  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) If Dye leaves, is Griffey coming back? Hell no!
  2. Actually, Beckham is not listed on the Saguaros roster. Should have looked there first. I won't speculate the reason, but it does explain why he hasn't played this week. edit: Ok, I will speculate...probably when Jeff Marquez was added, the Sox had to drop one of their players. Maybe they felt Beckham had enough AB's and it was a good idea to drop him off the roster.
  3. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) Couldn't the Sox just sign Viciedo after the rule 5 draft? Could that be why he hasn't signed yet? I guess so, but the word last week was that Viciedo was going to make a decision soon. Perhaps the delay means he's getting a lot of bids.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) He signed late. Sox allocated him to the AFL late. Other players at his positions were sent first and were given "dibs" of sorts. Unfortunate, but thats the way the AFL works. Nothing is up. Don't look too much into it He never went four games without starting until these last four. Considering they were contending for the division, and he has been on fire of late, it's surprising he was shut down after Saturday.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) For some reason I've been totally unable to reach B-R for the last month or so. Whisler had 27 starts at Charlotte. 12-10, 3.81 ERA 156 innings 45 BB 71 K He'll get picked. I'm surprised he wasn't protected. Sounds like the Sox have some plans with those last three spots on the 40-man. Maybe Viciedo gets a spot. Any day now...
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) What were Whisler's final numbers down in Charlotte again? Clevelan Santeliz would be a surprise I would have thought. www.baseball-reference.com is your friend. I don't think Derek Rodriguez is exposed. He was drafted in 2005. I'm pretty sure this batch had to start in 2004.
  7. Brandon Allen-1B Clevelan Santeliz- P Jon Link-P Jhonny Nunez-P Roster is at 37. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/press...sp&c_id=cws
  8. Beckham played Saturday, and that ended his season with four games left? Something smells.
  9. Mesa won the division with the win. They must not play tie breakers out there. The Sox prospects' season ends tomorrow.
  10. Phillies aren't trading Victorino.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) He isn't considered a starter. He was added too late to the roster. He's started pretty much half of the games. Considering he's killing the ball and they're playing the team they're tied with with two games left, I'm surprised he isn't in the lineup.
  12. Beckham not in the lineup for the third straight game. What's up with that?
  13. QUOTE (TCQ @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) Ouch on the Griffith front but is good to see that he likes Morel he moved pretty fast through the system for just his first year of pro ball and if he could continue his batting for average and add some power maybe as he came up the system id love for him to be an option at 3rd in the years to come. I really like how Morel starting hitting homers at the end of the season. I think Morel and Danks will both be at Winston-Salem.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Not a very auspicious start, but I’m not giving up on the kid until i see what happens after Cooper gets to work on him. We'll see, but I think he's probably on par with Broadway and Egbert. The trade was made because the Sox didn't want Swisher anymore, and Swisher didn't want to be on the Sox either. He had to go, and with little trade value, the Sox didn't get much back. Hopefully Betemit surprises somehow.
  15. Marquez pitched two innings today: 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, 1 strikeout
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) How long does the AFL go for? Is it 6 weeks? The championship game is next Saturday. They started in early October.
  17. Marquez changed teams--Peoria Javelinas to the Peoria Suguaros.
  18. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) During the Swisher trade press conference the only thing KW seemed content with, was having Fields become his starting 3b. He didn't mention anything in regards to 2b, or Cf. Im guessing those are the positions KW will focus hard on next. He seems to also be focusing hard on starting pitching. He mentioned "We need to add more SP depth". Whats next? Nobody knows. Im hoping for one big pre-Turkey Day treat! He could be sincere when he says Fields will be the 3rd baseman next year, but it doesn't mean they aren't trying to sign Viciedo. Viciedo will be 20 next season, so there wouldn't be a rush to bring him up. Maybe Fields and Getz have good, but not great seasons and have some trade value a year from now to make room for Viciedo and Beckham. As far as next moves...CF for sure. I'm liking that Vazquez to St. Louis for Colby Rasmus rumor. Kenny should make that happen.
  19. With 33 players on the 40-man, the Sox have some room to add players next week. Anyone know who in the Sox organization has to be added or be exposed to the Rule 5 draft next month?
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) Beckham 2-5 Thursday night. Batting average up to .403... 4th in the league. He's up by August. Book it.
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Conference call w/ KW is on Sox website. What was with the nose breather? Good lord.
  22. Good stuff. http://aflwhitesox.mlblogs.com/archives/20...our_domain.html
  23. Danks 3-3 today with a stolen base. He and Beckham are 1a and 1b as the Sox top prospects as far as I'm concerned.
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) I just saw read the article and was going to post it in PHT but thought I better check here first. Good news. I wonder what level the Sox will play him. Think AA is too much too soon ? Not at all. I'd be pretty surprised if Beckham didn't start at Birmingham.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Why in the world would we b****? What other way could they have done it with the White Sox getting the home field advantage? Our record against the Twins was worse than the Twins record against us. So that would mean they should have home field. We had the same actual records. I doubt they would do record vs. own division. Basically, the coin flip was the only chance the Sox had at getting that game at home. Win or lose, you'll take it cause you have a 50/50 shot. If you don't, you'll have no chance. What would you take? 50% chance or 0% chance? Your post is a little confusing to me. I'm just saying if the Sox would have beaten the Twins 10-8 head-to-head, and the Twins won the coin flip, Sox fans would have been pissed.
