  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Any Super Bowl records broken yesterday? Most fans denied a seat despite having a valid ticket
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) The Bears will cut Chester Taylor this offseason, a source tells CSNChicago.com. I've been a big fan of Taylor and thought it was a good signing, but man was he awful. Forte had 4.5 yds/carry, Taylor just 2.4. Enough said.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 07:21 AM) This goes without saying but the total douchey Jersey Shore looking dudes that are there for 5 hours per day, everyday. GTL Everyday!!!!
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) People who say you should get over month long muscle strains by working out more. That's some backward logic. The Top 40 music playing everywhere. Who the f*** wants to workout to Justin Bieber and Katy Perry? Or Coldplay. That s*** makes me want to kill myself, not work out.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) At least they are trying, unlike the Pirates, Indians, Royals, Astros, Marlins, Nats, etc. I get what you are saying, but only the Yankees have more WS wins than the Marlins in the last 20 years. And the Indians controlled the AL Central for a pretty long time. The Astros GM tries every year, that's part of the reason they are in such bad shape.

    i am drunk

drinky since 930 in the morn to prep for another Illini loss, now just drinking old wine for no reason....cant wait for Big Donkey
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) With all the Fire Weber talk on here, are we putting to bed the notion that he is a great in game coach? Not really. Calling for a turnover in the last minute when you are down a bucket takes real coaching skill.
  8. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) The awkward handshake between Luke Scott and Obama after a hypothetical World Series win would be hilarious. "Congrats on winning the World Series young man. " "Thank you, Sir. Now can I please see your actual birth certificate before I call you Mr. President?"
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) I'd have to google or check Cots. And do we have any specifics on what Danks has been offered outside of that pathetic initial lowball? All I can find on google is the original 4 year, $15.5M deal that Gavin got. I assume they have offered him something else recently, but I don't know. If they lose him cause him & his agent want more money, thats fine. But they better at least offer him a market value deal, like the ones offered to Lester/Gallardo, etc.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) He's obviously not going anywhere this year. Next year is when it gets interesting. I guess the point is this isn't even a conversation if Danks is already locked up. Just like the Tigers locked up Verlander. Just like the Marlins locked up Johnson and Nolasco. Just like the Brewers locked up Gallardo. Just like the Mariners locked up Felix. Just like the A's locked up Anderson. And in your perfect scenario, I'm supposed to believe that if they're too cheap to pony up the cash for one of the few elite talents we've had in the last decade that they would use whatever money they had to legitimately fill the massive void Danks' departure would create? Not likely. I think what KW and Co. Thought was that because Gavin chose the security that Danks would. Well they were wrong. How did the Sox offer to Danks compare to what Johnson/Verlander/Gallardo and crew got? I dont expect them to offer him a nine digit contract that free agency will get him, but if they offered him something similar to the comparables, then you cant be too upset, it will be on him. If they didn't, then it kind of sucks, I'm not aware of what their actual offer was.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) Wasn't that what Freeney was recovering from last year? He didn't dominate the game but he was certainly a factor. I would think its much easier to cause a pass rush on a bad ankle than defend one, but I may be wrong.
  12. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) Addition by subtraction by getting rid of Wells, adding Rajai Davis, a full season of Yunel Escobar, and J.P. Arencibia (if he lives up to potential), a much improved bullpen and a bounceback year from Aaron Hill could mean a pretty solid team with the likes of Ricky Romero, Brandon Morrow, and Brett Cecil holding down the top of the rotation. I think they made some nice moves under the radar. It's a lot of "ifs" but so are the Orioles, Rays and Yankees. They also got rid of Shawn Marcum, and Morrow has never been able to handle a full season. They made some great moves, but its not like they are suddenly one of the elite. I mean, their ace is Ricky Romero, that won't cut it in the AL East.
  13. I think there is no chance the wild card comes from the West. The Rangers only won 90 games last year, and there is no reason to think they will wiun more. Its down to the Rays/Yankees/Jays(doubtful) & maybe the Sox/Twins/Tigers. I like what the A's did too, but no way the West winner has more than 90 wins, and that wont win the wild card.
  14. As a drunken Illini fan, wearing my free purple NU giveaway T-shirt from the game today, I finally will jump on the bandwagon and say, Fire Weber. Do I know who they should hire?? No. But there is obviously something missing with him there, too much talent & inability to close out games, that something needs to change.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) I think he considers anyone who questions Kevin Love as a top 10 player (me, and I'm right) to be a hater. I'm with you on this. The guy is good and all, but his team is on pace to win less than 20 games this year. That's not a top 10 player, I don't care how bad your supporting cast is.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) Iverson was no where near as strong as Rose. AI refused to practice half of the time, let alone work out. Dude was a rat-ass skinny SOB. He was tough as nails, but he didn't take care of himself off of the game floor.

    Coffee Talk

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 08:08 AM) We woke up to frozen water pipes. I made that one last flush count. Thankfully I have a Kuerig coffee maker with enough water for four or five mugs. I don't drink coffee, only tea, but the Keurig machines are pure awesomeness!
  18. We shut down the shop on Wednesday and told guys not to come in, then it was back to work on Thursday.
  19. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) I have a friend who is still in the A's marketing organization and apparently JD loved to take strippers to Hawaii with him, would take them golfing/have them caddy for him, have them strip down and lie down on the green next to the hole and give him something to aim at.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 12:41 AM) I thought he was offered like 3M+ by the Cubs or something, but he said no. link
  21. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 07:50 AM) SI article, The White Sox have spent less money on DL players than any other team over that past 9 years. Good piece. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writ...eball-injuries/ The trade for Jake Peavy may drop us from the top spot super quick.
  22. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 05:37 AM) There is a lot of bad blood between Ott and Campbell from a couple years back so its no surprise that they danced right off the bat. Ott is a major turd anyways. Last time these teams played in Boston they racked up 140+ penalty minutes, so there is definitely a healthy dislike despite the fact they don't play terribly often. I didn't think about the fact that they don't play that often makes it the one chance they get to fight. If Ott & Campbell wanna duke it out at the start, thats fine, but I just think 3 different lines going at it to start the game is a bit excessive, but whatever.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) best first 4 seconds in a long time This is gonna make me sound like Dan Bernstein, but I think that start of the game is just stupid. These are two teams that play each other like once a year, and can only face each other in the Stanley Cup Finals, so they are not huge rivals. It's one thing to fight to get your team pumped up or for payback, but three fights to start the game is a waste of time IMO, not to forget Burish's fight five minutes in.
  24. Turco starting again tommorrow vs. the best team in the NHL
