Can't get too excited over this. There's a quarter of a season left, and the Tigers took 2 out of 3 from the Mariners at home. Stuff happens.
Sox just need to win games and see where they stand with a few weeks left. Then it'll be time to do some hardcore scoreboard watching.

Wed, Sept 2 in Minnesota instead of the 8/28 start in NY then.
I don't think they'd be that cruel.
I think September 4 is the earliest possible first start for Peavy. Hopefully the Sox will still be in it then.

Had a chat with a good friend of Flowers today. Some of the highlights:
*Will 99% be a Sept. callup
* There's a strong chance that he'll be a backup in the bigs next year, with AJ seeing a dramatic reduction in playing time.
*The organization absolutely sees him as the catcher of the future and has no intention of moving him.
*Is a good clubhouse guy.
That's why I think Thome has little chance of returning next year. AJ will DH half the time, and mentor Flowers. It's a smart move.
This situation with draft picks is absolutely out of hand. They need to slot these guys and get them playing--and EARNING the big money. This Strasburg guy is instantly going to be hated. Quite a way to start your professional career.

It's not a sign that he is going to hit in the Majors, it just means you are incorrect to think the guy can't hit AAA pitching.
Or I was clearly making a joke about a guy who has clearly sucked all year, and really don't care what he did two years ago in AAA.
Hopefully the Sox realize that winning the series at this time of the season just isn't good enough. Especially with Detroit taking care of business against KC. They have 45 games to try to get wins, and they better come out tomorrow ready to play.

Absolutely. The young guy needs to be given a chance to prove himself over Freddy
Garcia. I fear, however, that this will not be the case.
Freddy will pitch Tuesday either way. Hudson would be replacing Contreras on Wednesday.
1-2-3 7th inning for Hudson. Still under 100 pitches.

Hudson settling down very nicely after a rough first inning; 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 5 K. 89 pitches so he may be done.
Hudson next Wednesday at the Cell....please.
