  1. I was kind of hoping for a sweep. See how bad things can get. I'm a glutton for punishment. Oh well, plenty of time to lose this thing.
  2. Rumor has it that Mike Stanton has been called up by the Marlins. There are some terrific young players in baseball. I wish the Sox had a few more. Hopefully Dayan Viciedo, Trayce Thompson and Jared Mitchell pan out.
  3. Absolutely, a team would pay dearly for Thornton. He could be a difference maker in the postseason. It doesn't matter that he's not a closer. Again...Yankees have Marte and Logan floating around there. You don't think they'd pay for Thornton to be a 7th/8th inning guy for Rivera?
  4. I would have to be overwhelmed to trade Matt Thornton, but every team would love to have him in their pen in October. It would be very tempting to take on a good prospect. On Buehrle...I don't see any team wanting him this year. He's not doing great, and he would get another year and another million per year if he gets traded. So basically he would have 2.5 years at 38 million if he got traded before his 10/5 kicks in...or even after and he approved a trade. It just doesn't seem likely. On AJ...as long as he starts hitting, I think he'll approve a trade to a contender even after his 10/5 kicks in next week. No rush to move him. On Konerko...I don't think he's going to turn down a 4-month trip to any destination. He's a free agent after this year, and he'll find a team that trains in Arizona then. If the Yankees want to add a bat, I could see him as their DH down the stretch. And the Angels are always a possibility. On Jenks...from what I've read, scouts aren't that down on him. Maybe an NL team like the Phillies or Braves will want to take a chance.
  5. Crain blows a lead for Liriano. No problem. Twins manufacture a run in the 9th, and Rauch nails it down for the 4-3 win.
  6. W-S Box http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kinafa_wswafa_1 B'ham got banged.
  7. Oh great. Brent Morel can't hit AAA pitching. Just wonderful.

  10. Terry Doyle--this year's Hudson? Maybe Birmingham, at least.
  11. I'm sorry, but if Jenks blows it, I'm going to laugh.
  12. Freddy did his job...again. Too bad we've wasted his 7 quality starts.
  13. Hudson gets the win in the rain shortened game. He's 7-2, 4.32 ERA.
  14. Agree about Hynick. He's my new Egbert. Hopefully he'll stay healthy now.
  15. Beckham should be playing. He's not going to come out of his funk sitting on the bench. The team is bad. He's our second baseman. Suck it up, and play him....either here or in Charlotte.
  16. Birmingham...Hynick doing well. CJ is back. That has to suck. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  17. Viciedo 2-3, .293
  18. Charlotte http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...chraaa_pawaaa_1 Birmingham Hynick Winston-Salem http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kinafa_wswafa_1 Leesman Kannapolis http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...capafx_kanafx_1 Hopps
  19. Dave Trembley is on the chopping block.
  20. I've done very little research this year, but I'll go on record that I want Bryce Brentz if he's available. I read yesterday his upside is on level with Ryan Braun. Ok, I'm sold.
  21. Beckham has now been on the White Sox roster for 162 games. His numbers: .248/.328/.392 Games: 150 AB: 548 R: 77 H: 136 2B: 32 3B: 1 HR: 15 RBI: 75 BB: 59 SO: 100
  22. This is what Buehrle has done since retiring 45 straight batters in July of 2009: 23+ starts (He walked Alexi Casilla with 2 out in the 6th on 7/28/09.) 8-16 team record 5-13 his record ERA: 5.00 IP: 140.1 H: 177 R: 85 ER: 78 BB: 35 SO: 56 HR: 16 He's not getting traded, because nobody will want him.
  23. Even if the Sox went to firesale mode, there aren't enough players to trade that would make the Sox worse than Houston, Cleveland, and Kansas City...and probably a few more. If the Sox have the 7th or 8th pick in the draft in 2011, that would be fine with me, if the draft is as deep as people are saying it will be.
  24. It seems like this draft is weak, unpredictable, and not filled with a lot of star potential. Whoever the Sox take, I don't see fans penciling him in to a future roster like we did with Beckham and Mitchell the last two years.
