  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Be careful...if the government shuts down on the 4th...those refunds could get delayed a lot. really? I hadnt heard about that. I submitted it 10 days ago and the state return came today, so I'm thinking Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
  3. Federal Tax return is due next week. New hot tub is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday afternoon. I love this country.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) They need at least 4 points out of these next three games. Ideally nothing goes to OT. Three point games will kill this team. Exactly. 4 points for the Hawks, and only two for the opponents. A couple of OT wins won't help all that much. Big win last night. Crawford is playing well and good to see Hossa making plays.
  5. Mayo to Pacers deal fell through, Grizzlies pulled out at the last minute. (More NBA players should learn that move)
  6. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) If Wainwright becomes a free agent after this season, does anyone else think it would be a great idea for a major league team to sign him to an incentive-laden contract for 3 years for the '12, '13, and '14 seasons? The Cards have a $9mil option for 2012 and a $12mil option for 2013. I know that recovery is no guarantee, but with the recent succes of so many TJ pitchers, I think STL definitely picks up both options. He should be ready for early 2012, and I'm sure he'll have some early issues, he should still be decent and worth close to $9mil. If all goes well, he is back to his normal self in 2013 and $12mil is not a bad deal at all. Of course if he has major setbacks in 2012, then you decline the 2013 option.
  7. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) I don't think anybody will be trading for Wainwright for some time. LOL. Oops, that's not what I meant. Carpenter & Co. was what I was trying to refer to, selling away the healthy pieces.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) Yes. And I think at this point, selling, selling, selling, is the way to convince him to not employ his 10/5 rights and veto a trade. He won't want to play for a team at the bottom of the division. Right now, the Cardinals are probably a team that is just over .500 if nothing else goes wrong. They have the best player in baseball, but they're running on scraps for a lot of positions. They could have ridden "2 of the best starters in the NL and Albert" to a shot at the division. What they have now is worse than what they had last year, and last year they weren't close. If you look at it that way, then I see your perspective. I just think that they still want to re-sign him and still have a chance to in the off-season. Trading away Wainwright would give him even more of a reason to leave. (as would trading Albert away obviously)
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) The winner of that division won't touch 90 wins. I think 84 gets it done. I'll split the difference with you and give you 87 wins & under. I'd be truly surprised if no team won 90.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Perkins to OKC for Jeff Green. & Nenad Krstic
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) I don't think they'll do it, but I'm totally serious when I say that the right response to this for the Cards is to sell, sell, sell. If they sell, sell, sell, wouldn't that push Pujols farther away? I still think they have a chance to sign him.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) Wasn't there also some link to PEDs between Prior and his pitching coach or trainer in the offseason? I'm not sure about that, but there have definitely been several other USC players linked to the stuff.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) Yet the Cubs draw great crowds year after year. How are they any different than KC or Baltimore? There is even another team in the Cubs' market that does field a challenger almost every year. I understand the whole WS drought thing, but the Cubs have made the playoffs 3 teams in the past 10 years, which is more than the other team in their market. They occasionally have real s***ty years but over the the past decade, they have spent the money and competed, nothing like KC/Baltimore.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) This looks like the wave of the future instead of unloading for free agency, you will load up on picks. And hope those picks win you a title in their first few seasons before they move on to greener pastures like LA, NY, MIA, CHI, etc.
  15. Devils are 16-1-2 in their past 19 games. And are still 9 points back of a playoff spot in the East.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) That's cause Lilly had a horse shoe up his ass and pitched at Wrigley with the wind blowing in seemingly every game. When he did pitch with wind blowing out there, it was bombs away. I looked up his Cubs stats, and I guess I was a bit wrong. He didn't fare that well at Wrigley overall. Except for 2009, when he had 10 horse shoes up his ass. 2007 Home: 3.87 ERA, 123.1 IP, 19 HRs 2007 Road: 3.76 ERA, 83.2 IP, 9 HRs 2008 Home: 4.50 ERA, 90.0 IP, 15 HRs 2008 Road: 3.77 ERA, 114.2 IP, 17 HRs 2009 Home: 1.87 ERA, 91.1 IP, 8 HRs 2009 Road: 4.41 ERA, 85.2 IP, 14 HRs 2010 at Wrigley: 4.28 ERA, 67.1 IP, 14 HRs 2010 Road: 3.89 ERA, 83.1 IP, 12 HRs
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 05:13 PM) Damn, even I'm getting sick of their system and everybody knows how much I drool over premium/young talent. But we get it now. Baseball America, MLB.com, Baseball Prospectus, Fangraphs, Keith Law, ect. Greatest system that's ever lived. Now shut the f*** up. Not you, Play. I agree. There might not be a point in playing the 2014/2015 seasons. Their farm system is so stacked, they will be virtual locks to win the WS by then.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) Nothing says much improved like a .196 batting average from your 1B and a pitcher with extreme fly-ball tendacies and HR rates in which you can bunt the ball out of the park when the wind is blowing out. I'd be shocked if Garza didn't sport an ERA of at least 4.50. Everybody thinks there's automatically this dramatic drop with a switch from the AL to the NL. But Garza was aided by one, a tremendous Tampa defense, and a ballpark that suppresses offense. Should be fun to watch. Everyone said the same thing about Ted Lilly and he managed to do alright.
  19. Today & tommorrow, some single game Cubs tix are available for a 20% markup (15% if you use MC), before they go on sale Friday. Pretty smart business move if you ask me.
  20. Wow! I didn't see that one coming. Do the Jazz re-hire Jerry Sloan now?
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) Wooooooo! Congrats to CalTech, but I do feel bad for the Occidental kids. How would you like to be the team that lost to CalTech for the first time in 310 conference games?!?!
  22. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 08:48 AM) Word on the street is Adam Wainwright is injured and they are saying Tommy John... per Buster Olney. Wow. What a week for Cardinals fans. Time to change my NL Cy Young award pick. The Cardinals always seem to figure something out, but that's gonna make it much harder to compete.
