  1. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) My prections: AL Manager: Ron Gardenhire will finish second for the 3rd straight year (in his 8 years as manager, he has been the MOY runner up 5 times and 1 third place) Jerry Sloan of the MLB?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) When we play the Baltimore Orioles, they look like the better team. Considering their record, that is bulls*** and unacceptable for a supposed contender. Imagine how Texas feels, getting swept in a 4-game series at home to a team like Baltimore and losing the season series 4-6. Bulls***.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) I have to agree with this statement. OHMYGOD!!!!!!! Sqwert agreed with greg!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) I know that last line is a joke but thats not possible since they are on the 40 man roster. Can they be traded if they cleared waivers though or does that not matter? I'm sure that no one claimed either guy.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Jones was a ridiculous acquisition. We found out the same thing Texas did. He's no good anymore. If you want defense, there are plenty of .200 hitters who can play defense. How many of those .200 hitters will hit 17 homers in just under 250 at bats? He is averaging nearly the same amount of at bats per homer as Paulie.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) What would make it even better is if we were on a 3 game winning streak going into that game looking for a sweep of the Yankees. And if the Twins were on a six game losing streak and the Sox were only 0.5 games back on Sunday morning. I think I need a new pair of pants.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) It would be pretty cool for him to debut on Sunday since I'll be there and it's already going to be a memorable event with the Frank Thomas stuff. I was just thinking about that this morning. Being so pumped up for Frank Thomas Day, then Manny debuting in the 3-hole for the Sox, awesomeness.

  9. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) I'm sure they'll still do UM/OSU. I did read that they want to do it earlier in the year that way there's still a chance that they can play in the championship game. I've read that too. The ACC did the same thing with Miami/FSU, they still play each other, but can play in the championship game too. After 5 years, FSU has been once, UM never.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) It will be played as the Big Ten championship instead. Maybe in 2017 at the earliest
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Reds? Giants? The Giants have already acquired Jose Guillen, Cody Ross, and Pat Burrell. They already had Andres Torres tearing it up, with Aaron Rowand & Nate Scheirholtz as part-timers. I think that OF may be a bit too crowded for Manny.
  12. Buster_ESPN Manny may have played his last game for L.A. Not in lineup today (day game after night game),and we'll know Friday mid-day about waiver sit.
  13. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) i would push jackson back a day and let lucas pitch tonight. If you are gonna do that, then you might as well cut Freddy cause he would be just wasting a roster spot.
  14. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) Freddy gets BOMBED... Danks pitches good but we get 2 hits off CC and lose... we WIN sunday.... I agree with you, but I have a feeling we hit Burnett too on Friday, so maybe we have a chance to win that game
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) When was the last time we actually won a series? Will start against the Yankees? August 26
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:22 AM) Nah. I used to have the insider but it was only Buster posting twitpics of himself naked. Just signed up for it
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Here's a fun stat. AL team bullpen ERA's this year: 1. Minnesota 2. Tampa Bay 3. Texas 4. NY Yankees 5. Chicago White Sox Wow. I would much prefer Rivera, Soriano, or Feliz over Capps/Rauch at the end of a playoff game, but I stand corrected about their bullpen. Funny how the top 4 bullpens are the top 4 teams. I'm sure the Padres bullpen is #1 in the NL.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) Huh? Adam Laroche got through waivers unclaimed. There's no way it takes more than Hudson to get him. That one was the Sox not wanting him, not the D-Backs not wanting to get rid of him. Should the Sox have claimed him to see what would happen? Yes, I think so. I just don't think it would have been that easy to snag him away from Arizona. They supposedly are working on an extension and seem to be very pleased with him.
  19. Padres are tied with Yankees & Rays for fewest losses in MLB. Bud Black, come accept your NL Manager of the Year award. I get the whole Petco Park thing, but they are 38-27 on the road too. They have the 2nd best road ERA in baseball, 0.03 behind the Yankees. Mat Latos is the bomb diggity, but the rest of the rotation is nothing special. Having four bullpen guys with ERA under 2.00 will definitely help though.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 08:54 AM) Awesome! Thank goodness we put all of our eggs in one basket. I don't know how many options there really are out there that can help as much as Manny. I would have like Adam LaRoche, but it doesn't seem like the D-Backs wanna trade him, and it would probably take more than Hudson to get him, which the Sox dont really have.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) Really? That's a lineup that can hang with anyone, and their starting pitching looks to at least be a step up from last season. It'll hurt them not to have Morneau, but having a guy like Thome who can step in can help as well. The lineup is definitely solid. Their rotation is better, but I still wouldn't feel that confident heading into a playoff series with them. The end of the bullpen would be a major concern to me as well. Then again, the more I look at NYY/TB/TEX, I do see some major flaws as well, but I just personally don't think the Twins stack up to them overall.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) I think tonight's loss was the worst of the season. Blowing a 3-run lead in the 9th vs. the Twins, with a chance to split a 4-game series? Giving up a walkoff homer in the 10th vs. the Twins to go 4 games down? And the Twins are not looking like a team that will scare any other playoff teams this season either. No matter who wins the Central, I see a quick exit for the division champ
