  1. I'll take a boring manager if he makes the right moves. Mike Scioscia and Ron Gardenhire aren't exactly exciting people, but they can manage circles around Ozzie Guillen.
  2. If Ozzie goes, I don't want anyone from the current coaching staff. I also don't think Coop would be good with the press. He'd be like Piniella, only worse. Mattingly is replacing Torre. That's a done deal. Truthfully, Bob Brenly would be an interesting candidate.
  3. There's a difference between negativity and being realistic. It would be negative to say Peavy is going to lose 15 games and AJ is going to hit .210 this year. It's realistic to say this roster can't match up with Minnesota. It would take a few more major injuries for the Twins not to be a 90-win team. The Sox will not get there.
  4. Ely gave up a 4-spot in the second inning.
  5. I think they're geared toward school field trips. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Man, what's with all these early day games lately? I like it, but it's weird.
  6. I'm no scout, I won't pretend to be. But his motion has always scared me. His arm goes way back, and then he seems to throw across his body. Have real scouts mentioned this and voiced a similar concern?
  7. What's up with Hudson? 1 inning 8 hits 9 runs 9 earned 1 walk 2 k 2 hr 9.37 ERA. I hope his arm is ok.
  8. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wvaafx_kanafx_1 Thompson has struck out, grounded into a double play, and made an error. He's human.
  9. Some short interviews with Kannapolis players, including Thompson. Seems like a humble guy. http://intimidators.podbean.com/
  10. It's pretty insulting to the fans intelligence. We know the players don't give a crap about this, yet they're forced to pretend to in the name of corporate sponsorship. 95% of the fans would probably say this is a dumb idea. So I guess we'll have to put up with this nonsense for three years, and hopefully it'll go away.
  11. Charlotte won. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  12. It's just frightening to think what Thompson's power potential can be. I hope scouts have good things to say about him a year from now. I hope the words "can't miss" are included.
  13. Sorry...meant to say I haven't seen him play during this regular season.
  14. I haven't seen Morel play, but what I have seen, you'll never have to worry about his defense. The guy is stellar over there.
  15. Morel, 3-3, double, triple. Nice.
  16. Just a hunch, but I think Jake Arrieta may be in Baltimore soon.
  17. Charlotte... http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...noraaa_chraaa_1 Winston-Salem... http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wilafa_wswafa_1
  18. Birmingham and Kannapolis rained out. Charlotte in a rain delay. Winston-Salem..eh who cares?
  19. I just think if the fans know going in that hands have to stay away from the field of play, it would prevent a lot of headaches. It seems on plays like that, they interfere more times than not.
  20. Fun win. I have one suggestion for the White Sox--how about just not allowing reaching over the rail under ANY circumstance. Obvious foul ball, slow rollers to the rail...anything. That fan could have meant a loss. Just let the security people down the lines get them and hand them to a kid.
  21. Peavy is going to be on White Sox Weekly sometime in the next couple hours on The Score. I guess he and Coop were working on his arm angle, and they think they've figured something out. We'll see. Also--I don't know anyone else mentioned this...Harold Reynolds noticed that he's flinching after he throws the ball because of the comebackers he's had..once in the rehab start last year, and once in spring training from Torii Hunter. It's causing him not to finish off his pitches. I though it was interesting. Not sure if it's a real thing, but I hadn't heard anyone else point that out.
  22. I don't blame anyone for that. I think there was a lot to be optimistic about going into this season. The fact of the matter is that the Twins are good, and at best, the Sox will be mediocre. Hopefully after they realize it's not going to happen this season, they'll get rid of some old, tired names, and actually start the new decade with some renewed energy. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) i really overestimated this teams ability.
