  1. Len Lesser who played Uncle Leo on Seinfeld has passed away. He was 88.
  2. Reinsdorf won't let anyone wear #6. It was unofficially retired for Charley Lau. Otherwise, Beckham would be 6 now.
  3. Rod Allen is a Tigers broadcaster. They were heavy on the Tigers last week on MLBN. I try not to care about "Sox Love" from the national media. I go with a "Who cares? Just win, baby." attitude.

  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Nothing fancy to start this thread out with. Since it's training camp time, here's the thread for the teams we play 19 times each season. The last time the Sox had a schedule where they played a team 19 games in a season was 2006. It's been 9 home/9 away since then. Of course, the Sox ended up playing the Twins 19 games in 2008, but it's a scheduled 18 games, and has been for several years now.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) Your 2011 White Sox numbers: 1- Pierre 3- Baines 8- Cox 10- Ramirez 11- Vizquel 12- Pierzynski 13- Guillen 14- Konerko 15- Beckham 17- Flowers 18- Lillibridge 20- Quentin 21- Cooper 22- Morel 23- Teahen 24- Viciedo 26- Crain 27- Castro 28- Cora 29- Walker 30- De Aza 31- Ohman 32- Dunn 33- Jackson 34- Floyd 36- Nieves 37- Thornton 38- Gartrell 40- Bruney 41- Humber 44- Peavy 45- McPherson 46- Santos 47- Infante 48- Marquez 49- Sale 50- Danks 51- Rios 52- Kinney 53- Dolsi 54- Nunez 55- Lucy 56- Buehrle 57- Pena 58- Harrell 59- Salas 60- Gray 61- Hynick 62- Escobar 63- Cofield 64- Carter 65- Jones 66- Lindsay 67- Danks 68- Socolovich 70- Bellamy 71- Leesman 74- Price 75- Phegley 76- Short Ohman is now going with 77. Milledge has been assigned #5.
  7. Eh, maybe it'll be Chris Sale. If he's stretching himself out in spring training, he can start until Peavy is ready. I think Sale can make the move from starter to bullpen one time during the season. But if he moves from starter to bullpen in April, he's got to stay in the pen the rest of the season. He can't keep bouncing back and forth.
  8. Man, it would really suck if they play 6 months of baseball, only for it to end up Phillies/Red Sox in the Series.
  9. Trust me, there's no way in hell anyone is pitching on short rest in April. Not going to happen.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) He'd be out there for 3 innings. Then bring in the other scrub relievers. They don't want to add another pitcher to the 25 man if they can help it. Not many guys have options left. I could go for that. Probably will depend on who gets the 7th spot in the pen.
  11. I don't think Tony Pena is in that 5th starter/spot starter mix. It's much more likely that it's Phil Humber or Lucas Harrell. Don Cooper also mentioned Jeff Gray the other day.
  12. Gonzales is wrong about not needing a 5th starter until April 10th. It's actually April 9th. I'd go: 4-1 Cle Buehrle 4-2 Cle Jackson 4-3 Cle Danks 4-4 4-5 KC Floyd 4-6 KC Buehrle 4-7 TB Jackson 4-8 TB Danks 4-9 TB 5th starter 4-10 TB Floyd 4-11 Oak Buehrle 4-12 Oak Jackson 4-13 Oak Danks 4-14 4-15 LAA Floyd 4-16 LAA Buehrle 4-17 LAA Jackson 4-18 TB Danks 4-19 TB 5th starter ...and so on. At the earliest, I hope Peavy isn't considered to start until April 19th.
  13. Ozzie is on with Ranger, and it sounds like Ozzie has had a change of heart about the lineup. He originally said Dunn would bat third, but now he's saying it's Rios--which is perfect to me. This is what he just said the lineup will be if all goes well: Pierre Beckham Rios Dunn Konerko Quentin Pierzynski Ramirez Morel or Teahen (but we all know it's Morel)
  14. I gotta go with the guy that hits 40 bombs with a .380 OBP every year.
  15. Listening to Bill Melton on ESPN1000. Still calling him Chris Sales. Mid-season form for that guy.
  16. AL East (wins)- Bos (98), NY (91), Bal (78), TB (76), Tor (74) AL Central- Sox (93), Det (92), Min (87), Cle (72), KC (63) AL West- Oak (89), Tex (85), LAA (79), Sea (67) NL East- Phi (99), Atl (91), Fla (85), NY (75), Was (67) NL Central- Mil (90), StL (88), Cin (87), Chi (79), Hou (74), Pit (63) NL West- SF (91), Col (89), LA (84), SD (76), Arz (68) Playoffs: AL: Det at Bos; Oak at Sox NL: Atl at SF; Mil at Phi
  17. Catchers: 1. Joe Mauer 2. Buster Posey 3. Brian McCann 4. Victor Martinez 5. Yadier Molina 6. Carlos Santana 7. Carlos Ruiz 8. John Buck 9. Kurt Suzuki 10. Matt Wieters
  18. Buehrle's got a right to his own opinion, but what a dumbass for saying anything publically. He can speak in generalities about treating animals the right way, but to point out Vick specifically is beyond dumb. I hope some of the leaders on the team (Konerko and maybe Dunn) make a point at the beginning of spring training that outside distractions won't be tolerated this season, and that they're there for one thing--to win baseball games.

    2011 TV Thread

I watched the first 10 minutes of Mr. Sunshine. Didn't laugh once, and deleted it.
  20. The Sox won't need a 5th starter until April 9th, and then not again until April 19th. At the very least, I hope they use Harrell or Humber on the 9th, and then not let Peavy start until the 19th at the earliest. No need to rush him.
  21. Obviously, that must not bother me as much as the stuff I mentioned. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) Do you mean like typing in incomplete sentences?
  22. Not knowing the difference between then and than, lose and loose, and not knowing that "alot" isn't a word. It's "a lot". Just stuff that makes me think that kids aren't being taught anything in school.
  23. His name is still Teahen. Maybe he should change his name to Teahan...flip the script.
