  1. I like it. I don't think the Sox would go into the season with a catching tandem of Flowers/Castro, so I wonder what this means for Tyler. Always good to have Thornton in the bullpen. Good luck to Torres.
  2. Just booked a trip to Nashville to see the Hawks play the Preds in January. Not sure what type of hockey atmosphere to expect down there, but never been to Nashville, so should be a good time.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) Sun-Times and Tribune reporting Mike Shaw to announce Thursday with both having sources that say Illinois. If they can pull Shaw and then nab Randle, that would be an amazing class despite not getting the top two in Illinois (even though Illinois was never really in those recruiting races). WEBER CAN'T RECRUIT!!!!!
  4. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 12:56 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=5725597 Boise deserves a spot in the title game. This article gives reasons why. It does gives reasons, but unfortunately they aren't very good reasons. Last year's win over Oregon doesn't matter cause it was last season. Wins over the last 5 seasons don't matter when you are discussing the 2010 season. Virginia Tech lost at home to James Madison & the ACC sucks. Oregon State isn't guaranteed a +.500 record. Could BSU beat Oregon or Auburn on a netural field? Sure, it would happen, they are talented and thats the nature of football, especially when you are a trick play machine like BSU. But teams like Oklahoma or Wisconsin could beat them once in a while too, but that doesnt mean they should be in the title game either.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) I'm not going to hate. It's a cool commercial. I agree, it was kinda cool. But my favorite part had to be: "Am I supposed to stop listening to my friends?"" "But they are my friends" Yeah, you f***ing dumbass. They are your friends with zero business experience, who are making awful business decisions that have led you on this path.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Who are the top 5 in QB rating in the NFL right now (without looking)? Hint: RYAN FITZPATRICK IS #2 In no particular order, Orton, Rivers, Shaun Hill, Brady, & Patrick FitzRyan Edit: I got 2 of the other 4, not too bad.
  7. I got just as caught up in the last week of the 2008 season too. From the start of that Twins series until the end of the year, I would get home from work, pour myself a cocktail, and sit on the couch and yell at the TV for 3 hours. (Well, I did go to game 163 though). It was intense and took over my life, plus they kept losing at first which it made it more maddening.
  8. Omega! Pressed reply a second too late, damn you Balta!
  9. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) Auburn #1 in new BCS, what a joke. Boise still 3... Teams keep losing but they still don't get their chance. What a joke. Totally. I doubt Auburn or Oregon would have won road games at New Mexico St. or San Jose St. Boise St. is getting so screwed.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) CQ was Soriano-like in that he was able to somewhat mask a below average offensive season with a ridiculous 2-week hot stretch. From June 22 through July 11 (16 games): .367/.492/1.082/1.573. 11 HRs, 24 RBIs. Now I know you can take away a lot of players' peak hot streaks and their numbers don't look as impressive. But this is pretty damn extreme in this case. Outside of those 2 weeks CQ was straight poopie. 10 of those homers, and 22 of those RBIs were at home too. His home/road splits last year were ridiculous, and the Cell is nothing like Coors Field either.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) Gotta love a well rested Lee to start things off. I'm kinda interested to see if pitching in game 6 affects Lincecum at all. I know it was only 3 batters, but sometimes pitchers struggle when their rhythm gets messed up so you never know. Lee refuses to pitch on 3 days rest, not cause hes not a gamer, but just because he knows he wont be as good.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Nobody said it was closed. I was saying it was starting to close. You said they would never have a legit chance to win it all again, yet their offense will still be better than the Giants this year, even if they lose Werth. Anything can happen in the playoffs obviously, but I would put up Halladay/Oswalt/Hamels against any other team in the league. It doesnt always work out, but their chances are still decent next year.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Ratings have gone down every year for a while now. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/wstv.shtml I don't have the exact numbers, but last Monday showed what matters ratings-wise. The ALCS game between the Rangers & Yankees got around a 6.5 rating, while the Jaguars/Titans football game got a 7.2. If a game with the Yankees & a Dallas team, can't beat the Nashville/Jacksonville markets, you know that baseball is not gonna get the ratings anyway.
  14. Saints down 17 at home to Colt McCoy & the Browns...WOW
  15. They almost never ever call delay of game when the clock hits 00. Of course they call it on a Bears pick-6.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) That's a TD by Cutler! Way to challenge the wrong play Lovie. Cutler broke the plane of the end zone. Unbelievable
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) That looked like a TD to me... good challenge A good team might save the challenge and just stuff it in from the 1 with 4 tries. The Bears goalline offense is so bad, you have to challenge to get the points. Looks like the call is gonna stand though.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 02:53 AM) lol. Did you read his post? He did say they were probably still a playoff team. Being the favorite doesn't really mean much, as they were the overwhelming favorite this year. He said they won't have a super legit chance to win it all again. I get that the playoffs are a crapshoot. But just getting there is half the battle and with those 3 starters, they definitely have a chance to win it again. Will it happen? Who knows. But to act like their window is closed is kinda crazy.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 23, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I was about to answer it, then you answered it. The Heat are becoming fascinating with their old bench. It sounds like KW is taking over. Can Carl Everett or Roberto Alomar play basketball??
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Never Thanks for the piece of info. I never knew that, very interesting. Good for ND for sticking with service acadamies out of respect, but I'm sure they liked it better when they were easy wins.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 23, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) No sane GM would give up anything of value for CQ right now. Unfortunately 80% of thie board doesn't realize that, so we still get the CQ for Choo or CQ for Rasmus trades popping up all the time. It ain't gonna happen friends.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 23, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) I have a feeling this might have been the last time the Phillies have a super legit chance at winning it all. They'll still be a playoff team next year, but they probably won't get Werth back. That rotation of theirs is still really good, but this is not a young team and I think we might see some regressions from a lot of their position players (Rollins, Ibanez, Polanco, maybe even Utley). Really? Unless I'm missing something, they still have Halladay-Oswalt-Hamels in their rotation. Despite what happened this year, that still makes them favorites to at least win the NL, IMO.
