  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) I find it funny that the Juan Pierre trade is not brought as the cubs got throughly hosed in that deal. Phil Rogers mentioned that in his front page column today, but yeah, they gave up Ricky Nolasco to have Juan Pierre for one year during which they went 66-96 and finished behind the Pirates.
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) No, not really. No one wants to play a team like this. No one gave them a chance the past 2 weeks and here they still stand. Whoever plays Seattle next week better take them out by the half or watch out. I get what you are saying but they are such a different team away from Qwest Field. Both of these games have been at home, I've been there and it's definitely a huge advantage. I'm not saying they can't win again, but they don't really scare me on the road.
  3. Hasselbeck was the MVP of this game, but Roman Harper was easily a close 2nd.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) But hahahaha@ the Saints. Good for Seattle. I wouldnt want to play them right now in Seattle. Fixed
  5. Awful onside kick. I always thought the Sea Chickens had a chance to win this game, but never did I think they would give up 36 points and win.
  6. Wow. Way to tackle New Orleans. Nice run by Lynch though.
  7. I know that nobody cares but I'm pretty glad that I picked the Saints defense in two different fantasy leagues.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 05:14 AM) Saw that the Reds just signed Edgar Renteria. The question is simple: why? Dude is awful. He's been exactly a replacement level player for a while now. I know the Reds couldn't have been dumb enough to be fooled by his World Series performance? It's only 1 year and 3 million. But still. You probably get better production from Paul Janish for less than $500 K. Just a really stupid move for a front office that had been on a roll of late. I'm not saying this is a crippling move or anything. Just doesn't make any sense. The problem with the move is Dusty Baker. He loves to play his veterans day in and day out, as we saw on the North Side. Having a vet like Renteria on the bench as a backup is solid, but I guarantee Dusty plays him way too much.
  9. The Sun-Times put up a picture of Joaquin Benoit on their back cover, instead of Garza.
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Wow huge play by Seattle, why the Saints wouldn't do a QB sneak or handoff to FB is beyond me with only an inch to go no reason to give it to a rb who starts 5 years behind the line of scrimmage. Especially when that running back is Julius Jones. I do agree going for it was the right move, just bad play call. These announcers kinda suck. Did you know Hasselbeck and Brees are "veteran" quarterbacks?
  11. @WhitlockJason Sources: Jim Gray has closed deal to host Jim Harbaugh's "The Auction" later today on ESPN.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Estimated # of years before he's back in college? With the combination of Troy/Alex Smith as his QB??? Over/under might be at 1.5.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Great Wars are Remembered?
  14. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) A lot to give up when you're probably not going to compete in your division. I wouldn't say that. There is a lot of competition in that division, but I could easily see any of 4 teams winning it. Cubs rotation is decent, back of the bullpen is great. Their lineup has holes, but if some of the older guys can turn it around, they have some pop too.
  15. Is that Hak Ju-Lee guy the SS that is so good defensively that he was supposed to move Castro to 2b?
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) Add to that the fact that he has one of the greatest posters I've ever seen, and you have yourself one of the best hitters of all time. Wow. That poster is awesome!
  17. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Per Marc Silverman's Facebook, Matt Garza to Cubs should happen today Hopefully its for Starlin Castro
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) I hope it doesn't mean that Jabroni (or one of the banned posters with a grudge) will come and shoot the place up. Is the Ultimate Warrior going to make an appearance? I may have to ditch the wife at the Hawks game if he's gonna come running through the bar.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!! YOU LOGGED IN FOR THAT??? THAT IS A STUPID POST!!! STOP BEING STUPID!!! NO I'M RIGHT AND YOUR OPINION IS WRONG!!!
  20. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) Do these new overtme NFL playoff rules only apply to the opening drive of OT? Yeah. If the first team to get the ball kicks a FG on the first drive, then the other team gets a chance to at least tie or beat them. After that, its sudden death.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) Paying $10 million for a set up man is irresponsible. It takes 2 really bad and 6 other bad appearances all year to take an ERA from 1.73 to 3.73, and the WHIP can be just as bad too. And, considering that Soriano has had arm problems in the past as well, it's just simply not wise to spend $10 million on him unless you plan on having him close. Your numbers argument can also be made about closers, but I do agree $10 million is not a smart move for a set up man. As the previous post says, the Yankees agree cause they won't pay him that much. If they did, it may be a dumb move, but I just wouldn't call it irresponsible, due to their financial resources and need to win every single year. They have the money to spend, if sometimes they have to make questionable moves, they have the ability to.
  22. QUOTE (DOWNTOWN PANTHER @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) Dont take my word for it. Check in with me at about midseason and let me know then. You guys dont have to shoot the messanger here. Alos, for the person comparing Adam Dunn to Reggie Jackson. Relax!! It wasn't meant to be a direct comparison. I was just saying that striking out a ton doesn't suddenly make a player awful.
  23. Touche. I guess have more memories of him recently with the Cubs, a little older and slower.
  24. QUOTE (DOWNTOWN PANTHER @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 07:18 AM) The former Texas Longhorn QB recruit may have a big name, but has hit more meaningless roundtrippers than anyone in the game. As a Cincinnati Reds fan I can tell you that the Reds were drastically better without him. He can hit the long ball, but strikes out a ton. There is a reason he has floated from team to team since leaving Cincinnati. Unless they do a movie about Will Farrells life, Adam Dunn will be best known as the most overrated power hitter of this baseball generation. Thats just my opinion. Reggie Jackson struck out a ton. Jim Thome does as well.
