Illini starters vs. OSU tonight: Tisdale, Davis, Richmond, Paul, Head. Yes, that's Crandall Head, not Luther. Now I have to watch the start of the game. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) This is the time to go on a streak. We need points badly. Especially with the next 4 games vs. teams right above you in the standings. Win these 4, then you can lose a game or two on the Eastern Conf trip after that. -
Thanks for 05 Joe!

QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) So glad ESPN put Kansas on Big Monday again. Instead of the trying to match the quality of Big East games you get every week, most of the time it's Kansas beating up on some mediocre team in Lawrence. At least show them on the road so there's a chance it's competitive. Yeesh. Like last Monday? -

Dave Duerson found dead at home in Miami, age 50. -
QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) Confirmation the Jays think Bautista is as legit as I do. I wouldn't have gone five years though. But other than the hernia, he has been injury free. He will be worth that contract. If he hits like he did when he turned 29. If he hits the way he did from ages 23-28, it might be the worst contract in baseball.

Gonna be in East Lansing Saturday night for the Illinois/MSU "showdown". When the trip was planned in fall, neither me nor ESPN Gameday figured BOTH teams would be unranked and hovering at .500 in the B10. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) Mets don't expect Johan Santana back until just before the AS Break. Wow. I didn't realize his injury was that bad. Everything that can go wrong for the Mets has gone wrong. It sounds like they are still in a deep financial mess with the whole Madoff situation as well.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen

Glad to hear that. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) Lots of baseball players get DUI's, they don't get suspended. Liriano had one a couple years ago. Tony LaRussa had one and then had a player die driving drunk. I think the Union would win any challenge to a suspension for that. I agree. They only way this causes him to miss time is if he needs to spend time in rehab during the season, either by his choice or mandated by los Tigres.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Yeah, that's how it went down. Still seems kinda crappy that they couldn't confirm the call in the first place, but the call was right. The bizarre part is that even Nebraska thought it was a 3. Maybe they didn't? Maybe they were just acting like it was a 3 to throw Oklahoma off? -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Jays and Bautista near 5 year 65m extension, they postponed their arb hearing trying to finalize it per Heyman Didn't they learn their lesson with Wells? I know this nowhere near as much money, but no thanks to that deal. Maybe they are assuming the Angels will trade for him in 2013.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) He looks alarmingly happy in his mugshot too Was this his first time getting drinking since 2009 and he just got belligerently drunk? I was thinking the same thing, it didn't look like a mugshot, it looked a pic from a family party. For his sake, I hope it was a one time lapse, but I wouldn't bet my money on it. He's gonna need some AA or rehab.

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
LittleHurt05 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
I'd be really surprised if the Cards did only offer him around $20 mil a year, its kind of a low blow, almost better to not offer anything. Especially when Holliday makes $17 million. If that deal was for a full 10 years, it might make a little more sense, as A-Rod is the only player to ever be given over $200 million in guaranteed money (twice). I have been texting Cardinals fan friends today, pretty entertaining to get some reactions from them. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) This is a huge god damn game. It's time for Hossa to rise from his slumber (if he plays) as well. Hossa's gonna skate with Bolland & Frolik tonight, hope that gets them going. Kane has the flu bug that has been going around the locker room, missed the last two practices. edit: Kane practicing today, should be good to go -
