing to me, as he's going to play in 125+ games but with .70 less SLG points than his rookie year.

If Bloom doesn't immediately find another job I would love for the Sox to bring him in as an advisor to help with just about everything. It seemed like he was doing a decent job rebuilding in Boston after Dombrowski tore everything down for the 2018 championship. Not gonna happen though. But I'll dream.

I don't think they're going to get anything better in free agency (the list is pretty dreadful) so they might as well hang on to him and, if he sustains this performance, they can flip him for a little something at the 2024 ASB. His back issues make me super nervous, though.

I doubt many people would be stupid enough to do it in a print interview 15 years after it happened, so no. There are plenty of ways for Wilder to bring up the same points about how poorly this team is run without using it to justify his actions.
