  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) I'm sure this has been answered before: Why is US Cellular Field pointed SE instead of N or NE towards the skyline of Chicago? There's probably a logistical reason, but I've never read it. because the Robert Taylor Homes skyline >>> downtown Chicago's skyline
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) I'm failing to see evidence of Manny = loser. In his first season in 1993, he played 22 games and the Indians finished under .500. Never again was he on a team that finished with a losing record.
  3. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) I was more annoyed with the amount of douche Yankee fans that didn't stand up during the ceremony. You stay classy New Yawkers. I'm pretty sure I'd stand up and cheer for the guy if it were Bernie Williams or Paul O'Neill day. Or the ones that booed Carlton Fisk.

  5. Mike Tyson has been an utter disappointment on Twitter. Unfollow.
  6. Mitch Talbot 2010 vs. CWS: 3-0, 1.57 ERA, 0.91 WHIP
  7. So glad I spent the extra $$$ and went to the game. When they showed Frank tear up at the WS parade, you know he was gonna get emotional again. Just an awesome ceremony for my favorite player who I grew up watching. And the best player in Sox history of course. Those bobbleheads are going for over $50 on eBay right now, might have to sell the one the wife snagged. Gotta keep one of them though.
  8. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) we could of overpaid for dunn but longterm it just wasn't worth it. KW did all he could to get dunn. now why we haven't obtained adam laroche i will never know. he seemed so damn logical for this team. I'm sure the D-Backs were asking for too much in return for him, cause it looks like they want to keep him. Why the Sox didn't at least claim the guy just to see what happens? That I don't know.
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) Hard to live up to expectations when your main cogs are injured, no? BTW, this game flat out falls on the hands of John Danks, period. For a guy who is a supposed ace pitcher, he has way too many games were he flat out struggles. This. Tony Pena gets some blame too though. As a reliever, your job right there is to minimize the damage and keep your team in the game. Not only did he let the two inherited runners score, but he also let two of his own batters score as well. Unacceptable.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) If I had to pick one word to describe the season to date, it would be "weird." The 25-5 out of nowhere. The horrible start. The incredible excellent starting pitching for a long stretch and then outings like Danks tonight. I realize all teams have similar s*** happen, but this season has been "weird" and am I a lousy fan for saying somewhat "frustrating?" It could be worse. One of these years we are going to be out of it in June and have something to realy complain about. For once I agree Greg. At the beginning of the season, I thought they could win the Central, but I didn't think they were a favorite. Then they sucked for two months, were unbeatable for the next month. Could this team be tied with the Twins right now instead of 4.5 games back? f*** yeah. But could they just as easily be 9 games back today? For sure. Baseball is a funny game, and this season has been very funny.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) The question is, what prospect do we even have in our system worth $1 million to another team? It's not going to be Mitchell, Thompson or Viciedo....that leaves who? Tyler Flowers? I just can't see who we're going to trade that will "discount" the cash that we're going to have to pay Ramirez significantly. If I'm Coletti, I would ask for Sergio Santos probably...and there's no way KW can do that with the pen in shambles. Tyler Flowers and Sergio Santos are both on the 40 man roster, so they would have to clear waivers to be traded, which would not happen. They will not be involved in a trade for Manny
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) This year, at least for me, was going to determine who the real CQ is. Other than that crazy 3 week stretch, he's been one of the worst everyday RFs in baseball. Think the Reds would do CQ for Jay Bruce? One can dream. Totally. 2008 was f***ing great, but maybe it was just a fluke. His home/road splits are so ridiculous this year, it definitely makes me wonder. He is htting .199 on the road with a .659 OPS. Mark Kotsay laughs at that.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) How do you guys do it? How do you even watch 30 seconds of preseason football? I'd rather watch the Nanny on Nickelodeon. I agree. I didn't even realize the first 2 preseason games were going on, and I only watched today because of Tony Pena. f*** preseason football.
  14. I don't know about your year in review, but I love your avatar.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) I would've really liked our chances if you told me we were going to score 8 runs tonight. Our offense has been terrific the last two weeks. Thats how it always happens. Your bullpen is unhittable but your starters and offense cant get it to the bullpen. Then your starters get hot and your offense forgets how to hit the ball. Finally, your offense starts smoking the ball and your starters struggle while half your bullpen arms just fall off. Thats why we all love baseball.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) It's funny, in my head I went "There ya go Alexei and Rios! Only 4 more runs!" and then I thought "Oh wait, they still have Rivera in the bullpen..." Same here. The old man is only having like the best season of his entire career too.
  17. The 2008 Detroit Lions went 4-0 in the preseason, then 0-16 during the regular season f*** the NFL preseason
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Fuentes is not that good. Kind of a crappy pickup by the Twins. Can't wait to see him come in and get rocked. Looked like a pretty awful pickup today.
  19. Buster Olney's Twitter: Brian Fuentes hasn't allowed a homer to the last 122 left-handed hitters he has faced. Stephen Drew got him on Sept. 20, 2008.
  20. From 2001-2008, Ichiro scored at least 100 runs in every season. In 2009, he missed 16 games, but still scored 88. He is on pace to score a whopping 75 this season. His OBP is .363 which is below his career average (.377), but he has had worse seasons, so its not like hes not getting on base. I think its his 2-4 hitters that are to blame.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) At least Jose Lopez appears to be trying at 3B. I guess that makes up for him not trying at the plate.
  22. Twins/Mariners on FOX in Chicago right now. Come on Seattle, I know your offense sucks, but its Nick freaking Blackburn! You have to at least be able to hit him.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) I would hardly say he is a crappy pick-up. He is not as good as he used to be, but I can't think of any team that couldn't use Brian Fuentes. Seriously. The pick-up doesn't scare me, but the Twins bullpen w/ Brian Fuentes is better than without him. It sure as hell can't be called a crappy pick-up, any decent bullpen arm is always a good acquisition.
