  1. Looks like more rain is about to hit Montgomery, AL. Still a win. Kannapolis won 9-3 http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kanafx_lwdafx_1
  2. What's the story on Justin Edwards? He pitched for Kannapolis in 2007, but was in independent ball in 2008. Today for Kanny: 5 innings, 1 walk, 9 K's
  3. Beckham had a 3-1 count with 1st and 2nd, 2 out. Lee Cruz got picked off first. Ugh.
  4. Charlotte: Van Benschoten gave up four in the 1st inning. 4-3, top 3 Kroeger with a double. He's heating up. Birmingham: John Ely on the hill. Beckham RBI single in the first and a run 2-0, top 2 Winston-Salem: Hudson faces Matusz 7pm EDT Kannapolis leading 6-1, 4th inning. Edwards pitching. Tyler Kuhn 2-2, triple, sb
  5. I'd like to see Beckham, Flowers, Allen, and Viciedo play 140 games together this year, and then maybe a Southern League championship. The Sox aren't going to win diddly squat unless they pitch...and for now, they're not pitching well enough to be a contender. Beckham coming up now won't help the pitching, and quite frankly, he's just not ready to play everyday in the big leagues. I think if he has a great AA season, then you clear a spot for him and he's in the opening day lineup next year.
  6. I'm sorry to see Egbert really falling apart. ERA way up there.
  7. I was going to say...Carlos Torres. His ERA is 0.96. I'd give him a shot. They have room on the 40-man. He's earned a chance.
  8. Poreda, no-hitter thru 5. 5 walks, 8 strikeouts 85 pitches. 46 strikes, 39 balls 3-0 Barons
  9. Poreda--no hits thru 4. 4 walks, 7 K's I doubt he'll go the full 7 innings, with 71 pitches already.
  10. Barons underway in Game 1. Poreda struck out two and walked one, and Flowers threw out the runner. Two out RBI single for Flowers. Two run double for Viciedo. 3-0, top 2
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) What the hell is a Corkaroo? That's what Hawk Harrelson has been calling Corky Miller.
  12. 2 homers for David Cook. How are the Bulls doing? haha
  13. No, that's Gordon Beckham's teammate from Georgia. Beckham got a double. He's good.
  14. Kanny wins 1-0. Pitcher made error that led to the run. Walk, two base error, int walk, strike out, single by Sergio Morales. 35 k's in this game.
  15. Remenowsky pitched the 10th...3 strikeouts!!! 21 k's He has 14 k's in 8 innings this year. No walks. No ERA.
  16. Burdie for Kanny struck out 5 in 2 innings. That means 18 Lake County batter have struck out. And it's still a 0-0 game as far as I know. ...oh and 13 Kanny batters have struck too. 54 outs...31 strikeouts.
  17. Barons 4th: Retherford doubles Price singles Shelby doubles, scoring Retherford pitching change Beckham singles on a nubber past the mound, scoring Price Flowers struck out Allen struck out Viciedo pops out to 2B 6-0, top 5
  18. Hudson is out of the game. No decision. Too bad. 7 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 13 k's
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) Hudson is ridiculous. I am not sure about his stuff, but his peripherals would suggest they are very good, prolly the ceiling of a 2. I heard the announcer say he was hitting 94 on the gun. This guy can't stay in this league all year. That can't happen.
  20. Barons 3rd inning: Beckham hit a liner to LF, guy made a diving catch. Flowers singled. Allen doubled to rf (awesome he can hit lefties and run) Viciedo sac fly (RBI 10), Allen to third Cook homered 4-0 Gartrell k'd
  21. Hudson has 11 k's in 6 innings.
  22. Single for Shelby, double for Beckham in the LF corner. Beck did have a failed bunt attempt, but made up for it. Sac fly for Flowers. Beckham also tagged and got into third. Allen K's. Viciedo grounded out. Kanny: Hudson 5 inn, 1 hit, 1 walk, 9 k's
  23. Here goes Dan Hudson...4 k's in 2 innings. What's up with the Sally League? Is it good pitching or bad hitting? I mean, when Ken Williams Jr is your third best hitter with a .245 average...
  24. Yeah, I would say it would take Mark having a great stretch from ages 30-34. Maybe 90 wins during that time. A couple top 5 Cy's, another championship...in other words...probably not going to happen.
