I’d say keep giving him opportunities but have a real conversation about what he can and cannot do out there. He needs to know his limitations and stay in his lane. In the long run, his shortcomings in LF will be made up for it if he can play Batters Box 150+ games every year. Hopefully the news will be good later today.
Agreed. I’m surprised they’re seemingly going to roll with Robert at 2 to begin with after his September struggles. I would have thought he’d be at 6 or 7 to start, but the talent is awesome, so we shall see. No law against changing things as the season progresses.
I’ll give Lopez credit for being pretty durable and he actually had a 2018 season we can only pray Cease could match this season. Hopefully he gets his act together and maybe another team will want him.
...and Grandal not catching much. I’m thinking the last spot is Collins vs Mendick. Hamilton can stick around until Engel is ready.
cuts to come- Collins, Mercedes, Burr, Turley, Remillard, Reynolds, Beckham, Williams. Fry and Engel go to IL.
Well, some things have changed since Tuesday. Engel won’t be on the opening day roster. Lopez is probably going to get optioned. Jose Ruiz has a better chance of making the roster now. If they have to make room for Vaughn, Hamilton, and Lucroy, they’ll probably try to outright Turley and Zavala.
Rooting for Mendick over Collins. Unfortunately the AAA season doesn’t get guys playing for real in May, but I’d like to see Collins get regular at bats somewhere instead of mostly sitting.
Ok, forgot about the 13 pitcher limit. Add Mendick. Drop Collins. Deal with Cordero on April 4. I’m sure there will be a lot of phantom pitcher injuries this season in all of baseball.
