  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Well, looks like Lee and Price for the series. It could not have worked out better for the Yankees. They wont see either of those guys until game 3
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Phillies sweep this series. Reds did not win a season series against a team with a winning record, I dont see them hanging with Philly.
  3. Utley with a couple of bad throws, 2-0 Reds. Oswalt looking a bit shaky, leaving some pitches up, missing his mark.
  4. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) I've got to say no. He's generally been a good but not great player. How often can you say he was one of the 5-10 best pitchers in the league in a given year? Heck, he wasn't even the best starter on his team most of the time. I don't think there's even a discussion if he's not a Yankee. One other comment: if you don't think he's in based on his regular season numbers, his playoff numbers shouldn't really put him over the top... Regular season: 3.88 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 6.6 k/9, 2.8 BB/9, .8 HR/9 playoffs (41 career starts): 3.87 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 5.9 k/9, 2.5 BB/9, 1.1 HR/9 Hmmmm, looking at those numbers, I am starting to back-track on my "yes" answer. Now that I think about it, the reason his postseason numbers seem so good is because he played in the LDS era with the best team around, so he started way more games than anyone else had the opportunity too.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) It's moments like these when I wish I could use Boers & Bernstein's "Who cares?" soundbite on a message board. I wish I could use the "That's Right Brian Paruch" soundbite everywhere I go, cracks me up everytime
  6. Yes. His regular season numbers make him a borderline candidate, but his playoff numbers put him in the Hall. (I am aware of his HGH history, but considering the era, I don't let it affect my opinion too much)
  7. Wade deals with injuries all season and the Celtics knock off Miami in the EC finals, then lose to the Lakers. ESPN cuts off towards the end of the game and declares the Miami Heat NBA Champions forever.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Why do people do this? Do you actually think the Sox show accountability? Just baiting? It was partly a weak attempt at humor, but they can be comparable situations. The Sox keep getting beat by the same team in their division, while every one in charge keeps their jobs. The Twins are repeatedly unable to win a single game in the postseason, yet there is not talk about Gardy being on the hot seat. At some point, you have to look at him and say, yeah the division titles are great, but the ass-kickings in the playoffs have to stop.
  9. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Am I completely off but wasnt there supposed to be a prospect up with the Bhawks named Kyle Beach or something similar to that? He not make the team? That is correct, he is down in Rockford. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the salary cap may have played part in the decision. He was a 1st round pick, and I think his $1.1 million salary counting towards the cap if he was called up may have kept him in the minors for now.
  10. QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 03:11 AM) ive always wanted to bang a 40 year old.. sadly, i have a girlfriend now and that dream is on hold Don't worry, one day she will turn 40 as well, and your dream will come true
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) 5 minutes into CUTTHROAT and I'm hooked. Melinda finally divorcing that loser, Danny. I love this cast and can't wait to see the return on CT! Just watched it last night, great s***. I do like how the recent dominating characters (Evan, Kenny, Wes, Evelyn) are not on it, while they brought back guys like Derrick, Abe, & of course Mr. CT.
  12. Subway...$5 footlong.....can't beat that
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) Any chance Gardy loses his job for once again failing to get that team to the next level? No f***ing accountability!!!!!
  14. Not sure where this should go, but how about all the blown calls going down so far? - Golson clearly catches the ball in the 9th, ump rules it a trap - Michael Young's checked swing non-call, hits a 3-run homer the next pitch - Berkman gets a 4th strike, crushes a big double next pitch (found 31 bad ball/strike calls by Wendelstedt last night) - Posey is out stealing, called safe, scores the only run in a 1-0 SF victory It's like deja vu all over again from last year
  15. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) The next time the Sox sign a big-time free agent will be the first since Albert Belle. Yeah, we are targeting him, meaning once we realize he wants $7 million more per year and four extra years, we will drop out of the bidding. Just another attempt for the Sox management to convince the fans they are going for it. They acquired/traded for Alex Rios & Jake Peavy, both who had at least $40-50 million left on their deals. Don't act like the Sox have never spent money on players. They signed PK to a 5/$60 contract, MB signed for 4/$48. Its kinda hard to sign big name free agents with the Yankees/Red Sox around, and I'd prefer they don't overpay them either just to make a move. Even this season, they traded for EJax due $8.5 million next year and paid Manny $4 million for a month of nothing.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I dunno...one of these years the Sox are going to decide to boost payroll. They've been sitting right around $95-$98 million for the past 5 years. They've dealt with declining attendance and the economic problems over that time, but league revenue sharing dollars have gone up, and the value of lots of ad contracts probably go up as well. I could see a salary boost as being possible one of these years. The problem is...even if they decide to boost the salary, they're just not outbidding the Yankees. I hear what you are saying, but I just dont see them adding a 7 year-$140 million contract or whatever with Peavy & Rios deals still on the books.
  17. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) I was rooting for the Rays as well, but something was missing from them. I'm rooting for the Reds and it's a lack of talent to matchup. Either way, the playoffs should be good. In the end I think the Yankees beat the Phillies in 5 this year. Whats missing is they can't hit. Third in runs, but 25th in average. Thats why they always get no-hit and 1-hit, they are super streaky. When they get on base, they do a great job of stealing bases, taking extra bases, etc. But they can easily be shut down.
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) Since 2003, the Twins are 2-14 in the postseason. How is that possible? I'll give you last year, they had no business being in the playoffs. But this year you would at least figure they would be able to make it a series. 3-18 in their last 21 playoff games. I know the MLB playoffs can be a crapshoot, but those numbers are a bit ridiculous, you would think they would win at least a third of them or so, just by the simple law of baseball averages.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) And I know this wasn't an awful start but can we stop pretending James Shields is an elite pitcher. Not talking about anyone here but on ESPN and such. He is nothing more than average. Matt Garza hasn't pitched since last Thursday and would of rather had him go today after losing Game 1. I haven't watched much ESPN, but every expert I read was questioning Maddon for starting Shields over Garza. Everyone was calling Shields out for being the average pitcher he is.
  20. Unless someone wants to take Peavy's entire contract off the Sox hands, then Crawford aint gonna happen.
  21. Rays teetering on the edge right now. Down 2-0 in the 5th, two on, one out for the heart of the TEX order, Shields gets pulled for Chad Qualls (worst closer of the 2010 season) edit: And boom goes the dynamite. Michael Young 3-run blast off Qualls, 5-0 TEX
  22. Betcha Xavier McDaniel begs to differ
  23. QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) What about just letting Viciedo or some other low level play 1st base in 2011 and then sign Puljos when hes a free agent for 2012. You better buy all the unsold Sox tickets for every game in 2011, cause they will need every $$$$$ of revenue they can get to even think about signing him.
