  1. QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) Personally, after watching him pitch today, I don't think Williams has an edge over anyone. I didn't see Williams today. I know he had a nice run of scoreless innings before today. Poreda got shelled the other day. Not sure what they want to do with him.
  2. Looks like Marquez will be in the Sox bullpen on April 6. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,0,552086.story If Colon and Contreras make it, I think the bullpen is set: Richard, Marquez, Carrasco, Thornton, Linebrink, Dotel, Jenks If Richard replaces Colon, I give Randy Williams an edge over Aaron Poreda for a second lefty in the pen.
  3. 2 more weeks of spring games? I've had enough. I can't imagine what the players go through.
  4. Is Melton a little slow, or something?
  5. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) They mentioned that Colon threw 44 pitches in a B game today. I believe they said 38 were strikes. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....lon-update.html
  6. Second time Stewart had interference called on him this spring.
  7. A different Sergio got traded too...Sergio Santos got traded to the Giants for future considerations.
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) Scott Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald writes that the White Sox need to make a deal for a center fielder who can bat leadoff. He thinks GM Kenny Williams is "probably close" to making a deal. Gregor doesn't like Jim Edmonds or Juan Pierre for the job, but he doesn't rule out Kenny Lofton. Here's the full blog. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1661 I think it's just Gregor blowing smoke. The Kenny Lofton comment...he was joking in the first line, since Lofton and Phillips both used to play for the Sox. Yeah, Kenny might be trying to do something...but isn't he always? But Podsednik? Edmonds? No way. And Pierre? Only if the Dodgers paid like, 80% of his contract.
  9. Maybe Poreda was trying to throw some breaking stuff today, and didn't work. I think he's destined to be a Matt Thornton type.
  10. Russell has been pitiful. He might be getting the piece of paper in his locker soon.
  11. Russell has been awful this spring, and they were really counting on him.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) he won't be there too long though I agree. Unless Getz just has a breakout year.
  13. Beckham struck out swinging. Enjoy Birmingham.
  14. Beckham will bat 3rd next inning. He needs to get back to hitting. Honestly, I see the end for his major league camp coming in the next seven days.
  15. Interesting. You don't usually hear about a low minor for a low minor trade, so maybe there's something brewing (no pun intended). So Miranda said he got traded, and not just released and picked up by Milwaukee?
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) Fudrucker's? Dave and Buster's? Probably a blow up doll.
  17. I think Quentin is due to go deep today.
  18. A hearty boo for AJ from the SF fans...
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) Ozzie already said he's now considering Getz for leadoff. Maybe he should try it one of these days.
  20. Uribe is in the lineup for SF. Scott Reifert's blog says some Sox players have some fun in store for Juan.
  21. I'm beginning to think the reason they don't want to lead off with Getz is because of politics. They know Beckham is the future so they don't want to be put in a bad position when it's time to replace Getz. It'll be easier to replace a 9th place hitter than a leadoff hitter. Just a thought.
  22. It's almost decision time on Owens. I hope he has a weak 0-5 today.
