  1. If you want to throw out the numbers on Jones, fine. But the fact is he's still only 33. He's lost a lot of weight. He looks good in the outfield. And he's hitting the ball to all fields. I'm optimistic he'll be a productive player for the Sox.
  2. Kotsay with a nice play on his doppleganger, Huff.
  3. Melton is beyond confused.
  4. JJ Poots reference...a Bill Melton classic.
  5. Did Melton just call Tony Pena, Carlos Pena? Did I hear that right? Ok, now he got it right.
  6. A little better contact for Teahen. Hard grounder to 2B. Hopefully he'll get a knock today.
  7. De Aza is getting some good cardio today thanks to Floyd.
  8. Floyd starting. On whitesox.com 1. Juan Pierre lf 2. Gordon Beckham 2b 3. A.J. Pierzynski c 4. Paul Konerko dh 5. Mark Kotsay 1b 6. Alex Rios cf 7. Mark Teahen 3b 8. Alexei Ramirez ss 9. Alejandro De Aza rf
  9. Hudson, Lillibridge, and De Aza are the only ones on the 40-man, and they all do have options as far as I know. The rest can be sent down.
  10. Defintely. Barring injury, they're leaving camp with the roster they had in mind at the beginning of spring training. 7 cuts left will be Aquino, Hudson, Leesman, Threets, Lucy, Lillibridge, De Aza.
  11. Roster moves: White Sox Option Tyler Flowers & Carlos Torres to Class AAA; Reassign Ryan Braun, Jordan Danks, Josh Kroeger, Brent Morel & C.J. Retherford 32 left in camp.
  12. Sox sign LHP Joe Torres to a minor league deal. His second time with the Sox org. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=torres010jos
  13. Konerko was over .350 OBP last year. He could again. I think Beckham will, too.
  14. Threets looks like he'll be good insurance at AAA. He may get the call even if a righty gets hurt.
  15. Santos K's vs Aviles and Betemit He hasn't done anything to not make the team. Pretty obvious he's going north.
  16. Jenks is in. I'd like to see outs recorded, not just working on location.
  17. If Beckham plays 155 games, I expect 70 extra base hits.
  18. I'd rather see Peavy get torched today than 16 days from now. Get it out of your system.
  19. If Jones plays 145 games, I think Pierre and Quentin will DH just as much as Andruw.
  20. I think this is right, and it brings up the Kotsay/Jones DH topic. If Andruw Jones is going into opening day with a hot bat, he's got to be an every day player. Kotsay just needs to stay on the bench and start once a week, and replace Paulie when he gets pinch run for. He'll be a lot more valuable in that role. I'm just afraid Guillen will play Kotsay too much.
  21. 10th inning...exciting spring training action. No, but seriously....two more weeks of this s***? Let's tee it up, already!
  22. Rios is nursing the quad injury. No need to push him. As far as Teahen, I know it's spring training, but all I've seen from him is strike outs, double plays, and tapping out on a 3-1 count with bases loaded, no out. He actually looks bad at the plate...not just having bad results. I like Teahen, and think he'll be a good player batting 8th, but they break camp in 11 or 12 days. Let's get it going.
