  1. Jeff Passan thinks its a bad deal for both sides. Interesting read. I agree that it might be a bad move for the Rockies. Paying one player $20 mil year when you don't have the highest payroll could lead to trouble in the future, especially when you will have to pay Ubaldo & CarGo. Their past big money deals worked out awful, and Tulo played in less than 125 games in 2 of his 1st 4 seasons so far. I think he's way unfair on Tulo though. Yes, maybe in 4 years he could have signed a $200 million contract. But you never know whats gonna happen, he has a history of injuries, likes Colorado, and $119 million is a lot of money in its own right.
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) People overrate this James Madison loss. They lost 5 days after a huge emotional loss against Boise. We all know that if they played tomorrow VT would win big. VT got better as the season went on, Iowa played worse as the season progressed. How do you overrate a home loss to a 6-5 division II school?? Thats awful. Period. I dont care how "emotional" the Boise game was. The difference in talent alone should have given VT a win in that game.
  3. Not a good start for the Big 10. That was a game that looked to be a lock for Minny.
  4. That does seem a bit high, but there is something to be said for an infielder that can play 2B, SS, & 3B with a 20-homer bat as well. They might regret the deal in 2013, but its not the worst thing in the world for the next two seasons. Good for him.
  5. I have absolutely no problem with keeping Bobby. For like $1 or $2 million, maybe $3 million. That would be a deal I could go with.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) And Chaminade takes down Oklahoma. That makes them 6-73 all time in the Maui tourney. Go Silverswords!
  7. Niemi starting in goal for the Sharks tonight. With the way he has played, it could be a good thing for the Hawks.
  8. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) The Rays pretty much grew their entire roster from the farm system, while they changed over most of their rotation, they did so with pieces from their own system Price, Shields, Davis, Hellickson, etc. Carlos Pena was brought in on the cheap as a reclamation project, as was most of their bullpen, but the key cogs all came from the organization. It's a lot easier to rebuild from within when you have a top 10 pick for ten straight seasons, and a top 4 pick for 8 of 10 seasons. Maybe the White Sox should become the worst team in the league for the next ten years, maybe they can become like the Rays. I will give them credit for making some good moves, but they also were bad for a really long time which helped them get the top talent in draft after draft.
  9. If Javy goes to Florida, I bet he has a great year. ERA in the low 3s, maybe even under 3. The combination of the NL, no pressure, and and super close to Puerto Rico will have him excelling down there.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) Rowand as a god started in that Yankee's series where he tracked down everything in CF over the last couple of games. Didn't he crash into the wall a few times there too? That always seems to give people the misconception of good fielding and elevates a player's status.
  11. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Haters gonna hate. I am and I do. http://deadspin.com/5697615/bruce-pearls-w...xion-comparison
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) We aren't? Maybe I'm missing something, but not really. I guess you know a couple people who aren't the mother, but thats about it.
  13. So I really have to wait two full weeks for a new Cutthroat episode???? Damn you MTV!
  14. Aubrey Huff resigns with the Giants on a two-year deal. (Per Giants beat writer) @extrabaggs As first reported by @jonmorosi, Huff will receive $22 million over two years, with a club option for 2013. 10 minutes ago via web
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) wait for it dary This season definitely has seemed to pick it up a notch, although they are no closer to finding out who the mother is.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) Does he not? One of the best defensive DH available. Joking of course. But hey, the White Sox have many needs, starting catcher being one of them, designated hitter/backup 1B being the other. I think what the poster had in mind is that Victor Martinez is not a catcher because of his defense, while Dunn could play 1B on a decent level? We had the best one in the league last year.
  17. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) The article that was referenced in the MLBTR post about the signing said he turned down 48/3 from us to take 50/4 from Detroit... Makes no sense if true. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/11/tige...r-martinez.html That makes zero sense and anyway I don't believe that KW would offer him $16 million a season.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) You have more faith in the American public than I do apparently. I'm saying if you ask 10 random people to describe a tea party member, you'll get something along the lines of "extreme GOP member" or Palin supporter, etc. You have more faith in the people than I do. I bet several of those people have no idea what the Tea Party even is.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Victor Martinez on the verge on signing with the Tigers. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Serrano reports that Martinez's deal with Tigers will be for four years, $50 million, and that team outbid #RedSox, #WhiteSox, #Orioles, With the money they had coming off the books and the net worth of their owner, you knew the Tigers were gonna make a big move or two. The Red Sox weren't gonna go near a 4-year deal with him. I wonder what the White Sox offered (if they really did).
  20. The Pacers best player shot 6-21 from the field and they still won by 16 points. In Miami. Awesome.
  21. Maine South back in the final again!
  22. Joe Johnson Richard Hamiltion Richard Jefferson Ben Gordon
  23. sportsguy33 Good news: Brad Childress already found another job.
