  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) Rios Nix Damon Konerko Jones AJ Pierre Vizquez Teahan Vizquez and Teahan...quality.
  2. I'm seeing a lot of lineups I approve of. I can't say the same when I see Jones or Kotsay in the lineup. C'mon, Johnny.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) IF it happens, (big if) what is your lineup? Damon DH Beckham 2b Quentin RF Konerko 1b AJ C Rios CF Teahen 3b Ramirez SS Pierre LF Not bad, but there are those 3 righties in a row in the middle....but im ok with that my guess is that ozzie would still have pierre lead off and put damon in the middle of the order to break up the righties My lineup would be: Pierre Damon Beckham Quentin Konerko Pierzynski Rios Teahen Ramirez
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) Thats BS. I cannot even count how many times people put up a "[----] was available and KW didnt even try to sign him!" thread. Damon signing with the Tigers or even the Braves would have annoyed people to no end if KW didnt get involved I think most of the Sox fanbase didn't really even consider Damon a possibility because Scott Boras is his agent.
  5. It's definitely gotten to the point that if it doesn't happen, it'll be disappointing. If they didn't even try, nobody would care that much. Now the pressure is on to close the deal. Hope it happens.
  6. QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Agreed with this. If the Sox sign Damon, they could only realistically carry 11 pitchers on the 25-man roster. Jones is probably the odd man out in that case (I'd keep Kotsay, since he can actually still play defense somewhat). I was thinking about this. I would much rather have Jayson Nix on the bench than Jones. I think you need two infielders on the bench...Vizquel and Nix. Plus Nix can probably run better than Jones, and he can also be put in the outfield in a pinch. So if the Sox do sign Damon, I might hold on to Jones until the end of spring training, but I wouldn't be against just dumping him. And as far as the bullpen, they'll carry seven no matter what. I have no doubt about that.
  7. A few hours ago, I would have said 20%. Now I'm at 60%. Either way, I hope it gets done this week so it doesn't drag on into spring training.
  8. I actually feel pretty optimistic about Damon signing with the Sox. I think his wife is a huge factor in this, and she has no interest in spending 6 months in Detroit. Maybe he'll take four million, win a championship, and be a free agent again in nine months. Come on, Johnny. Do it!

  10. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Can we stop calling Beckham "Bacon" yet? Slayer is a thousand times better. I think they both suck equally.
  11. I'd feel a lot better about the team if they got one more bat. Other than that, I can't wait to see a really good starting pitcher every night, and Gordon Beckham for a full season. And if Rios plays to his career average and Carlos Quentin stays off the DL, this team has a real good chance at the postseason. Then anything can happen in October.
  12. Felipe Lopez fired Scott Boras. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/02/feli...cott-boras.html
  13. Can't wait to hear Gene Honda announce his name one last time. Congratulations, Frank.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I'd start Peavy if he has an average to good spring. Jake seemed like an ornery bulldog during his few starts with us in September. I doubt Mark will mind. It'll be Buehrle. Peavy pretty much has said it should be Mark. I think the rotation should be Buehrle, Peavy, Floyd, Danks, Garcia. It'll set up Danks, Garcia, and Buehrle the first weekend against the Twins. They need to try to get Danks and Buehrle vs the Twins whenever they can.
  15. QUOTE (everafan @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) If the Tiger's offer really is $14M/ 2 yrs the Sox will not touch that. I agree. If that's a real offer, this should be a done deal for the Tigers very soon.
  16. Sox signed RHP Orber Moreno. Which begs the question...who is Orber Moreno?
  17. He can do whatever he wants, but if he quits at 31, takes a year off, and then comes back and pitches for the Cardinals for 4 or 5 years, I'd be a little pissed if he did that. Don't be a Favre. Stop talking about it, but when you do it, stay gone.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) He's too much of a competitor to give it up, plus, I think his wife will convince him to keep going. I just want him to pitch till he get's 300 wins (Sun-Times projected it to be around 2018, so he can't retire for at least 8 more years) 2010-2018. That's nine seasons. He would have to average 18.33 wins a year to get to 300. So the Sun-Times is bat s*** crazy. I'd like it if he stuck around for 200 wins with the Sox, and added another ring or two.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) If the Sox went with a straight 5-man rotation with no one getting skipped, and assuming Buehrle and Peavy are 1 and 2, both would make 33 starts, while Danks, Floyd, and Garcia would get 32, and thus really doesn't mean as much. What I do think you'll see happen this year is Buehrle (and others too) occasionally getting skipped and having Garcia or Hudson starting in their place. I would also skip Garcia in May that week they have off days on Monday and Thursday. If you skip him there, the first half would end on #4. Then you make Freddy #5 after the break, and the season ends on #4 too. If you do that, 1-4 get 33 starts, and 5 (Freddy) gets 30 starts. Of course they'll get rained out once in a while so this will be a moot point.
  20. I can't say I look forward to any team. I just want the Sox to win.
  21. I was in the Peavy camp, but in the long run it really doesn't matter who starts on OD. Buehrle can start, and be set up to face the Twins on Sunday of the first weekend. If all goes well, Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, and Floyd all get 33 starts and the majority of the Twins games will Buehrle, Peavy, and Danks.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) I'm not going to bother looking at the schedule right now, but the other question is how the rotation sets up against teams that you might run into. We might want Buehrle, Peavy, and Floyd facing the Twins but to keep Danks away from them since the MM's have killed him. I wouldn't read too much into that. Danks has had good games against the Twins before, and he may have had that finger circulation problem last year. If I'm Ozzie, I'm always shooting for Buehrle-Peavy-Danks against the Twins. In the second half, that'll set up well.
  23. Buehrle will. They can flip them later on if a matchup calls for it. Like they may want to stack lefties against the Twins. So the first weekend against the Twins could be Danks or Floyd, Garcia, and Buehrle on Sunday.
  24. I know the Sox don't deal with Boras, but it wouldn't hurt just to put in an offer to Damon. 1 year, $5 million, and see if he takes it. If he's going to a place to try to win, he can do a lot worse than the White Sox, especially with the pitching staff pretty loaded this year.
