  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) David or Vincent? Mark
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) Remember when Juan Gonzalez turned down an 8 year, $143 million extension with the Tigers because of the dimensions at Comerica? That was back when that kind of money actually meant something. One of the worst decisions in baseball history. I think that kind of money still means something. It's about the same yearly deal Werth got it, and that signing was a pretty big deal.
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) when its all said and done, the Bucs will look at the two games that they should have won versus Atlanta and they will know why they missed the playoffs. At least they looked good doing it. Those old school unis are awesome.
  4. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) Since it's early and slow. Anyone want to pick crawfords contract after Werth signed for crazy high? Also KW looks like a genious now signing Dunn when he did with the Werth contract we may have paid more for waiting. 8 yrs., $175 mil
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) It wouldn't be hard at all for the Cubs to beat that package if they gave up Castro or Soto, but they might not get the "I used to work for Boston" discount. I doubt they would give him the long-term contract he is looking for. I wonder if they would be willing to give up the pieces for a one-year rental, especially since they aren't expected to contend in 2011.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) You know, I like Bailey, but this is absolute crazy talk. Cincinnati wouldn't be happier than if you proposed Alexei Ramirez, a top 5-7 SS in the entire game with a very team friendly contract still, for Homer Bailey, who, even with the promise, has still been nothing more than a 4.50 ERA pitcher. Alexei Ramirez also looks like he's going to be able to perform at like this for another 4-6 years, so I'm really not too worried about his age. Bailey for Ramirez is awful, and not in the way a lot of trades are around here, but in that it's an absolutely terrible deal for the White Sox. The infatuation with Homer Bailey around here is a tad bit ridiculous.
  7. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) I think they look pretty cool. Really? I just got a quick look at them during a highlight, but they look funky to me.
  8. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 02:39 AM) The Chicago White Sox have acquired RHP Joba Chamberlain from the New York Yankeees in exchange for OF Carlos Quentin and P Gregory Infante No thanks.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:32 AM) I AA. There is a big difference. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) Ahem, FCS. LOL Excuse me. Fixed.
  10. How good of a coach can Frank Beamer be if this team lost at home to a FCS school??? Or is the ACC that bad??
  11. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) Maybe if we backload ALL of our contracts, they'll never catch up with us? That has seemed to work well on the North Side
  12. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) I dont know the answer to your question, but I do know that the Upper Deck sucks. All Upper Decks do, not just USCF. IMO the environment is much weaker, so much more removed from sitting the lower bowl. If someone offered me UD seats or a nice HD flat screen and comfy couch I prefer the latter. After I stopped going on JCC day camp field trips and 12 year old birthday parties the idea of sitting in the UD at this point (by choice) just seems awful. If you can get outfield seats over Upper Deck seats. Sitting in the front few rows of most of the UD sections behind the plate are some of the best seats in the house. Much, much better than sitting in the outfield.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) Redhawks!!!! MAC champs. Take that Huskies. Wife's a Redhawk grad, great game!!!
  14. From the rumors I have seen, it sounds like Werth is gonna get somewhere around 5 years, $75-$80 million. If thats the case, then the Sox would definitely be better off with Konerko. Do not want to spend that much money on Werth.
  15. For any of you who love train wreck reality TV and the Jersey Shore, check out My Big Friggin Wedding on VH-1. Hilarious.
  16. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Brian looks like you were right about CT just being a gulag challenge. Shame. I hope the blue team loses next week. It would be great to see CT rip off Johnny's head. We were about to see it, but damn MTV makes us wait another week. Kinda disappointed that whoever does the best advances. I think it would be cooler if you had to beat CT to stay alive, if not then both people could be eliminated. Not that it mattered with Tina anyway though.
  17. I think people also have an issue with the way he pleaded and begged to be in the Hall of Fame. It's one thing when fans/writers campaign for a player to be voted in, but when a player does that much, I don't think people like it. There's other players in a similar position as him and I don't think you hear them complain anywhere as much.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) But that's an NL ERA of 4, not an AL one. And perhaps more importantly, they didn't need to extend him Good point. When I first saw the signing, I didn't realize it was an extension. That is weird, especially with all of the young pitching talent they have. Maybe they like the effect he has on the youngsters and think he stabilizes the rotation? I don't know?
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Reds re-sign Bronson Arroyo, 3 years, $35 million. (Rosenthal's twitter) In 2009, they signed him to a 3 yr., $34 mil contract, so this deal just adds on two more years. He has been a guarantee for 200+ innings, ERA of around 4.00 the last several years. Still seems a bit high, but his last two seasons he was at 3.84 & 3.88 with at least 15 wins.
  20. Reds re-sign Bronson Arroyo, 3 years, $35 million. (Rosenthal's twitter)
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) I thought about that, but Linebrink was a salary dump, Marte was not. Good point. Marte was partly dumped because of issues with Ozzie. I also remember that towards the end of the season they like couldn't pitch him at home or something. Either he did something to the fans or was just flat out awful. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) I'm still amazed that Marte even has a gig still. He's made $7.75 million the next two years and pitched 31 innings, TOTAL. He was actually one of the key components of the Yankees 2009 WS. He faced 8 Phillies batters, including Ryan Howard 4 times, and didn't give up a single baserunner.
