  1. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 23, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I haven't been to Chicago since 1989 and when I do go back to visit one day with my boy, I have absolutly no desire to go to Wrigley, I just don't get that Cubs/Wrigley Field lore. I've only been to Wrigley twice in my life, once when me and my best friend (a Cubs fan) played hooky in HS and caught a Mets/Dwight Gooden game (he was very insistant) and the other time with my dad to catch a Dodgers/Fernando Valenzuela game...and in keeping up with true Chicago Cubs form, they lost both those games, lol. You might not get that lore, but 99% of the people that visit Chicago do, and Wrigley Field is #1 on their list of things to do. Even during the offseason, there are people walking around the park starstruck that take pictures of them with the sign in the background. Combine that with the popularity of the neighborhood, there is not much you can do. I know several "real" Cubs fans that wont go to games, but as long as the tourist aspect of it is around, it does not matter.
  2. So at what point does ND stop scheduling Navy and replace them with a more beatable opponent?
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Those f***ers are the worst. To most Bears fans the only criteria required to work within the organization is to have played for the '85 team. For sure. Thats why I'm kinda happy Singletary is failing so far, just maybe it can shut some of those meatheads up for a little bit at least.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) over it How quickly are you gonna be over the Stanley Cup?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) Dallas Clark out for the season. Damn. 2 of the best 3 TEs in the league out for the year and the third is hurting as well.
  6. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) So uh, Nick Boynton so far this year, BLEGH That's not what Jen Patterson said
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Well now that doesn't make much sense either, because Tim Lincecum has better career numbers than Felix Hernandez. Whatever, I don't feel like starting a best pitcher in baseball discussion right now, but yeah I was trying to say not considering Lincecum elite is ridiculous cause there are very few that can match him. Personally, I think after this past season, Felix is #1 but we will see.
  8. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Raptors and Grizzlies maybe? Oddly enough they both came in together. That whole expanding into Canada idea worked out splendidly.
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) This is the Lincecum I expected in Game 1 of the NLDS. In my honest opinion, he's a tier below the elite. Same way Ubaldo Jimenez. If your "elite" is Felix & postseason Cliff Lee, then you are correct.
  10. U better believe we are headed back to Philly
  11. Going back to Philly, Sanchez/Cain vs. Oswalt/Hamels. Great series.
  12. Cristobal Huet: I'd rather be in the NHL Great game last night vs. VAN. Turco made a couple questionable decisions, but overall played pretty damn well (besides the shootout). Luongo actually had a great game too, until he let the last two shootout pucks slide just under his pads. Thats 4 wins in a row, good to see.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) Ever since they went up 2-1, I've been scared that that blown first game will come back to haunt them. I hope that's not going to happen, though. It looks like they're holding Lee back for game 7. He pitched on Monday, wouldn't you throw him in game 6? I know you want to try to set him up to open up the World Series, but you have to get there first. If he pitched in game 6, he would be on only 3 days rest. I believe there has been lots of talk in the past how Lee doesn't want to pitch on 3 days rest and I'm not sure if he ever has. I think they are saving him for game 7, not with the WS in mind, but just thinking that Lee on 4 days rest >>>>>> on 3 days rest. Colby Lewis is no slouch either, and he already beat Hughes once in this series.
  14. For all the talk about the Phillies H20 rotation, now it all comes down to each of those 3 guys, win or go home. (Never mind that their offense has to deal with just as formidable of a trio in Lincecum, Sanchez, Cain). Gotta love our boy Uribe with the bat flip on a sac fly.
  15. I never doubted the Giants pitching, but I did not think their bats would be able to put up 3-4 runs on both Halladay & Hamels. I figured the pitching could cancel out, while the Phillies bats would give them the advantage, but that has not been the case so far.
  16. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) Agreed, but for better of for worse, you have to remember that playoff crowds these days are atypical and not necessarily representative of everyday fans. Lots of corporate types, network sponsors, etc. Yeah, especially in a town like New York and considering how expensive the tickets at that stadium are.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) These white boy college rap videos NEED to stop. f***ing awful. You don't like this video???
  18. Or maybe you are starting to scare us with your lack of drug knowledge.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Much better? Have you looked at the numbers? Quentin actually has a higher lifetime average and is trailing in OBP by .034. He also strikes out about 100 times less a season. Dunn is a better hitter, but not by much and it wouldn't be surprising if Quentin is the better hitter in the next couple of seasons. You are missing one key fact there. In the past three seasons, Quentin has hit 35 homers, .250 AVG, .350 OBP only once, and that all came in 2008. Dunn has hit at least 38 homers & had a OBP > .350 each of the last 8 seasons. In 4 of those years he even hit .250 batting average. Who are you gonna trust? Quentin has done it once and has a history of injury problems. Dunn has done nothing but rake and get on base (and butcher in the field) for 8 straight years.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) IN fact I dont see a single reason why a playoff system would cheapen the regular season at all, because you still have to qualify for one of those top 8 spots or so. Because 2
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) Players that I'm seeing on the list that could outperform Pierre (not necessarily in the traditional leadoff way): Crawford Crisp Damon Kearns Magglio Ordonez For an extra $12-15 million in 2011 of course
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) How are we supposed to know? We're not drug addicts. I beg to differ Just beat me to it, damnit
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) The thing is, there would be just as much complaining if we had held on to Hudson and Hudson pitched like he had the first few starts of the season. "The minor league system sucks so bad!!!! Hudson is our top prospect and he is worthless."
