  1. I think Dunn takes #45. Hopefully he'll hit that many homers too.
  2. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) OK, since I'm too lazy to look it up in this monster thread....what are we looking at, payroll wise? I'm assuming the hopes are that we find a way to get PK back at first, and say goodbye to Jenks. They're close to $100 million now, and that's before Quentin, Danks, and Pena. If they sign Konerko, they'll be around $120-$125 . Big-city baseball team.
  3. Doesn't Freddy have to sign with the White Sox first?
  4. I like the Dunn signing assuming it will happen. I just hope it means they don't have to dump pitching to afford him. Or settle for Tyler Flowers at catcher.
  5. Josh Phegley had his spleen removed Nov. 5. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...en-surgery.html
  6. Yeah, Quentin is a liability in RF, but that's all we got right now. De Aza might be a decent defensive replacement if he makes the roster.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) Yuk. If those two guys are regulars for our Sox, we may be in for a last place campaign ... unless our pitching simply dominates. If the Sox signed Matsui and Pena and also got AJ back, I could live with this lineup: Pierre, Beckham, Rios, Matsui, Quentin, Pena, Ramirez, Pierzynski, Morel. There's some potential there, and the infield defense is real good. And they can do it without giving up starting pitching.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Do you mean 2 more years at 12 million each year? Yes. Just two more guaranteed years at what he's made the last 5 years. $24 mil, plus an option for $12 in 2013.
  9. Maybe it'll happen next week, but it's surprising there haven't been any real offers made public for PK. It's too bad the Sox couldn't get him to come back for 2 more years at $12, and an option for a third. If he can do better, he should take it.
  10. The Sox should try to get one-year deals with Carlos Pena and Hideki Matsui and try to catch lightning in a bottle. If it doesn't work, dump everyone next July. This organization is a mess right now.
  11. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) your NL MVP: Joey Votto Sox should try to get Yonder Alonso.
  12. Looks like pitchers Brian Bruney and Josh Kinney will be non-roster invites according to the Twitter world.
  13. Mitchell got a single in his final AB to end his AFL at .163 (13-80), 1 2B, 1 3B, 8 BB, 27 K Escobar finished at .300 (33-110), 4 2B, 5 3B, 4 HR, 9 BB, 14 K http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=...=542&y=2010
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Hell, I'd rather Viciedo at DH than Ibanez OR Matsui. I'm not a fan of putting a 22-year old at DH. Either find the guy a position, or trade him.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) For $11.5 million? If the Phillies threw in a few million, sure. That said, I'd rather see Matsui as a DH.
  16. I could live with Ibanez as an 130-game DH.
  17. Seriously...I tolerated that punk for a month. I don't want that guy on my team for a full year. I'm not too worried about it though. I highly doubt the Sox even want to talk to Manny this offseason. He'll probably end up in Toronto, if anywhere.
  18. Mitchell 0-3, 2 more k's. Almost over. Leesman had another bad inning. 11.81 ERA. He and Johnnie Lowe have sucked this AFL. I think both have to be added to the 40-man next week, or be exposed to Rule 5 draft. Don't hold me to that though.
  19. f*** Manny Ramirez. If he's back, I'm out.
  20. Mitchell 12-74 (.161), 25 K's Escobar got hit 5th triple today. They're done on Thursday.
  21. In the grand scheme of things, it's not something to get upset about. But when I hear Boyer spew marketing gobbletygook referring to the Sox as a "brand", I roll my eyes...and he does this in every interview I hear him do. Ok fine Brooks, if you want to talk about them like that in the conference room, that's your business. In public, the White Sox are a major league team, not a product on a shelf in the grocery store. I think this uniform change is an example of the Sox over-thinking things. They have a great home uniform, and a great road uniform. I wish they would wear them more often, and bring out the alternate black once a week.

I think this season is getting better as it goes. They have 5 more episodes to make it really good. It's just too hard to follow up last season with anything to rival it. In my opinion, they have one more season left in them, and they should try to end it with a bang.
  23. Was Beckham's head messed up in the second half when he hit .310? Let's give him another year, and see what he can do.
  24. I don't believe for minute that Beckham is available. You don't give up on that much potential at the salary he's at for the next few years. Now if he has another bad start/good finish season, then I might entertain the idea of trading him next offseason when the Sox may have a better idea of what Eduardo Escobar can do. Right now, it would be a highly risky move no matter who they get back. I'm already nervous about the Daniel Hudson loss. If we're an average team next year with Hudson and Beckham playing at a high level for different teams, it would be an ugly scene. I don't think the Sox will take that risk right now.
  25. Johnnie Lowe has been garbage in the AFL. 15.15 ERA. Sweet.
