  1. I've been on the Hudson bandwagon, but I'm backing off. He's going to get his 27 minor league starts, and that's good enough. See ya in spring training.
  2. Brandon Allen is playing in the AFL too, so Viciedo is a possible call up. I don't think he will, but it is possible.
  3. I'm willing to declare the Sox dead. If Peavy can come back and get a few starts, fine. But they shouldn't bring him back any sooner than he wants. It's not worth it at this point. Just bring Torres back for a few starts and Peavy for a few starts, and Garcia can get his 5-6 starts, and then the season will finally be over.
  4. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....all-league.html I assume Jonnie Long is Johnnie Lowe?
  5. Cowley, like others, said he's going to the bullpen. Peavy will talk to Cooper tomorrow, and if he feels good, he'll start Saturday in New York.
  6. He's going to the pen. I wonder if Peavy will have a change of heart after tonight. He could be starting Saturday.
  7. I really would only give Hudson two starts--Saturday in NY and then the Wrigley game. If he does ok, keep him going. If Garcia does well the next two starts, then I would give him the 5th starter spot after Peavy comes back. I think they'll only need a 5th starter 3 games after Peavy comes back (hopefully Sep. 4-7).
  8. Even if it isn't Hudson, I wonder if they would consider John Ely. He pitched tonight too, so he would be on track for Saturday.
  9. I'd still rather have Hudson pitch Saturday in Yankee Stadium than Contreras. I'll take my chances.
  10. Hudson will start Game 2.
  11. No score after one. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494
  12. Besides Hudson, I think the seasons for Morel and Retherford have been top notch. It should be interesting to see if these two stay with the organization over the next two years.
  13. As long as they stay within 3 games with five series left, they're in it. If they fall out of that range, they're not.
  14. Bears are playing? It's baseball season.
  15. DL guys-Peavy, Wise, Getz. Colon-no. Tyler Flowers Jhonny Nunez Carlos Torres Wes Whisler That's it.
  16. Can't get too excited over this. There's a quarter of a season left, and the Tigers took 2 out of 3 from the Mariners at home. Stuff happens. Sox just need to win games and see where they stand with a few weeks left. Then it'll be time to do some hardcore scoreboard watching.
  17. Pitch count too high for Hudson. 91 pitches through 5 innings. 53 strikes. Still, good results: 1 run 6 hits 2 BB 4 K 1 WP
  18. Hudson is falling behind in the count against everyone in the first inning+.
  19. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) Wed, Sept 2 in Minnesota instead of the 8/28 start in NY then. I don't think they'd be that cruel. I think September 4 is the earliest possible first start for Peavy. Hopefully the Sox will still be in it then.
  20. On the positive side, no walks and 5 k's. He'll be ok.
  21. It will just be break-ins when he's on the mound. This isn't a full game.
  22. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) Had a chat with a good friend of Flowers today. Some of the highlights: *Will 99% be a Sept. callup * There's a strong chance that he'll be a backup in the bigs next year, with AJ seeing a dramatic reduction in playing time. *The organization absolutely sees him as the catcher of the future and has no intention of moving him. *Is a good clubhouse guy. That's why I think Thome has little chance of returning next year. AJ will DH half the time, and mentor Flowers. It's a smart move.
  23. Sox signed Justin Knoedler today and assigned him to Charlotte. Three catchers on that roster now.
