  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) It also makes you wonder if it is the goaltender, or the system, when it comes to Coach Q. See Huet, Cristobal as well. Maybe its the system, as long as you are under the age of 33?
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) I think Balta hates that soundboard the way I hate Juan Pierre. I think Steve loves that soundboard the way you love Carlos Gonzalez.
  4. Ho-hum, another day, another shutout for Corey Crawford. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) Mason Raymonds SO goal last night was pure awesomeness. Sweet move, I hadn't caught that one.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) Get the heck out of my neighborhood with this crap. You must be super bummed that it got cancelled!!!
  6. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) "I have the ultimate respect for White Sox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Red Sox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country." - Jim Caple from his latest article updating the team misery indexes. Heading down there this weekend to see the Hawks play the Predators. Any good recommendations of sports bars to watch the Bears game on Sunday? Staying downtown at the Sheraton.
  8. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) The Bears didn't have Briggs the first time they played the Seahawks. They also don't play til Sunday. So if the Packers win on Saturday - I gotta imagine they'd be really pumped up knowing that if they beat the Seahawks they will host the packers at home with the winner going to the superbowl. Do you really think that matters?? If the Bears have to play in Atlanta with the winner going to the Super Bowl, instead of Chicago, you think they won't be as pumped up? And wouldn't Seattle be just as pumped up to play the NFC Champ. game in front of their home crowd, which just carried them to two straight playoff wins?
  9. Olney reporting Kyle Farnsworth to the Rays. one-year, $3.25 million with an option, could be worth 2 yrs., $6 mil
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) People are way to concerned about the Packers running game. It's not 1976. You don't need to run the ball. If the Packers picked up 75 yards rushing on Saturday I would be happy. Of course they don't have to run the ball to win, they have proven that. But if teams have to worry about the running game as well, that makes Aaron Rodgers that much more dangerous.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) Since they spent so long on the same staff, I think a lot of people would vote for the pair together. That could be true.I could also see many voters think that putting Glavine on the same first ballot as Maddux would somehow diminish Maddux's legacy and sort of bad name how truly good he was. (Remember these are HOF voters we are talking about. Some of them didn't vote for Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, or Tony Gwynn just to prove a point of who knows what.)
  12. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 12, 2011 -> 08:17 AM) They rushed the court after beating Illinois? Really? And for the 3rd time in the last 4 games in State College
  13. Will Talor Battle just f***ing graduate already??? He's been doing that to Illinois the last 4 years. That being said, Illinois straight up blew that game with all the awful turnovers and sloppy play.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Should the Philadelphia Phillies trade Joe Blanton and Raul Ibanez to the Chicago White Sox for Carlos Quentin? This is a topic for the MLB Networks Hot Stove program. My big thing is that I have no idea how the Sox could take on that much money, and what we would do with another starter. The answer to the question is absolutely they should. Unfortunately for Philly, it takes two to tango and there is no reason for the Sox to even think about that trade.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) I don't think so with the Rays. I mean that's the way small market teams have to operate. To invest heavily into scouting and the draft. No team signs every pick. But I imagine their FO knew well before last season that they were going to lose most or all of their key free agents. They have no problem spending on the draft because that's the only way they can be competitive. And I for one still think despite the key losses that the Rays will remain competitive in 2011. I agree that they will be competitive next year with all that talent. The problem is that they are stuck in the Evil Empire division, so simply competing doesnt get you very far. All the best scouting in the world can only get you so far, if you can't raise the payroll and keep all the talent. If only the fans in Tampa gave a s*** about them, they really could have something going down there, even better than what they are now.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) Not really as there is no guaranty that Starks wouldnt have been on the practice squad and claimed by another team. Starks wouldn't have taken Garrett Wolfe's special teams job anyway, so a roster spot may have been tough to find.
  17. No big surprise, but Illini lose LeShoure, Tez & Liuget to the pros.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) Every time he came into the game for the Cubs I knew something bad was going to happen. I would rather have the ghost of Neal Cotts's arm than Will Ohman. True, thats all I remember about his days with the Cubs too, and I remember all Cubs fans f***ing hated him. I hope he does well, but I won't be expecting the best.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) I know. I'm just saying that's pretty crazy. Totally. Couldn't that kind of be a bad thing though? I realize that the more talent in the system, the better. But I assume their drafting budget isn't astronomical, and if you have that many high draft picks to sign, you might have to offer certain ones less than they are looking for, which could keep them from wanting to sign with you? I'm no expert on MLB drafting, but that thought just popped in my head, I don't know if its true or not.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) I still can't believe they're looking at 11 draft picks before the third round this year, assuming they don't re-sign Balfour. That's not gonna do them any good this year or until like 2013 at the earliest probably. And that's if the picks work out too.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) How does Kane make the team? Name recognition to create buzz and attempt to get more people to watch?
  22. Tigers sign Brad Penny, reportedly $3mil base, with $3mil incentives. Not a bad guy to have as your #4/5 starter.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) I feel like we were robbed for some reason. This game was boring in the second half and could have turned into something great in OT. I hear ya on that. There was game-ending field goal to win it but still felt anti-climactic overall.
