  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 07:00 AM) What about the no trade clause? Good point. Either way, I don't really see Rizzo doing that just to tell KW f*** you, they arent like rivals or even in the same league. That and there is the 2% chance to Manny just wants to get out of LA and says yes to go to DC.
  2. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 06:56 AM) I haven't read the entire thread, but alot of it, does anyone think there's a chance Washington's GM gives Kenny a big F-you and puts a claim in on Manny? KW basically called out Rizzo at the trade deadline without mentioning him by name. Rizzo could put a claim in knowing Manny won't go there and still stick it to Williams. For $4 million dollars???
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) I hope he does better this September than last. His September last year was still better than what Kotsay & Jones have done this year. And if he does 75% of what he did when the Dodgers traded for him in 2008, he would probably our best hitter for the last month.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) It'll suck if it comes to that. That would be such a copout. But what happens if both teams make the playoffs? I hear ya, but how else do you decide between the two? Their numbers are so similar now, it is ridiculous. I'm assuming one of them will win the award in September but who knows.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Coors Field up to her old tricks, Braves blow 10-1 4th inning lead, lose 12-10 LOL, AT&T Park up to her old tricks as well. Reds were up 10-1 in the 5th, Giants now lead 11-10 after 8
  6. Coors Field up to her old tricks, Braves blow 10-1 4th inning lead, lose 12-10
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) So yeah, like, who the hell is the NL MVP right now? As a voter, how in the world do you vote for Votto over Pujols or vice versa? If they keep it up and finish with similar numbers, I think you just have to give it to the guy whose team wins the division???
  8. QUOTE (maki @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Why stop there? Maris was hopped up on greenies all season long. Whoever said Aaron wasn't either?
  9. Just checked on Ticketmaster for the hell of it, they have standing room only tickets in the outfield available for $53 a pop, whoa.
  10. Scouring the intra web for some tickets. I really shouldnt be spending the extra money right now, but Frank was the MF'in man, so I feel like I kinda have to.
  11. Can Bobby even pitch tommorrow? Our two temp closers are hurt too. MB really needs to go 7 or 8 and the offense needs to knock Matusz's offspeed junk out of the ballpark.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) Peter King is a fool. This is the absolute truth. Either way, I do wonder if any pitcher has ever retired 41 straight batters from the same team, but whatever. What I originally came here to post was that Sidney Rice just had hip surgery and is out for at least half the season. Percy Harvin is basically a game-time decision for the rest of his career with migraines, so that leaves Brett with Berrian & Greg Lewis as his top two receivers and who knows after that. He has survived with worse, but that definitely weakens the Vikings a bunch with a tough schedule.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) You will be eating crow next year when EJax goes 25-2 with an 1.43 ERA and when Daniel Hudson is the #3 starter for the Reno Aces
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Damon invokes NTC and nixes trade to Red Sox, remaining in Detroit. I wonder if his decision would have been different if the Red Sox were in a great spot for a playoff spot, instead of on the outside looking in.
  15. Rob Dibble is talking all kinds of s*** that Strasburg needs to man up. Dibble says all this despite missing a whole season due to injury, only lasting 7 seasons, never starting a game, and never pitching more than 99 innings in a single season, which Strasburg has already passed.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) I've read all of them. Very interesting stuff and it is getting HUGE HUGE play out on Florida sports talk. I've haven't had time to look at them, but I thought I heard that the Marlins made like $50 million one year. How ridiculous is that?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) .368/.426/.589/1.015 since July 1. And that doesn't include tonight's 2/4, 1 R, 2 RBI. I thought Heyward was a mortal lock for the ROY with the way he started. But the award is Posey's to lose at this point. I'm so f***ing pissed I dropped him in favor of Carlos Santana in two of my fantasy leagues. But in my defense, couldn't foresee Santana getting hurt. No doubt that Posey has been mashing, but Jamie Garcia still has something to say about the ROY award. 11-6, 2.42 ERA, just pitched a 3-hit shutout, and he's been pitching since the start of the season. It sucks for Posey that he spent the first two seasons in the minors, but you still have to take that into account.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) ?? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4362558 Well yeah, but Balta called it a correction, so I thought he meant that King had said something incorrectly. He was just asking a question, and I thought he was talking about consecutive batters on the same team anyway.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Sometimes football writers need to stick to football. I sent an email correction with the right answers. We'll see if he publishes them tomorrow. Peter King annoys me as much as anyone else, but what did he say wrong??? If that first one had been a perfect game, that would have been 27+14=41 straight Indians retired. Am I missing something??? He should have added 13 & 2/3 perfect innings "against the same team", but thats it I think.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) But yes, no division title winner has ever finished below .500 against their divisional opponents since the realignments and going to 18 games per season...at least since 2001, maybe it goes back even longer than that. In 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2008, we did a much better job taking care of our business with the other four teams. The 2006 NL Central & World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals say hello
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) So, hypothetically, let's say the Cubs go on the traditional post-manager-change late season it's september and we have a few young guys who want to play spoiler run. What are the odds that the Cubs decide to retain Mike Quade, and what are the odds the Cubs decide they're close enough that they can run with nearly waht they have next year, and it's only because of things like Ramirez's injury that they are down this year? I think that depends on whether or not the Ricketts retain Jim Hendry. If he is around, then he has to go for it next year with these pieces, but if a new GM comes in, he might be able to make some moves looking more towards the future.
