QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Players to hit 30 HR in each of their first 10 MLB Seasons. 1. Albert Pujols. Ryan Braun is someone who I thought had a chance to pull off that feat too, but he's gonna need 14 more HRs in the last month and a half just to make it 4 years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Why they scheduled Frank Thomas day when the Yankees were in town instead of the Royals I'll never know. Absolutely dumbfounding. The Friday game of the Yankees series is Blackhawks night, with miniature Stanley Cup replicas as the giveaways. Another promotion that should be scheduled when the Royals/Orioles are in town, not when the guaranteed to sell out Yankees are in.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) McGwire and Canseco are pretty close. McGwire hit 49 at 23. Canseco hit 33 at 21, 31 at 22, and 42 at 23. Except odds are Stanton is clean.

That Human Centipede movie is one of the most f***ed up ideas I've ever seen. Apparently Roger Ebert agrees: "“I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don’t shine.”

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) This site is beyond atrocious whenever the Sox go through a rough stretch. It's hard to determine what's worse. The hate and loathing for all things White Sox or the undying love and admiration for the entire Minnesota Twins organization. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) This is a different Twins team. They have the pitching and hitting to go up against anyone. Meh. They are the 5th best team in the AL and I don't see them passing up the top 4 anytime this season.

Entourage has been surprisingly good this season

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 07:11 AM) The Sox have scored 8 runs in 2 of the last 3 games and at least 6 runs in 4 of the last 6. But if we had signed Jim Thome, we would have scored even more...

92nd PGA Championship at Whistling Straights
LittleHurt05 replied to iamshack's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
At least he didn't make that final putt, cause it would have been 100x worse if he had thought he won the tourney and then got screwed. How f***ing beautiful did Wisconsin look this weekend though, wow. The state still sucks, but that course made the area look great. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Chris Carter, who the Sox traded for Quentin, is 0 for his first 17 in the MLB. That move is coming back to haunt Kenny, cause if the A's didnt have him, maybe somebody else plays this weekend and actually hits the ball and gives Oakland a chance to win a game.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) That way the last 20-30 minutes seemed kind of anti-climactic. Ozzie, you might want to set aside that idea of writing a book about the 2010 season for the time being, because NOBODY in Chicago will care to read it with things looking as bad as they do now. Goodbye Putz, Jenks and Andruw Jones. It was nice knowing you. Hello, Sale. Hopefully Konerko, if this is the end of his Sox career, can go out on a better note and the White Sox can actually take 2/3 in Minnesota...I wouldn't bet on it happening, but there's always hope. Goodbye Putz and your 2.64 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 3 blown saves over 4.5 months of baseball. How dare you have one bad weekend? Good riddance. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) That happens every day - sometimes multiple times a day. The joys of being engaged Enjoy it while you can, after the wedding it doesn't stay that way

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) 2003 Touche. August 15-17 they hosted the Twins, who were in 3rd but only 2-3 games back. Weird attendance numbers from those 3 games: Friday 08/15: 39,927 Saturday 08/16: 28,994 Sunday 08/17: 18,875 There had to be bad weekend weather or some kinda special night on Friday. They also hosted the 2nd place White Sox from July 29-31. It was a Tues.-Thurs. series and they got between 20k-25k for each game.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) 2007 Fastball Averages Sisco: 92.4 MacDougal: 93.2 Aardsma: 92.5 Thornton: 94.3 Jenks: 93.9 Santos: 95.8 Putz: 94.0 Threets: 93.3 Thornton: 96.1 Jenks: 94.9 Sale: 94.8 2010 Bullpen Wins. Used FanGraphs by the way. So much for that, Most of those 2007 pitchers must have been a bit overhyped as flamethrowers because they just weren't very good at pitching. It's pretty awesome that you can find all that info on FanGraphs though.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Most people I know in KC would say f*** it to 23 dollar parking and no way in hell would they go. When's the last time they had to worry about a series with 1st place on the line in mid-August??? Parking was probably $5 back then.

-
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) that is alot of money for a month and a half of baseball. True, but for a team with money it would be way worth it if he could do anything close to what he did for LA in 2008.
-
QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) Castro - he has the potential to establish himself as a top 5 SS in all of baseball; has some defensive warts like Hanley but he is still really young. I guess Castro isn't gonna play SS in the future. They have some younger Asian prospect that's supposed to be much better SS and will move Castro to 2B.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) John Grabow is pretty bad. 2 years, $7.5 million. Thats nothing. And there's still no reason to think he can't have a good 2011, he was a decent reliever for the last 5 years.
-
For all the Chris Carter love, he sure as hell did the Sox no favors last night with his awful RISP batting. Still looking for that 1st major league hit, hope he doesn't wait til he leaves Minny to get it.
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Cincy didn't sell out any of its games this week with the Cardinals, and that was the biggest series in that city in close to 15 years. Wow, I expected Cincy to be one of the fanbases that would show up when their team was finally a winner. I guess that makes 4 on my list.

Gamethread: White Sox (65-51) vs Tigers (55-60) 6:05PM CST

I will only be happy with a minimun of 5 Porcello b**** slaps today! Keep up the good pitching EJax, show Balta whats up -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) How many MLB teams wouldn't sell out a series in mid August against a team they're tied for first? 3? The White Sox, Marlins, & Braves. I would include the Rays on the list, but all the Yankees or Red Sox fans would buy all the tix and make it a sellout anyway.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) A lineup with Kotsay and Teahen in it? Ugh. How the hell are we a contender this year. The 3 players that have played the most DH for the Rays this year are Willy Aybar, Pat Burrell, & Hank Blalock (total of 84 games). All 3 have a lower OPS than Mark Kotsay. (Not counting Burrell's #'s with the Giants). Obviously there are ways to get around it and still win.
