  1. He's a DH/1B only on a team with Eloy and Vaughn already in those positions. You also have Colas and Benintendi as left-handed hitters in RF/LF, where Sheets could technically "play". There just isn't a position for him on this team. I'm guessing he'll be a backup outfielder or in AAA most of the year, unless he gets super hot and the Sox can trade him for something (doubtful).
  2. There's no way the Jaguars move to Chicago. Jacksonville has 1.7M in the metro area, the stadium is in a decent location, the weather is great, and it's the only pro sports team around here. The team is finally pretty good and the city rallied behind them. No pro football team is moving to be in Soldier Field unless the city spends billions and completely disrupts the south loop and museum campus for years.
  3. They're really featuring Colas a lot. Hope the hype doesn't end up hurting him when he struggles to acclimate to the majors.
  4. It's concerning to not see Colas in these rankings, especially since he torched the minors last year. I think he might struggle with contact and pitch recognition given some of what I've heard here and read.
  5. Buddy of mine is dealing with the same thing. It's remarkable how awful his ex-wife is.
  6. How is Marisnick's defense now? He can't really hit but if his D is good he's a 4th OF candidate.
  7. Even in that case the Sox have no business taking him back, as they already have Grandal, Zavala and Perez who can give them what McCann does and probably more. That is also not a compliment to any of those players.
  8. I don't know either. McCann has been HORRIBLE since he signed that contract. A team with a hard salary cap they're right on the border of should not be taking any more dead money.
  9. Bauer has done an amazing job showing fans what being an MLB player is like - the training regimens, the "day in a life" blogging, reviewing his performances and reviewing pitching highlights from other players (like Gio's no-hitter). His Momentum content is entertaining now as well. He's been facing high school and college hitters and talking them through how an MLB pitcher thinks. This side of what he does is great for baseball and we need more of it. He's also a complete idiot at best and a terrible person at worst. The White Sox don't need the headaches he would bring. Someone will sign him once his suspension is over, but they'll probably regret it to some degree unless he's really learned his lesson (and I doubt he has).
  10. If the Dodgers aren't signing Correa or Swanson, then why hasn't this trade happened already? I assume both teams have heavily scouted each other due to the Kimbrel/Pollock trade (and from what Hi8is said previously), so the framework is likely in place. The free agent market for SS shouldn't matter to them now that Turner and Bogaerts signed. I dunno, this all just smells of the same BS trade rumor crap we've seen over and over again. When these things happen they come together quickly and rumors don't linger.
  11. Why would the Dodgers do any of this when they can just sign Swanson?
  12. I'd rather have Eloy in LF and Colas in RF than Gallo. Gallo was PUTRID in NY, and wasn't any better in LA. Getting away from the Yankees wasn't the problem.
  13. Gleyber Torres was a hell of a lot better last year than I thought. He's only 25 and isn't a FA until 2025. I'd for sure do this deal (especially if it adds Conforto or Nimmo), but why would the Yankees make this trade?
  14. Man I will miss Jose. Favorite Sox player from some lean years. It was time, though.
  15. I don't share everyone else's optimism about Burger, though I'd like to. He's a DH only who can only really hit lefties.
  16. I'd be fine with this if it costs the Sheets/Burger level, but I doubt it will. This team cannot afford to trade any prospects with good future value given their budget constraints. Also if its Wong or some mediocre reliever at $10 mil give me Wong 100%
  17. With Colas in RF and Robert in CF I'd be ok with Eloy/Winker in LF. I don't see a way for them to maintain decent offense in LF and get better defense without a miracle.
  18. He's hit everywhere but Seattle, and even there he was roughly league average. How else are you going to get a decent left handed hitter with some pop in this lineup with their budgetary restrictions and barren minor leagues?
  19. Yeah he's bad, but so is Eloy. Not sure they can afford someone who can hit and field in LF so this might be the best they can do.
  20. I wouldn't mind betting on a bounce back from Winker assuming the price isn't crazy - and it shouldn't be, with one year left on his deal and his struggles in Seattle. Get a LH bat in the lineup at a low salary ($8M) in a similar park environment to Cincinnati where he was over an .800 OPS every year. Also lets you play Eloy at DH.
  21. Do we know why he left? Just the Dusty Baker thing?
  22. I heard they sacrificed the scout who recommended this trade to their dark god
