  1. If the Sox finish the season 14-0, then a 4-10 finish by the Twins forces a game 163. It could happen.
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) Iowa walked into a hornet's nest tonight. Kinda reminds me of the Chargers/Chiefs Monday night game. Chiefs were not better than the Bolts, but all the outside effects made it obvious that the favorite will lose on the road.
  3. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) Hence why I put "usually won't" not "always won't." FYI, the last time the Cardinals played over .500 baseball in September was 2004
  4. Its only halftime, but thanks for telling me to avoid Iowa-1.5. Zona is kicking some ass and I dont see Iowa as the type of team to mount a huge comeback.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) A set of brass balls, this big. Seriously. In the post game interview, he was like "Yeah, I'm the man. I can't believe I just called that, holy s***. I'm crazy"
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) lol@ ND losing on a fake FG after the play clock expired. Lou Holtz is crying somewhere. Wow. That was f***ing awesome.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) You don't agree with me Ozzie made a lot of loot? Enough to live on this life and next? I never said that. I just said that the era of big contracts really started when he was managing. Of course he made hella loot, might have even made more as a manager than a player, I dont know.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Ozzie is a former player who managed in the era of big contracts. He's cocky. Some people can't deal with that. Fixed.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) I would be so happy if this happened. LaRussa is the king of micro managing his bullpen and of playing small ball. You don't think you would have a LaRussa Ball tracker in your sig if he was hired as coach???
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) I think fans got carried away with putting the savior image on Manny. He can't solve the pen problems. It's at the point where a pen appearance is an automatic loss. I will always be a fan of the Manny pickup, but I will agree that the bullpen ended up being the biggest problem, and there were never any reinforcements, other than Sale, who is being used every day.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) Troy Tulowitzki needs to f***ing stop it. f*** Troy Tulowitzki! His little HR binge might end up costing me several hundred dollars in fantasy baseball winnings. That being said, good for him, it is an amazing streak he is on.
  12. Todays the day Manny gets to 2nd base on his own at-bat. Finally.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Whatever makes you feel better. I for one don't give a s*** what the Twins' playoff record is. I do care that they're the reason we're sitting at home like the Royals and Pirates just about every year watching the playoffs. You may not give a s*** about the Twins playoff record, but I guarantee you Twins fans do. Those six playoff trips in 9 years are great and all, but when you have one ALCS tip to show for it and thats it, you tend to get unhappy with how your team keeps failing when it matters. Especially when your "less successful" division rivals have two WS trips in recent years and one of them went and won the whole damn thing.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) We definitely had a chance. We were 4.5 games up at one point. We had a real chance. Sox stood pat aside from the ridiculous Jackson deal. What about the "bum" they picked up off waivers?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) The Twins certainly don't seem to understand this randomness. As they're a coin-flip away from 7 division titles in the last 9 years. They most certainly don't. You would think that in a span of 19 playoff games, you would win have to win at least 8 or 9 of them, but their 3-16 record in their most recent playoff games tells a different story.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Pena to me is the 2nd coming of McDougal or the Kotsay of the pen. Floyd keeps regressing. Danks may be the next Javy. Might have some million dollar arms with 10 cent brains. That's what some believe about Jackson. Coops will fix em as every one says but that appears to be short term any more. Please explain.
  17. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) The first was called "ridiculously long" because that's the author's tag line; it's how you know it's a Posnanski. This one being called "ridiculously long" just ain't right. f***! I totally missed that. Big fan of Posnanski's writing too, would change it if I knew how.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 07:12 PM) Good thread, guys. But I will say if the MVP is going to go to a player from a non playoff team then it's Miguel Cabrera without hesitation for me. He's been better than Konerko at, well, everything offensively. Fixed.
  19. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) All of that sounds nice but you forget who the manager is. Guillen personally pissed away 15 games I can think of right off hand with his bumbling of the pitching staff and this inane resting of 20-something year old men. Really? Could you please list these 15 games that are 100% squarely on the shoulders of Ozzie Guillen? I disagree with you but I am very open to be proven wrong.
  20. QUOTE (wallyburger @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:11 AM) If I could only bust one, it would be Williams. Sell the club to Mark Cuban and start over. Reinsdorf's act is old and tired. White Sox fans deserve better, without all of the BS drama that surrounds this club. If you don't like BS drama, then Mark Cuban might be the last owner you want.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) I like how the perception now is that our team didnt want it or wasnt mentally tough. ON their climb back into this thing I dont think I've seen a more mentally tough team wearing the Sox uni in awhile. Yes they fell short, but it wasnt their mental state or their desire, it was the fact they sat on their asses in slumps for 2 months while every other team actually played baseball. Well said. Yeah the Twins beat up the Sox after the break, but its not cause the Sox just laid down. The Twins are 32-13 against the rest of the majors since the break, they are just a buzzsaw right now that is beating everyone. Just time to tip your cap to the better baseball team.
  22. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 07:48 AM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79459 the other thread with nearly the same title. I know, I did that on purpose, different article....
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 07:21 AM) There are more and more rumors Ozzie could be leaving. Really?? That would kinda suck.
