  1. WojYahooNBA RT @KCJHoop: DRose on whether he will watch LeBron's return to Cleveland: "I got my second season of Dexter to watch."
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Oney Guillen just tweeted this: My sources r telling me that sox signed a big name. That organization can't keep any secrets. Leaks all over the place Is Oney the "rival exec"?
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) Right now the White Sox bullpen consists of Santos, Sale and Thorton. Right now the Twins bullpen consists of Capps, Neshek, Mijares, and Nathan coming off of Tommy John surgery
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) The largest stadium in the US would hold roughly 7% of Qatar's total population Qatar's 4 biggest cities (est 2010 population): Doha (998,651), Al-Rayyan (444,557), Al-Khor (31,547), Al-Wakrah (31,441)
  5. LOL @ Bill Simmons: sportsguy33 And... all the rumors about insane bribes being thrown around to get the 2022 World Cup have been proven correct! Wow. Qatar needs to thank its special consultant for the 2022 WC bid: Cam Newton's father. Any time you can hold a World Cup in a hot Middle East country that's smaller than Connecticut + has no soccer tradition, you have to do it.
  6. Russia gets World Cup 2018. Qatar beats out USA for the 2022 World Cup. Money/Oil talks.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I'd say the AFC Championship vs Elway was bigger or game 1 of the NBA finals vs the Spurs. Yeah, and the World Series Game 7 too. A bit of over-exaggeration on my part, but for a town with little sports success and a bleak future outlook at the moment, it's a pretty big day.
  8. So is tonight the biggest night in Cleveland sports history since the Browns won the '64 NFL Championship??
  9. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 07:18 AM) And what if *the other person signed* doesn't produce anywhere near those BIG BUCKS he receives? Is that devaluing or just making bad baseball decisions? It depends how much money Konerko gets and how much money *the other person* receives too. If somebody pays Konerko more than the Sox are willing to pay, then I doubt they give someone else similar money. They probably go cheaper and maybe sign two guys with the money, so then its a different comparison. But yeah, if any player doesn't produce to the level of his contract, then it is a bad baseball move in the end.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:21 AM) Why would it be very bad? There's no reason to believe he's suddenly going to suck and hit like Pena who many seem to love so much? The guy is a professional hitter who is actually improving his approach. We can afford him if we dump Edwin Jackson on somebody. Just do that, White Sox. Don't need Edwin. And Paulie is VERY VERY POPULAR with our fanbase. Not good business to let paulie walk; just isn't good business. I'm not advocating that they definitely let him walk. There's only a certain amount of BIG BUCKS that you can pay him until it becomes a bad decision for the team and hurts their chances of winning. I think they will value him highly all things considered, but you can't just match any contract any team throws out there, especially at his age.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) We're soon going to find out how valuable Paulie is. He's going to make BIG BUCKS the next 3 years. We devalue our own, folks. We just do. And what if he doesn't produce anywhere near those BIG BUCKS he receives? Is that devaluing or just making smart baseball decisions?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) (presumably not counting the postseason) If we aren't counting the White Sox postseason games, then we won't count the Rangers games. The interleague success they had didn't carry over well in the WS.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) 73-71 against the AL. The AL Champion Texas Rangers were 76-68 against the AL, 3 games better.
  14. Availability/Legality of guns??? I wonder what the method of homicide rates are in the US as compared to other countries.
  15. Jamie Moyer to have Tommy John surgery today. Vows to pitch again in 2012 when he will be 49.
  16. Shaun Hill out with broken middle finger. Drew Stanton to start on Sunday. All the breaks keep going the Bears way this season. (no pun intended)
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Scott Linebrink seems like an appropriate offer for Ed Wade. Only if he's 13 games out in late July and is trying to keep his team in the race.
  18. Good to be back at the Hall, it was a solid atmosphere. I spent the whole first half cursing Mike Davis, so of course he finally blows up in the 2nd half. So frustrating to watch him. Solid all-around win, keep up the momentum up in the pacific NW. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) Now you guys get to see first hand the stupidity that is UNC basketball. Poorly coached, can't shoot, and have zero basketball IQ. It's like the program just took a vacation after 09 and never came back. Its amazing how much talent they have on that team too. My friend and I kept commenting how it felt like nearly any player on that team could score at will at anytime if he really wanted to. Some of the moves they were making were sick. But then when it comes to making the plays necessary to win a basketball game, they just can't figure it out. Or hit an open 3.
  19. There already is "professional" football team playing in LA
  20. Does anybody know if the Metra happens to run any later trains on New Years Eve? The last ones all leave downtown around 12:30/12:40. I highly doubt they do, but maybe I'm wrong.
  21. Dear Chicago Blackhawks, Win some games at home please! Sincerely, Your loyal season ticket holders
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) So beyond the woe is me discussion on Boise. Big Ten post season awards came out. I will tell you right now that it would be difficult to field a better first team defensive line than the one that was picked. Kerrigan Watt Clayborn Heyward All of those guys should play prominent roles on Sunday. As will the 5th guy on the list, who led the 2nd team D-line, Corey Liuget
  23. @ESPNChiHawks Morin just recalled so that prob answers hossa question
  24. Heading down to Champaign for the game tonight. It's kind of lost its luster as a potential marquee OOC win with UNC's struggles, but still should be a good matchup and its always nice to beat UNC. I'm interested to see Barnes play too, although I guess he hasn't been very good yet this season. First time I've gone down there for a game and not spent the night, thank god it's a super early 8:30 PM tip-off, ugh.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) Neyer replies. Well said. He did make some good points about their future payroll and probable inability to re-sign CarGo. That being said, it is weird that they signed him to this deal now, instead of waiting til 2011 or 2012, since they had him signed til 2014 as it was. It might be better to wait out the year or two, see if he can stay healthy again. On a side note, it was cool to see a writer from one website constructively criticize another website's piece, actually quoting it as well. Nowadays, it seems as if you only get anonymous criticisms and name-calling instead of just an honest respectful opinion piece.
