  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 01:57 AM) It was my team and I feel pretty good about it. It was the right call. The ref saw two extended arms to the waist, when he sees extended arms he will call it every time. It's a potentially dangerous play. People complaining about those calls not being made are wrong. How often do you see a guy extend both arms to the lower back of a player well in the air? It comes up so rarely. Well said. Tisdale is 7 feet tall but he still only hit him in the waist, which shows how high up the guy was. There are some moments when that athleticism does show, but it seems as if tenativeness might holding back his potential for now. Why is he so scared to shoot 3s? Several times he has had an open look and passed on it for a shorter shot. You aren't gonna be a post player in the NBA, you are gonna have to shoot from the outside if you want to become a pro. Oops. That 9 of the last 10 stat got so embedded in my head, I forgot that last season was that one win out of 10. Definitely should be a competitive rivalry in the near future.
  2. Are people actually complaining about the Tisdale intentional foul call? The guy was in the air about to score and he smacked him in the waist with absolutely no chance of affecting his shot. It was a stupid f***ing play that deserved the call. Sucks to lose this game they could have won, but Mizzou had to win a Braggin Rights game eventually. Gotta forget about the last two losses and get ready for Big Ten play. And please stop being so damn inconsistent.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) And they have 8 days off between this game they just played against a crappy team, and the game at Virginia. That's not a good combination, and I doubt they can win. The Virginia that just lost at home to Seattle? And I'm not talking about the SuperSonics.
  4. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Um, did you miss the first drive of the game? And no other QB could have made that throw he made on the TD pass.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) I agree with what you're saying there, and Cutler deserves a lot of the criticism he gets. I just think Trent has some vendetta against him, but maybe it's just hyperbolic ESPN statements. A few weeks ago on B & B's Who Ya Crappin, someone called out Dilfer for one of his ridiculous comments. I don't remember it exactly, but he was basically saying that in order to win a Super Bowl, a QB needs to make several big plays a game, his defense can't do it alone, and Cutler is not good enough to make those plays and win it all. Um, Trent, you won a Super Bowl because your defense gave up 23 total points in four playoff games, while you averaged under 150 passing yards a game in those playoffs. You did absolutely nothing to help your team win it, other than not fumbling the snap or handoff.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) That broadcast yesterday was just horrible in general. They sucked off Favre for the entire first quarter, it was just awful. My favorite part was calling Toby Gerhart a great cold-weather back. You know, cause he went to Stanford and is from SoCal.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) They might be able to get a waiver if the price was right. When the Bears were in Champaign, they were quick to revise the liquor laws in whatever way the Bears wanted.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) And in response, I can say the exact same thing about every NL team. "If Ryan Howard isn't Ryan Howard, and Utley can't stay healthy, the Phillies offense will be pretty mediocre". If Adam Dunn isn't Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko shows his age, the White Sox offense will be pretty mediocre at best.
  9. It's snowing in Minneapolis. 4 inches expected by kickoff, around 8 inches total. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) You'd have a hard time convincing me to freeze my ass off to watch my underperforming home team from bleacher seating without any possibility of ordering beers at the game. That's right, this game is dry. And its general admission so to get the best seats you have to get there over two hours early. And sit in the snow/cold. Sober.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) This might be the most random post in Soxtalk history. Yes, it was worth it. They went to the playoffs the next two seasons. JP wouldn't have put them over the top. Sorry, I guess it wasn't very clear but I was referring to the Cubs trading Nolasco (along w/ Mitre & Pinto) to the Marlins to get Juan Pierre. For one season during which they won 66 games.
  11. I wonder if the one season of Juan Pierre the Cubs had was worth trading him away.
  12. Marlins re-sign Ricky Nolasco to a 3-year, $26.5 million extension
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) Its been so annoying reading the complaints from players. You... play... FOOTBALL. Its a winter sport, its been played outdoors in cold conditions for decades, and you get paid stupid money to do it. Shut up and play. I get what you are trying to say, but if the ground is truly as frozen and hard as they say, I think they have a reason to complain. You don't want to play on a concrete like surface where you can easily get concussed on a simple tackle.
  14. The rotation is suddenly looking solid for the Brew Crew, Gallardo/Marcum/Greinke/Wolf. Its always nice to see middle market teams make moves like this, showing their fans they are legitimately going for the playoffs.
  15. Who was the genius in the Hawks marketing dept. that scheduled the Heritage night vs. the Red Wings? I'm sure that just enticed fans even more. I personally didn't boo, but the fact is that he played more seasons in Detroit than in Chicago, works for Detroit now, and theres that whole 75th anniversary thing too. I know he's from Chicago, but I can see why fans would boo.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) MLB Network, Fangraphs and Baseball Reference are the three greatest things to happen to baseball fans this century. Carlos Gonzalez is not on that list?
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Especially when she sees me in that jacket and sunglasses.
  18. Hmmm, taking my wife to the Hawks game that night. Can't bring her before, cause as soon as she sees all you studly men, she will leave me in a heartbeat...
  19. Donovan McNabb had been benched in favor of the one, the only, Mr. Sexy Rexy
  20. Thanks for clinching the WS Bobby and for showing the world that fat guys who like to drink can be successful. Good luck in Boston.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) Ed Wade. He'll wait til its mid-July when his team is 12 games back and think its time to make a playoff run.
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Red Lobster Biscuits to go along with a Beef Wellington and I'm ready to die.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Was he the guy on the Twins that was suspended for PEDs a couple years ago? I forget. I think that was Juan Rincon, most recently w/ the Rockies.
