  1. The united center partnership is swimming in money. And investors remember how much money they made bankrolling the initial Contruction 30 years ago.
  2. it would be in the best interest to renew as is if you're the sox. low rent, state covers most of the maintenance, sox get reimbursed when they pay for stuff, renovations and additions are built in to the contract, ect. i've advocated they push to extend the lease, and use naming rights money to fund the next wave of improvements. the GR deal ends in 2029/2030 and pays about 2.3 million a year. the marlins get 10 million a year from loan depot. i think a 15 year deal at $10 million a year coupled with a 15 year lease extension is very doable.
  3. the oriole park thing is a myth. the sox COULDN'T build a stadium below grade(street level). the city of Chicago refused to add infrastructure costs to their budget. and the state already slashed the budget earlier. the sox were told to build at street level, which is why the upper deck seems higher. the united center was private property and a smaller footprint. and they were building on mostly parking lots. that's why the UC seating bowl goes below grade.
  4. The Monday night dbacks game had to be moved to a Thursday due to a hurricane impacting NYY/AZ series in New York. Sox made it $1 tickets and free parking as an impromptu fan appreciation day. my season tix in the uppers became free seats in the premium lower level and I got an account credit for the original game.
  5. it's based off Nielsen ratings. So you'd have to see how those metric are measured.
  6. People forget that Daley's plan was to get corporate interests to fund the Olympics. G-ROD already said he wasn't paying for the olympics, and the feds rarely give money. US Olympic bids are financed locally. And the IOC did NOT like a corporate financed Chicago 2016, never mind the olympics is a giant ad for coke. That, coupled with the fallout of the Salt Lake City bribery fiasco, meant chicago never had a chance. Even with Richie calling a favor from Obama, who was a rock star to European leaders at the time. The long-term future of the Olympic sites was the corporate interests controlling most of the facilities, and favorable deals for land to develop nearby. While the washington park stadium was to be dismantled after the games, the park and the area around it was going to be "cleaned up" and be ready for gentrification. Even now, that plan is happening, just with the Obama Museum and the eventual tiger woods golf course nearby.
  7. everyone releases unsold inventory from Seasons and groups 1-2 weeks before the homestand. brewers did the same, but also offered $6 tickets in crappy locations.
  8. The same number of people get drunk on 10.75 Miller lites
  9. Tailgating at Guaranteed Rate Field | Chicago White Sox (mlb.com) i'm not so sure about that. at least the tables
  10. Wasnt this supposed to be a DIGITAL billboard on the dan ryan?
  11. 20 years ago my brother was FURIOUS that they raised the price of beer from $4 to $4.50. And then it went from $4.50 to $5 in 2004. now it’s a “deal” to have a $12 miller lite for $5.
  12. i like the idea, but mlb seems to want only 2-3 games like this a season.
  13. of stuff that has NOTHING to do with a sox team that is not affected by bally sports. so shut up
  14. then it sounds like you won big. i'm still paying for joe ricketts' tv station.
  15. lolz. thanks for the massive pile of typed crap. it made me laugh.
  16. he also did a prerecorded version of that at the park. usually followed by gene honda saying" listen to the postgame on espn radio 1000"
  17. that's a lie from manfred. they could have fixed it years ago. they enjoyed making money off the extra innings and mlb.tv packages, as well as making the national packages worth more due to blackout restrictions.
  18. that likely helped the park last as long as it did.
  19. The bulls and blackhawks 2pm replay ratings must be through the roof to bump potential live sox games.
  20. harold baines had his number retired 2 weeks after he was traded in the middle of a rebuild. and played 12 more years in the league. lay off the crack. my comment was about an anti union owner. not whatever your brain drooping was.
