  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 10:29 AM) He didnt carry his team past the Bears whatsoever, their defense did. And that damn punter. He was unbelievable in both of the last two games vs. the Bears.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 04:43 AM) After watching Carlwell in high school it was kind of sad seeing him plop up and down the court last night. What a waste. He never really did show much at Illinois before the accident, but I guess big guys do take more time to develop. I guess its nice that he still managed to stick with a D-1 school thats having a real successful year, even if hes not a mjor contributor.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) If you can read what I posted, Drew Bledsoe, who prior to that season signed a $100 million contract, and who lost his job to Brady because of injury was the back. up. If the back up was someone of Todd Collins' ilk, the situations would have been similar, and it would have been interesting to see what Brady would have done. Are you even sure it was Brady's call whether to play or not? People have sat with less an injury than Cutler had, and people have played with worse. Are you sure it was Cutler's call whether to play or not? Either way, I don't think a starting QB looks at his backup to decide whether or not he stays in the conference championship game. Thats up to what his body says or what the coaches say, not who his backup is.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) On Dec. 11, 1983, Mike Singletary lost the tip of the middle finger on his left hand, had it stitched back on and demanded to return to Chicago's game at Minnesota. Adding to the legend, a half-crazed Singletary returned with a wrapped-up hand and began screaming at Vikings OL Dave Huffman, telling him the Vikings wouldn't score. Minnesota didn't score. The Bears won, 19-13. Good one. In early May 2010, Mark Kotsay suddenly came down with an awful tummy ache minutes before opening pitch, but managed to fight through it and play a defensively flawless game as the designated hitter for the Chicago White Sox.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) I do not watch Jersey Shore. And since you do, know that your IQ is dropping precipitously by the week. Thats OK. All the Jay Cutler discussions the last few days have been raising my IQ by much higher levels.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) So are we going to just go back and forth citing examples of which players left important games with injuries and which one continued to play through them? Sure, who is next on your list?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) The Patriots were winning when Brady left and had Drew Bledsoe as the back up. The Bears were down 14 and had Todd Collins coming in. Gigantic difference. Basically, unless something really crazy happened, when Cutler was done, so were the Bears. Guys play hurt all the time. Some guys can block it out enough to perform, some guys can't. It was 7-3 Patriots in the first half. The game was up for grabs. According to you, Brady isn't able to block out an injury enough to play, OK then.
  8. Hines Ward, one of the toughest players in the league, left the 2009 AFC championship game with an MCL sprain and didnt return.
  9. Jersey Shore to film season 4 in Italy. Besides the fact that they aren't all full Italians, should be an entertaining train wreck.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Doesn't hurt that the Patriots won that game. And Brady was still a relative unknown at that point. You pro-Cutler guys are throwing out guys like Benson and Brady and looking at it strictly through a vacuum. He was the starting QB on a team playing for a spot in the Super Bowl. I don't see what the difference is.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Cutler has not crucified anyone on the offense though. Not in his post game speaches. He's actually been tremendous at not throwing his teammates under the bus (with the exception of his antics and emotions during the game). Of course he hasn't, I was referring to the media & public.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Another thought I had is that Cutler knows what play he got injured on, as do the Bears, but they don't want to state what play it was so as not to get the offensive lineman crucified in Chicago for that particular play. Unless it was Olin Kreutz getting beat, I think the linemen have been crucified enough this year, that one play wouldnt change anything.
  13. Ken_Rosenthal Source: #BlueJays set to trade Napoli to #Rangers for F. Francisco. No Guerrero to Texas. Napoli ABs at C, 1B, DH. #MLB
  14. Jason Whitlock is trying to take the meatball side vs. B & B....
  15. Why doesn't there seem to be any Tea Party candidates running?
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Seriously? I honestly don't care what anyone calls my wife, or myself...I'd not hit them for such a stupid reason. This is what neanderthals with peanut sized brains do. Not only is an anger reaction not worth it for someone being obnoxious and stupid, but a complete waste of energy. Why would you waste your time on a person like that? You punch them...and get sued and/or go to jail...I missed where this was smart. QFT
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) He told Lovie to use the washed up, never-really-that-great veteran instead of the young prospect! Todd Collins = Mark Kotsay?
  18. I'm sick of the Steelers winning all the damn time and the Packers still suck. Guess I'm rooting for Mendenhall to earn a SB ring, instead of just winning one on IR. Go Steelers.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) No, because he didn't. Never saw him on the sidelines talking to either backup, never saw him reviewing pictures with them, or micing himself up and wearing a headset to assist like every other #1 QB that goes down does. I also don't care and at this point I'm just stirring the pot. Were you at the game watching him on the sidelines the entire time? I heard reporters on the sideline report this morning that they saw him working with Hanie on several occasions.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) I'm sure Lovie only told him he was getting pulled based off of the response Cutler was giving him. I have no doubt the Bears trainer made the final call, but it baffles me that Cutler couldn't play through this. As I said yesterday, Cutler's best chance of saving his name in Chicago was if something actually was torn. Or maybe Lovie thought that the injury was keeping Cutler from playing up to his full abilities and thought a healthy QB might do a better job? (I don't consider Collins a QB though) "We just didn't think he could do the job, it's not like he was trying to get out of it" Lovie said on Cutler.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) Well Jay, I take it back. If it's an MCL Sprain, you pussied out of this game. If Lovie told him he was getting pulled, how is that pussing out of the game???
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) It's so hard to deal with lovie. On one hand, some CRAZY stupid things done yesterday. on the other...he took a team with so many holes almost to the superbowl. And we held the most potent offense in the playoffs to 14 pts. How do you manage the two? He's both a really good coach and a bonehead. Well said. The guy won a division title with Kyle Orton, then won it again with Rex Grossman and went to the Super Bowl. During the same playoff run, he almost cost his team the season with an awful TO vs. Seattle. After a couple medicore seasons, he takes this team with no offensive line a few plays to the Super Bowl. That was with Todd Collins & Caleb Hanie playing the 2nd half of the playoff game. He does make a lot of questionable decisions, but overall his record in Chicago is pretty good. I think if he had a more outgoing personality, Bears fans might like him more, but he still doesnt seem very popular. I think they should extend him, a change of leadership isnt what this team needs. More talent on the offensive side of the ball is whats missing.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) I feel like residency requirements are kind of antiquated and stupid. Whys that? Should someone from Texas be able to run for Chicago mayor? Should a Canadian be allowed to run for U.S. Congress. I think you want a run & represent a town, you should be there and a part of the town.
  24. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Just heard someone say that Cutler had a sprained vagina/torn uterus. Thats so pure. Some chick was yelling that on the train ride home last night. Classy.
