  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) I dunno. Quentin's poor defense could cost us a game or 2. Luckily, that game or 2 will be the days that Dunn hits 5 homers in a game. 162-0 it is.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Should they want it, sure? But there's wanting something and then there's reality. I know Dodgers fans that are still disgusted with that trade. I see it going down as one of those "Ten worst trades of the decade" type moves. Who would have thought that trading away Casey f***ing Blake would get you a way better prospect than trading CC Sabathia, both in the same month.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 11:49 PM) This team doesn't need any more Royals. I think I could stomach Joakim Soria as the Sox closer.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) I read that, but I have also heard some whispers about it possibly being moved to Soldier Field now. If that actually happened, then Lovie truly has the world's largest horseshoe stuck up his ass. With the all the injuries their opponents keep having, the Vikings having 3 injured QBs, moving a road division game to Soldier Field would take the cake.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Avatar changed for awesomeness. A+
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) I would assume anywhere between $3-5 mill a year, both probably over 2 years (though I could see Guerrier getting 3, though I think the 3rd year would be a mistake). $3-$5 million for either of those guys seems pricey. They have both put up good numbers recently, but neither has the lights-out stuff that would make me feel confident in giving them that much money. I'd be worried one of them could easily have a bad year with the way most middle relievers performance varies year by year. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Well, we once had Guerrier. Wonder what his relationship is with the Sox after he was traded that one time. Considering he never played in the majors with the Sox, I'm sure he wouldn't care. In fact, the trade may have helped him get to the majors quicker.
  7. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Tennessee up to #7 in the AP. Not bad, I guess, for a football school. Enjoy it all you can til Monday.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) He's been like that for the past few challenges. I think it's their married life. I know they were having money problems at one time and Brad wanted to provide for Tori so she wouldn't worry. Now he's very sensitive about anything in these challenges. I remember a year or two ago, he was trying to start a Farmers Insurance office somewhere in the south/southwest burbs, but I can't find the website he had up anymore. It's probably kinda tough to do that when you are spending all this time in Prague or Vancouver competing on challenges.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) Ravens D has been an embarrassment in the 2nd half. That offense has not been doing them any favors though. Get a couple first downs and give your D a break. They were so gassed on the last drive. That being said, this isn't the same Ravens D as the past 5-10 years. Getting old and have a questionable secondary.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 07:15 AM) So if my math is correct, and it's probably not as I suck at math, the Phillies are currently sporting a rotation that will make around $80 million next year? I can't remember if the Phillies got any cash back from the Oswalt trade. But give or take a few million and $80 sounds about right. According to BR.com: Halladay - $20 mil Oswalt - $16 mil (-$7 mil from Astros) Lee - $24 mil Hamels - $9.5 mil Blanton - $8.5 mil So thats about $78 million in the rotation, $71 mil of which they pay themselves.
  11. 1. Wow. Halladay/Oswalt/Lee/Hamels. It doesn't get much better than that. 2. The Yankees are in dire need of a starter now and they sure as hell can't sign Carl Pavano. It should be interesting to see what move they can conjure up. 3. The rich keep getting richer in the MLB, the Phillies are right up there now with BOS & NYY. As a Sox fan, I can't really say much either cause the Sox are spending more than most other teams too.
  12. Ugh, what an awful f***ing loss that was. And your Norris Trophy winning defenseman is now at -11 for the season.
  13. Leaders & Legends. That quite possibly might be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
  14. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) Not really sure where to put this, but... Tennessee is the only school to be top-5 nationally in attendance in football and men's/women's hoops in same year... and we've done it 7 times. Neyland Stadium is the 3rd largest football stadium in the country. How many college basketball arenas can seat over 21, 500? Those stats are pretty much given due to their facilities.
  15. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 12:00 AM) You guys do not understand the caliber of prospect that Domonic Brown is. I do understand what Caulfield is saying. No matter what caliber prospect Brown is, he still has not proven anything in the majors, while CQ has had an MVP caliber season. Brown has all the hype and the talent, but he still has done little to nothing in MLB, while Quentin has a history. Everything says that Dominic Brown will be a stud, but until it happens, its still a question mark.
  16. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) Yet that guy in LF we have got hit 21 times (in a fluke year for him for HBP) inflating his OBP to .341. Personally, I'd rather just keep Quentin and stick him in LF where he'd hurt you less defensively and put De Aza in RF where he can probably give you what Pierre is giving you. Or if you don't want to risk the unknown (and I'll partially say that about Q as well), put Rios in RF and see whats out there for a CF if you want to keep Pierre/Quentin. (not saying go out and grab Granderson, but you get the point) Rios is still a defensive stud in CF or RF and I'll personally stomach watching Pierre play baseball for another season. In either case, Mark Teahen has got to go to help free up some of that cash. I get that everyone hates Pierre, but no, De Aza does not equal Pierre.
  17. I know we have all seen it, but I've already watched it 30 times this week, so lets see it again. Greatest moment in Reality TV history:
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) Personally, I think our lineup takes too big a hit if you ship TCQ out for bullpen help. That's just insanity. At home it does. With his splits on the road the last two years, I think we'd be fine with someone else as long as they can play some D.
  19. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) I work with his cousin (heard alot of stories about Downs). Looks like his "b*t*h" trophy wife (as his cousin likes to put it) will be very happy in LA. This post is worthless without pics...
  20. f*** whoever shot the dog with an arrow. Way to save the day MB!!!
  21. The whole "Bullpen '11" thread sure changed discussion topics pretty quickly.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) Bill Simmons, you are awful. Listening to his podcasts I noticed he definitely has a writers voice. Should be an interesting broadcast.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) LOL! CNN Inexplicably Airs Dumb And Dumber Diarrhea Scene Was just about to post this, hilarious! What a classic movie too.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) And Miami and Oakland are baseball stadiums as well...so we are probably among the worst with Pittsburgh. Most of this has to do with the weather. Part of it has to do with the insistence to allow hs football games to take place the same week as Bears games. Time for field turf. A spokesman for the Park District told the Tribune that Soldier Field is not allowed to host any event up to five days before a Bears game. The Prep Bowl was the Friday before Bears/Eagles. Hmmmmm....
